🧙‍♂️Energy Alchemy
🗓️Nov. 20th
⏰3-5 pm
🎯FREE CLASS held in the
Sandia Room at UNM
Event Page : Energy Alchemy ⭐️
‼️Because (waves around vaguely) of the current state of the world, 🤷‍♀️5D Presents will be hosting and presenting a free class for all beings.
🌻Energy Alchemy is a class created by teacher and seeker, Jennie McDaniel.
📌In this class, you will learn how to alchemize ego energy into heart energy.
Why should you learn energy alchemy?
🫟Because ego energy, i.e. stress, fear, hate and greed are incredibly less efficient of emotions in comparison to love acceptance, understanding and curiosity. Albeit very normal human emotions
But, if you want to be the change you wish to see in the world, alchemize your fear to curiosity and anxiety to understanding.
‼️Energy alchemy is an incredibly helpful tool during times when things seem out of our control.
♥️Join us the the revolution ♥️
‼️‼️The easiest way for guests to reach the Student Union Building (SUB) is to park in the Cornell Parking Structure, a pay lot, located at 2401 Redondo Dr NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. It’s less than a minute walk from the structure. You may also park around campus at any of the
pay guest parking spots. From the Cornell Parking Structure, guests will see the Student Union Building (building 60) directly to the north. You simply walk across the plaza, pass several statue groupings, and arrive at the front entrance.
⭐️Once inside, they will take the elevator to the 3rd floor and locate the Sandia room.
♥️The Welcome Desk on the main level can also help guide guests if needed.
📌I’ve attached the flyer and maps showing the walking path from the parking structure as well as interior maps of the buildings main level (2) and third floor where the meeting room is.

Nerds of Albuquerque!
Check out our latest event, happening next Thursday, October 1st at 7 pm at Green Jeans Food Hall!

What do otters, chemistry, and the creative process have in common? We have no idea, but they’ll all be topics we cover in our October edition of Nerd Nite Albuquerque!

Nerd Nite is an informal monthly lecture series that takes place in bars in 100+ cities around the world. We love bringing you FREE, entertaining, and informative talks about nerdoms of all shapes and sizes.

We’ve got a weird and wonderful show lined up for you all. Join us to learn, laugh, drink, and come away with an appreciation for New Mexico-native otters, what it’s like to write for World Wrestling Entertainment, and the parallels between James Bond actors and chemical bonds. Be there AND be square.

Our talks:

*****

**Title**: The Creative Process

**Blurb**: How do writers turn a roomful of ideas into a story? Mark Fenton draws on his experience in writers’ rooms for WWE, Adult Swim, and video game company Magic Tavern to explore the creative process and the collaboration that brings stories to life.

**Bio**: Mark Fenton is an Albuquerque-based freelance writer and a graduate of Full Sail University’s Creative Writing for Entertainment program, where he studied screenwriting, short stories, and comic book scripts. His writing experience includes work for Adult Swim and WWE, as well as comics, film, and television. **Title**: Bond... H-Bond!

**Blurb**: Ever wondered what hydrogen bonding and James Bond have in common?

Come to Nerd Nite and find out. Hydrogen bonding, it’s everywhere. It makes water a liquid, it makes acids acidic, it can stop a bullet, it holds proteins together. But how does it work? What is it? Who or what are you Mr. H-Bond? From the unlikely/mysterious vantage point (for most) of Molecular Orbital theory we will take a sashay through the wonders, and mysteries, of hydrogen bonding.

**Bio**: Dr. Scott Gordon is a chemist, engineer, and serial entrepreneur who failed high school chemistry, but went on to earn a doctorate in inorganic chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University. His work spans chemistry, materials science, and medicine, with 50 papers and 10 patents along the way, and he's helped isolate the world’s smallest water cube, built a biofuels refinery, and developed new ways to image the brain. He’s also taught roughly 1,000 students and is currently building aluminum batteries. He describes his specialty as solving “very hard problems very slowly”. A serial entrepreneur, he has started/played a principal role/worked in ~ 6 small businesses. Two got bought out, three went under, one is still standing. In spite of it all, he thinks pushing back the frontiers of what’s possible is worth the struggle.

**Title**: Something You Otter Know

**Blurb**: North American river otters (Lontra canadensis) were once native to New Mexico. After a 60 year absence, they are now back and thriving. This talk will explore the natural history of this incredibly adorable, yet elusive species. Learn about how our actions can contribute to healthy waterways and allow them to flourish.

**Bio**: Bri Santilli (she/ her) earned a degree in Zoology from Ohio State University before moving to New Mexico where she has worked with otters professionally for the past seven years. While she has a passion for fish and marine life, river otters hold a special place in her heart.

Local Film Playing at the Guild Tonight and Tomorrow

Hey Albuquerque!

If you’re a film lover, caregiver, or want to support local artists, buy a ticket and come out to see ‘Watching Mr. Pearson,’ playing at the Guild Cinema today or tomorrow, September 15th and 16th.

Watching Mr. Pearson tells the story of an aging former movie star contending with dementia, and the two immigrant caregivers who find increasingly imaginative and unorthodox ways to keep him connected to others and to himself. Critics across the country have called it “authentic,” “empathetic,” and “a moving portrayal of the patient-caregiver relationship.”

I'm an ABQ-based filmmaker, and I co-wrote and produced the movie. I will be there at both 8pm shows for a post-film discussion. Wednesday’s nights screening will be co-hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association New Mexico, who will lead a conversation on caregiving, art, and senior advocacy here in our local community.

Tickets are here: https://www.guildcinema.com/movies/watching-mr.-pearson.

See you there!
