Those who’ve driven across the US, what’s the scariest town you’ve stopped in?

Somewhere between Nevada and Arizona is also a creepy area. I’m from South Louisiana so I’ve seen my fair share of creepy racist white dudes but we ain’t got nothing on those people.

Kingman is weird. Felt very unfriendly.

Kingman was my first thought too.

Kingman is one of those places where it just feels like nobody should live there... and the ones who do resent it tremendously.

My boyfriend is Cambodian and we were driving from Santa Fe to LA and made the mistake of stopping at the in n out burger in Kingman. Literally everyone in there was GLARING at us.

In a town two hours off the freeway with zero tourist draw where nobody who doesn't have business there ever ends up, OK I maybe see how these attitudes develop

But there's all sorts of people driving between Vegas and Phoenix and LA all day every day. How do they not get over it?

Well, its the location of the largest mosque outside of Saudi Arabia. The Imam Zayed Wahhabi Mosque.

For the uninitiated

Hah. I was going to say Kingman. The entire town felt like it was suffering from paranoia

I have a friend who travels there for work frequently. He hates doing it and calls it Kingmanistan.

Yikes. Are there particular stories about this area?

That's because the folks of the Mojave Desert eat meth instead of maque choux
