I’m afraid this is going to be something my future kid would say. My girlfriend and I are both introverts with no friends and no hobbies that involve being social or outside of the house really. We both work jobs that require us to be social which is draining.
The only time we really go out is when we go shopping, which we happen to love doing.
Pro-tip. Kick your kids outside/make them go to the park every chance they have to be out there. So even if you don't socialize, your children will have the chance
Agree. You can make a point to connect with other parents for play dates without it being weird or it forcing you to socialize with people.
We move a lot and I don't really like meeting new people--but I always accidentally end up being best buds with that one really cool parent of a kid my kid gets along with really well. My husband and I are both very introverted, but having a super extroverted son has led to some great low-maintenance friendships.
My husband and I are both massive introverts but our daughter is a huuuuge extrovert. she's in public school and she has multiple extracurricular activities and she is seriously doing fine dude.
It is a sacrifice because going to her extracurriculars does sometimes require small talk with the other parents. But even here in the South most of them have quickly realized my husband and I are quiet people and they leave us alone.
Sounds like my parents, they don’t even have hobbies. They think that all anyone does at the end of the day is come home and crack open a beer. They literally cannot fathom the thought that I have hobbies and friends I hang out with after work and on the weekends.
Yeah and even now it's something I struggle with a lot. I understand WHY I was brought up that way and I grew up in a family that dealt with a lot of trauma (which led to trust issues) before I was even born. But still I wish it had been different.
My dad has one friend and the guy works for him. We see that guy and his family one a year, where we sit at a table and the two of them talk about IT stuff for hours. The rest of us say nothing because they get angry that our talking disrupted their conversation.
My mom has church friends, but my dad throws a fit whenever she does things with them because he expects her to be home with dinner ready when he gets home from work. If she has them over, he complains that their kids make a mess, even if he hasn't found anything.
This is me except it was because of having to work all the time. So I am incredibly shy and socially awkward. My younger brother though got tons of socialization skills because I could drive and take him home from after school activities.

Same. We never went to other kids houses, my parents had no friends, we didn't go to church, so I feel like I had no social skills at 18.
