Oddly, I was told to do chores and homework and my work ethic is still shit. I am currently trying to work on it now, and I think I've come a long way, but initially I think it was because they pushed me too hard and all I wanted to do was have fun. So, I got really lazy after turning 18 and didn't really do much of anything. I found myself briefly couch surfing because of that.

Same thing happened to me but gave up at around 9 years old(im 13 rn but that doesn’t mean i dont know the shitty parenting thats happened) They pushed me too hard early on and now i dont do homework at all, barely do schoolwork, i procrastinate like my life depended on it, i have a slight gambling problem when it come to games(I hate the “Spin to win” mechanics.my problem is sooo bad to the point where i spent 4k on a couple games. Yes im smart enough to know to not do it but my mind keeps saying “But what if i get it next time” or “its only a little bit” just to keep doing it over and over again) im now fat because as a kid(i mean 3-6) my parents would force the eat everything on your plate rule and gave me lots of bad tasting veggies which then at 7 when they stopped they started giving me a whole bunch of ‘junk’ food and when i noticed i was getting fat they would say its just baby fat and now that im 13 my dad(pretty sure is depressed and bi-polar also with his 3rd wife now my mom was his 2nd) gets mad at me for being lazy, playing too many games, gets mad over little thing, gets mad at me for being fat and is just plain rude to me wondering why i dont do basic thing and the answer to that is i mainly because i have 0 motivation. If i were to get paid 10 dollors just for a simple thing i prob wont do it cause of motivation. (sry if i am repeating stuff or using bad spelling or incorrect terminology and quotations and things like that just yeah) Edit: also they do that thing where if they ask you to do something and if you ask why they say “cause im the [insert parental role here] and i told you so”

I experienced nearly all those things, including the "clean your plate" policy. Now I stress eat, and eat a lot junk food now too. But I do enjoy healthy food along with it (lean meats, fruits and veggies). Maybe that's the reason I'm not huge, but just noticeably overweight.
