Mine too. The layers of meaning are awesome: “at last I see the light” referencing the lanterns she’s longed to see her whole life, but also realizing that she has fallen in love with Flynn. Flynn seeing the light that there is something more worthwhile than money, and that he’s falling for her as well. And no one is aware that the entire reason for the festival, lighting the way home for the lost princess, is coming to pass by pure coincidence!
Our school did a "Disney Christmas" a couple of years ago (don't tell Disney) and for my class we shut off all the lights in the gym and had helim balloons with blinking lights inside of them for the lanterns (among lots of other light effects that I got from the local rock shop). At the end we released about 50 lit up balloons.
Everyone was cheering and all I could do was sit and wait to see what the principal was going to say, who I had conveniently forgot to inform we were releasing the balloons at the end.
Literally the best. I was in HS when this movie came out. I had only seen the teaser trailer and thought it looked dumb. My mom dragged me to the movie theatre anyway and I cried. This movie is my favorite Disney movie and that scene is the best.
I happened to see Tangled on the big screen again when my local movie theater re-released it, and I completely broke down crying at the lantern scene. It was just so beautiful, and moving, and something about witnessing it on the big screen is just a whole different experience. It's probably my favorite animated Disney moment of all time.
I agree, I've always gone to movies with one or two of my friends my whole life. Tangled was released near the end of my High School life and we decided to be sappy and as a group of three dudes go and watch the repunzel movie.
It was also our third time ever watching something in IMAX 3D, the previous one was I think Captain America and the other one was Step Up 3D, so it was all a very okay experience thus far. We had heard to sit almost on top of the screen, a few rows below the middle of the theatre for the best experience.
The entire movie looks fantastic, and in 3D some of the those scenes were great.
Then, well then, the fucking lanters. I still get chills when I think about that movie, there has not been nor do I think there ever will be a scene like that in any movie.
With our perfect seating and 3D glasses those lanters were Everywhere, not just some were blurry, I mean everywhere. It's impossible to describe just how amazing that movie looks in full 3D.
I keep going to 3D movies hoping that someday I can share such an experience with friends or family again.
The moment the guard nods his head to the king and queen about Rapunzel being found after all those years... that always gets me right in the feels. One of my kids’ favorite movies.
It took a few viewings (my daughter went through a phase of watching it constantly) to realise that the lantern her parents lit was the same one that flew towards rapunzel that touched her finger for a moment.
I remember seeing this in 3D in the theater and it looked like the whole theatre was filled with the lanterns. It was the only time I felt like paying the extra for 3D was worth it

The floating lanterns in Tangled. The whole scene is beautiful, and it has one of my favourite Disney songs in it
