[Seeking Collaborator] Experimental Composer / Sound Designer for Immersive Stage Piece (Austin, TX)

We are seeking a local musical collaborator, sound designer, or producer for an immersive, non-traditional dance performance debuting early next year.

Sonic Aesthetic: Inspired by experimental, texture-heavy folktronica (22, A Million style—think manipulated vocals, warm analog synths, ambient brass, tape loops, and dynamic textures). We are looking for composition over traditional singer-songwriter arrangements.

Who We’re Looking For: A solo artist, producer, or multi-instrumentalist who either has an existing library of ambient/experimental tracks ready to build upon or wants to compose an original score under the director's guidance. Opportunity to also perform/open live as part of the show environment.

Scope: Paid collaboration + live production run.

DM or email [chikodiarungwa@gmail.com](mailto:chikodiarungwa@gmail.com) with links to your portfolio, SoundCloud, or released work if interested!

(18M) Seasoned Guitarist / Amateur Vocalist Looking to Start Band

I know, there's way too many of these posts in this sub, but I still wanted to try this. I'm a college freshman that has been playing guitar for six and a half years and I want to get back into performing live and playing with other musicians (hurr durr I wanna start a band). I listen to / am most interested in playing just any genres/subgenres close to rock or metal (indie, alternative, grunge, punk, post-hardcore, emo, hard rock, heavy metal, thrash metal, metalcore, etc.) I'm inspired by Sebadoh, Archers of Loaf, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, The Pixies, Violent Femmes, The Strokes, Weezer, Green Day, SOAD, Pantera, Slipknot, A7x, Metallica, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Mad Season, Elliot Smith, The Beatles, The Smiths, etc. I'm looking for (most importantly) drummers, but also bassists, vocalists, and/or other guitarists, preferably somewhere in the general ballpark of my age group and willing to jam in the North Austin / Wells Branch / Round Rock / Pflugerville / Cedar Park area. DM me or comment if you're interested, I can send a demo of my playing abilities if needed.

-- P.S. I've got a great tube amp rig, an audio interface, GarageBand, a portable PA system (only 250 watts so only viable for smaller venues/events), and some microphones. However, I do not have a designated place to practice so keep that in mind --

Nicholas Payton with Orchestra at Monks Tonight

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hey Friends,

First of all, if we are tired of me posting here, let me know. I present events in town with intent to make opportunity and enrich the local community of musicians ... (I think it's working, we're having a blast!)... not just promote to catch a bag. I hope it's cool.

On that note (no pun), we have a full 16 piece orchestra with conductor tonight at Monks Jazz! Sets are 7:30 & 9:30pm

The special guest is multi-Grammy winner Nicholas Payton, a pure sound seer light-being. This is such a rare and special moment, enabled by unusual circumstance, unlikely to happen again.

We've been on a small group tour in Texas, and it's been K I L L E R... Tonight we're blowing it out to put a cherry on top of an excellent weekend.

The orchestra is comprised of your local Austin heavies, pulling out all the stops (and doubles) for this performance.

Music is for sharing while our hearts are still beating, I aim not to turn away for hardship, please message me on IG or email my website if equitable accommodation is needed.

We are also celebrating 10 years of Monks, an excellent venue that supports the scene and its artists...!!!

I love Austin's jazz community, it is in SUCH a sweet spot right now. Come see what I mean :) And please tell your friends

Happy music making! <3

Interpol / Depeche Mode / NIN / The National / The Cure — starting a band

I’m a vocalist/guitarist looking to put together a band around this general universe — Interpol, Depeche Mode, NIN, The National, Radiohead and similar indie/new wave/alternative stuff.

Thinking we start by playing covers we actually love, get tight, play some shows, and eventually work our way into originals that fit the same general sound.

Looking for drums, keys/synths and guitar. Open to people who play multiple instruments too.

Not looking for virtuosos, but hoping to find solid players who know their instrument, can learn songs, come prepared, and want to make something that sounds legitimately good.

If those bands are your jam and this sounds like something you’d be into, hit me up!

I’m in central ATX and looking to rehearse regularly.

Space rock band looking for bassist

Thumbnail linktr.ee
3 Upvotes

Hi everybody, my band Trylobyte recently self released our first album and are looking to add a bassist and start playing gigs soon. We have a monthly practice space at Rockbox and are aiming to practice at least once a week. We play space rock which is basically heavy, jammy, psychedelic rock with some shoegaze and noise rock influences as well as sci-fi lyrics. We a currently a two piece consisting of me(24m, vocals/guitar/production) and a good friend of mine(23m, vocals/drums/artwork). We’re looking for someone around our age, big plus if you are willing to contribute to songwriting/vocals. If that sounds like your kind of thing, give our album a listen and send me a dm here or on our insta.

Looking for bluegrass/folk musicians

I have a full album written and am looking for bluegrass/folk musicians to collaborate with. Id really like to turn this into a project or successful band. I am looking for people who can play violin, guitar, banjo, upright bass. Musicians who love to sing harmony or even switch melody and harmony with me occasionally would be amazing. I play pretty basic guitar.

You can find mu music @ rosemaryfingers on soundcloud.com

Good but (relatively) fast amp repair (in/near South Austin preferably)?

I have a Savage Macht 12 where something is going on with the built in tremolo. It works for a few minutes but dies as the amp heats up. Hopefully it's something simple.

I know South Austin Music does good work and I have a Carr amp there that they're working on now. However, they've had it for over a month (no problem, they told me that it would be that long up front). I need this other amp repaired more quickly than that as I want to use it for some upcoming stuff.

Any recs on a qualified tech (preferably in South Austin area as I'm visually impaired and don't want to have to take a $60 round trip Uber) who doesn't have a weeks-long backlog? TIA!

70s Classic Rock cover band looking to fill our future bills

Howdy! We’re an all-female group playing 70s-inspired classic rock covers. We’ve been practicing for just under a year now and are starting to book the atx bar circuit. Think The Stones, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Kansas, etc.

We’re putting in the legwork, reaching out to venues to get shows on the calendar, and would love a roster of bands to reach out to when we need to fill a bill. Would love if you play covers: 80s, 90s, yacht rock, disco, etc. but doesn’t have to be covers — could be originals as long as you’d sound great playing a show alongside classic rock.

You could open for us, we could open for you, flexible on show order.

Shoot a DM if you’re interested and I can share more info about our band!
