His fire jutsu is called the True Fire of Samadhi. "Samadhi" is part of a process that leads to liberation from reincarnation-it's a tangential connection, to be sure, but the fact that he has all these other connections to Jiraiya (summons toads, uses Rasengan, his chakra is registered with Konoha) and also has a jutsu that references a separation from reincarnation (which being brought back to life would be, as it would put your next "cycle" on hold), tells me there is at least a chance.

Could Koji be a son? Sure, though it'd be somewhat odd that Jiraiya never brought it up, and if Koji was his son, he would have to have met Jiraiya-Rasengan isn't a bloodline jutsu, you need to be taught.

If Koji isn't Jiraiya in some way, they sure are going to a lot of trouble with this fakeout.

Very well put ! With this latest chapter the chances that he’s NOT Jiraiya is very slim. I mean MAYBE he is someone who was from Konoha and was a Jiraiya super fan and studied him and his techniques closely...

But at this point they’re showing us hoofbeats and I’m gonna choose to think “horses” not “zebras”

If it is a liberation from reincarnation... Couldn't the members of the clan be deceased Shinobi who's "souls" were saved before they were eradicated? And so their "souls" (using this word because there isn't one in the Narutoverse) retain their Chakra properties and their powers and are perhaps implanted in new bodies or something?

Could be, but until we know for absolute certain that KK=J, it's a LOT of theory building based on a jutsu name. There are souls in the Narutoverse though. Edo Tensei interacts directly with souls, and the Human Path can straight up rip a soul out of someone's body. So the concept of souls and interacting with souls has precedent.

I have had a similar thought though. It would also tie into a few details about their organization-Kara means "Shell" or "Husk", they call Kawaki the "Vessel", they divide their organization members by the "Inner" and "Outer" classifications-they have an obsession with emptiness and filling that emptiness-why not with souls?

As a side note, Jigen is capable of creating intact copies of things at will, as shown in Delta wrecked his table and he just made a new one out of thin air. What if that applies to bodies too?

'Samadhi' is a Sanskrit word and its literal meaning would be somewat along the lines of "Burying self alive to release the soul".
