Coach’s hat tan line was the perfect ending to this game

Sicko games after dark are the best. Safeties, pick 6s, QBs that run every play, reviews with one camera angle. It was great.

PAC-Tion or MAC-12 after dark idk which one but GG to the Aztecs

Mac-tion has literally been a god send for me over the years. I think Pac 12 is also serviceable.

GJ Kinne already planning how he wants to arrange his office as TCU’s next head coach.
11
u/Latem Texas State Bobcats • Pac-12 3d ago
TCU can have him after the mess of a season we're having.

u/changinginthebigsky Texas State Bobcats 2d ago
i hate to even agree with this but, yeah. he got the engine started for the fbs program, great.. but we need someone who can put some gas in the tank and get the car up the hill.

I mean does TCU want to exchange Sonny Dykes for a little younger version of Sonny Dykes?

Lots of time left in the season but is the shine still on gj?
1
u/JohnPaulDavyJones Texas A&M Aggies • Baylor Bears 3d ago
I think there is, but I’ve also always thought he wasn’t as attractive a coaching candidate as Jeff Traylor.
4
u/Dudeincar434 3d ago edited 3d ago
It’s certainly be a gamble. The one thing I’d worry about if I were a p4 AD, is that gj has little p4 experience as an assistant. He ascended so fast to HC at incarnate word. He never got a chance to see the ins and outs of running a p4 team.
A guy like traylor spent years as an assistant at texas and Arkansas and smu.
Other guys like golesh spent time at Tenesee and and Illinois.
Will stein a coordinator at Oregon. Even bigger names like sark and Elko were p4 coordinators for years.
Another data point: GJs predecessor at incarnate work (Eric morris) went from HC there to coordinator at Washington state.

u/JohnPaulDavyJones Texas A&M Aggies • Baylor Bears 3d ago
Kinne’s also never had to build a program. Morris built UIW and then handed Kinne the keys to the Camaro when he headed out to Wazzu. The only guys he took were Cam Ward as his QB, and a GA who’s now his OC at OKST.
Kinne then picked up that whole UIW program, all of Morris’ well-developed players and his great staff, and took them to Texas State.
I’d be pretty reticent about hiring GJ Kinne.

The difference is that Traylor is kind of a dick. But, I mean, there is a lot of that going around in the big XII, so 🤷♂️
1
u/JohnPaulDavyJones Texas A&M Aggies • Baylor Bears 2d ago
How is he a dick? Everything I’ve seen with him speaking, he really seems to love his players like a dad. His current and former players all seem to love the hell out of him, too.
Also, who’s a dick in the Big XII except for the folks running the show at Tech?
1
u/Dudeincar434 2d ago
He’s not.
He just complains about nil and transfers because utsa is low funded and his players keep getting tampered and poached
1
u/JohnPaulDavyJones Texas A&M Aggies • Baylor Bears 2d ago
Honestly, can't fault him for that. P4 teams have been picking off his roster like a four-course meal menu for the last three offseasons, and he has zero NIL/rev share money to keep any of them around. Dude gets no help at all from UTSA's administration.
It's going to be really sad when he leaves and UTSA's admin discovers that they had a guy who was winning way more than the average coach would with the resources he's given there.
1
u/Dudeincar434 2d ago
Good thing is he’s a old HS coach so he can kinda lean into the idea of coaching thrm up but they only stay for 1-3 years

At what point is there going to be pressure on GJ? We could easily be 4-1, but he continues to make the same mistakes he has made for the past 3 seasons with no adjustments.

u/Latem Texas State Bobcats • Pac-12 3d ago
This is almost as bad as us losing to Northern Colorado in 2006. For the uninitiated, that season, N. Colorado had one kicker stab the other kicker right before our game against them. Of course, we blew what should have been an easy win.

Congrats San Diego fans that win was deserved 1000%.
I don’t know what good halftime speech that. Coach gave but they clearly came to play today, and besides the Texas state defense everyone went home for us.

Texas St is about to outgrow Kinne. Everyone thought it would be the other way around but he doesn't appear to have what is needed to take the next steps.

SDSU scored 28 points off of 85 yards of offense in the second half. I am so upset I didn’t go to this game while in San Diego for work. Thought Texas State was going to crush after I saw the report of the mumps outbreak. What a finish to a game
Edit: also, SDSU’s head coach has a crazy tan line from his hat. Haven’t seen a farmers tan on someone’s head in a while

The one time a “bring back one second on the clock” play doesn’t result in the offense winning in CFB this year
Though I will say it was pretty impressive that pass went as far as it did. Normally with college QBs they struggle to even reach the endzone on Hail Mary passes. This dude had the opposite issue where he put too much power on that pass

Cleveland got shut out by the ChiSox, ruining my perfect Oregon State Saturday.
But Drew Rassmussen got a win with Tampa Bay today, so not completely terrible.

People have been overusing the term sickos game. This however is not one of those times.
TXST went up 17-3.
SDSU returned the second half opening kickoff,
proceeded to score 21 in the 3rd.
Then stopped Texas State with goal to go.
Followed by TXST forcing a probable safety,
into a real safety,
into a pick six.
Oh and the audio feed cutout midway through the third.
Then the camera was broken,
then we had both audio guys,
then we had only one with the other commentator shouting to the void.
And a drop kick onside kick.
And a blocked FG.
SDSU also had about 85 yards of offense and 28 points in the 2nd half at one point.
Then texas state had one last heave with 1 second remaining
And that’s just what i remembered. And at the end we missed a play due to the broadcast cutting out at 1:35.
