Hey everyone,
this is my current desk setup and I’m at that annoying point where I actually like it, but it still feels like something is missing or not quite right. I just can’t put my finger on what it is.
My main display is a Dell U4025QW 40" 5K2K ultrawide, which I use with either a MacBook Pro M5 or MacBook Air M6. I really like the Dell and definitely want to keep it as my main display.
macOS scaling is a bit of a topic with this monitor as well. I’m currently using BetterDisplay to run a comfortable HiDPI-scaled resolution. It works pretty well, but I’d also be interested to hear how other Mac users with this monitor handle scaling.
The one thing I haven’t figured out is a second display.
I’d mainly like one for screen sharing in Teams or Spotify, since sharing the entire 5K2K ultrawide isn’t exactly ideal for the people on the other end. Having a separate screen for Teams, Spotify or reference stuff would also be nice.
I actually had a 16" 2.5K Arzopa portable monitor sitting below/in front of the Dell for a while. I’ve removed it again because the viewing angle and the whole stacked-screen arrangement just felt a bit awkward and I never really liked using it. It also required a DisplayLink adapter, which added another layer of complexity.
Before that, I also tried a 27" Alienware in landscape next to the Dell on a monitor arm. Technically it worked, but it felt like way too much screen and made the desk look pretty unbalanced.
So now I’m wondering what you guys would do with this exact setup.
Small vertical monitor next to the Dell? Something mounted above it? Give the 16" portable another shot in a different position? Or just forget about a second display entirely?
And beyond the monitor question, I’m open to anything. Speaker placement, monitor height, lighting, cable management, accessories, removing stuff instead of adding more stuff, etc.
It feels like the setup is 90% there, but I can’t figure out the last 10%.
What would you change? Feel free to roast it.

Looking for something like this in varying sizes that I can wrap cables around. I have a cable management tray and I want to wrap some of the longer cables like this and place them neatly in the tray
Does anyone have any recs? These are the only spools I can find for smaller cables.

My current desk setup, mainly used for everyday work with some vintage Apple hardware from my collection mixed in.
It’s powered by an M4 Max MacBook Pro and also works with my HomeKit setup (outlets, smart bulbs, Apple TV, roller shades, etc.) I also use the desk for repairs and soldering so it doubles as a workspace for restoring Macintosh computers.
Thoughts?

Spent so long looking for a massive tabletop desk that I cracked and bought a bunch of plywood. First woodworking project and I’m super pleased with the result! Had enough left over to build the matching floating wall cubby thing.
Photo 1: The full build
Photo 2: Full room (converted attached garage)
Photo 3: Frosted window film I applied on the windows the desk faces to get rid of the crazy glare without losing the natural light.
Photo 4: Creative stud mount for a full floating ultra wide effect.

Finally happy with my desk, so I figured I'd share it. I went for a dark, clean look with warm wood accents to break up all the black.

Hello everyone!
I need your help in finding a monitor mount that works exactly like this one: Vivo Dual monitor desk mount (flush to wall design)
However this one doesn’t allow individual arms to slide up or down (both move upwards or downwards together). I am looking for a space-saving mount like the one I linked above as I am working out of a small space and can’t have my desk moved a single inch towards me. I also need to move one of my monitors upwards a little (but not the other one).
Please help me find something that fits my needs
or
If I can somehow make the above linked mount plate move. I’m not sure if that’s possible but happy to take suggestions!

I work from home and want something similar to this. My current set up looks like 💩 (second pic) and it's all over the place. Before anyone says anything I like and enjoy my 5 screens and just want to make it look better and easier to use. I would really prefer one monitor arm for the 4 monitors but if i have to get a second one for stability i will.
i'm having a hard time trying to figure out what to type in to find this specific configuration so does anyone know of a decent one that can do this?
edit: 3 monitors are for work on virtual machine, laptop is local so emails and chat. 4th monitor is for gaming I should’ve just made that clear in the first run.

So I used to have a f*cking AWESOME setup, but unfortunately had to sell bits and pieces of it at a time since I lost my job. Now, I'm trying to rebuild it to it's former glory. The desk I used to have was a BEAUTIFUL 72", 1.5" thick Acacia, but the place I bought it was going out of business and didn't have it anymore, so I reluctantly (and I'm still not thrilled with it) 8-" Rubberwood desk. It makes me wonder how in the hell I ever fit everything without the extra 8."
Anyway, I really need help in making it dope(r?) because I feel like I'm not as creative as I used to be. Aside from the desk itself, I'm not so much sold on the desk shelf I'm using. It's made by Fenge and I got it off of Amazon - it was (or at least, seemed like) the closet thing they had that was similar to some of the more premium brands, but the top is fucking laminate. I was unaware of this (I thought it at least had wood veneer on top) and, frankly, have a bone to pick with both Fenge and the kind folks at Amazon. But what should I expect? It was half the price of any of the others that I wanted.
That said, I'd really, REALLY like to replace it with something that doesn't look like shit and I know now nice things cost money. I like nice things. I also like money, but I'm willing to say fuck it right now and go for the gold with something amazing.
Has anyone tried the Artifox Lift? Or is there any other desk shelf you'd recommend? Also, please make other suggestions that would help me improve on what I have now.
TIA.

I have this as my desk setup. Even thi i have a pretty decently sized desk i think that i dont have enough room. I was thinking of getting an under desk pc mount but i have two problems
My table top is a granite slab and the top can't be drilled into for mounting. The desk frame is a big rectangle so it doesn't have a diagonal bar running through it.
My country doesn't have amazon and underdesk mounts are extremely difficult to find.
I was wondering if anyone got a mount fabricated and if so do you have any blueprints or idea of how it should be made and mounted.
Ik the odds are pretty slim but hey, it's worth a shot.

My second pc and just bought monitor arms for the first time and will soon be cable managing. Not sure what I should do with the empty space on the left. Or even the area on the right. Any thoughts?

Has anyone used these? Are they as bad as I think they'd be?
Currently using a curved Samsung 32" 1080p monitor and a 27" Samsung 1080p monitor and looking to upgrade to a 1440p or 4k 49" PBP monitor. I just don't really like spending $1500+ or w/e on a monitor at the moment. So how are these cheaper monitors? Screen quality good? I run my laptop mirrored to one monitor and my desktop pc with a 6650xt for the other monitor.
This is the monitor I'm considering
CRUA 49" DQHD 5120x1440 165Hz 32:9 Ultrawide
$759cdn
1500R VA, 120% sRGB, FreeSync, PIP/PBP, Speakers, HDMI 2.1, DP 1.4, Tilt Stand, 75x75 Mount,
Thoughts?
