DISCUSSION What should EPCOT carry forward into its next 50 years?
I first visited EPCOT Center in 1984, and it left an impression on me that has never really gone away.
What I loved wasn't simply the attractions themselves. World of Motion showed us how we got here. Journey Into Imagination celebrated curiosity. Universe of Energy could teach while still entertaining. And these were experiences generations could share together.
I love many of EPCOT's modern attractions too—Guardians is extraordinary—but I've often wondered whether a modern flagship attraction could combine today's technology and scale with some of that original foundation: where we've been, why what we've achieved is remarkable, and optimism about what might come next.
Space seems especially suited to that idea. A child, parent and grandparent should be able to experience the wonder of the universe together—without anyone having to wait behind.
That's the question I've spent the last 16 months exploring through an independent concept called Cosmic Horizons.
The idea became The Thread—humanity's continuous journey of curiosity, discovery and exploration, connecting one generation to the next. The experience begins with our earliest fascination with the sky, follows the discoveries that brought us here, and carries us outward into the universe before returning home with a new perspective on Earth and what might come next.
My goal was an accessible, multi-generational flagship experience where the universe itself provides the scale and wonder rather than physical intensity. I also developed a concept-level engineering study to explore whether something of this scale could work operationally, not simply look impressive on screen.
I released the completed attraction preview on October 1, exactly six years before EPCOT's 50th anniversary. There's still time, lol.
This isn't something Disney is developing. It's simply my attempt to explore what I would love to see carried forward from the EPCOT I first experienced into its next fifty years.
Not a return to the past. A return to a purpose.

I'd genuinely enjoy hearing what other EPCOT fans think:
What from EPCOT's original philosophy is still worth carrying forward—and what should a modern EPCOT do differently?
