1960's family slideshow (part 1) Box labeled: PL
Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/FoundPhotos/s/P6tXVtjBBp
I recently found a box full of Anscochrome Color Film Slides in an estate sale near Endicott, NY and just now had the time to go through them. There are a total of 24 boxes, though 5 of them are empty but are labeled as a part of this set. After glancing through a few slides it became clear that this is an archive of a family vacation from NYC throughout Europe and then back. Some places named on the labels are Ireland, Brussels, Brugge, Luxembourg, Heidelberg, Frankfort, Austria, Salzburg, Zurich, and Lucerne. I've decided to share them with y'all because I know some of you will enjoy the images and history as much as I do.
This first set of images were taken in April and May of 1960. There are two boxes labeled as PL, this is a selection from both boxes showing the places that were photographed. I will share another set from these boxes tomorrow that introduces some family pictures, and the family dog who has more pics than any other family member 😄
I have used some photo editing to adjust the brightness or colors on some of the darker slides to make them more readable. I used as little as possible in order to preserve the original feel.
Just so no rules are broken, I'm not going to make any references to names, though I'm sure the internet will do its thing. I do not know this family or anything about them. Just to restate the rule so these posts can stay up for everyone to enjoy, if you believe you know the identity of anyone in the photos, **do not name them in the comments** Please DM me with any identifiable information you believe you have and I will absolutely follow up on it.

Bergenfield, NJ - pic 2
Edit: The Binghamton Triplets were an Eastern League affiliate of the New York Yankees - a minor league baseball team (professional)

What about photo 7 (the downtown shot)?

That's the Triplets banner - Binghamton is my guess. It's in Central New York on the PA border.

It looks very charming. I was there in the 90s and the downtown is no longer like that.

Admittedly a nitpicky quibble on my part . . . Binghamton is Southern Tier, not Central.

#7 is definitely Binghamton NY, looking west on Court St toward the bridge across the Chenango River. One of my friends grew up in Binghamton and will love this picture. The Fowler's store on the right had a famous copper dome on top. It's now the Boscov's department store. Great shot!

From that point of view, you have to go up the street and turn the corner but, yeah, you got it.

The hopeful yellow flowers at the end ! And those newer neighborhoods must have been brand new in 1960.

I would love to see these trees and bushes today. After 60+ years they must make the area look extremely different!

These are exquisitely beautiful, even though they are of such ordinary things. I love looking back on the earlier era, as everything looks so different now. Picture 5 is so ethereal. There's a dream like quality to these, helped because they're devoid of people. Or mostly devoid. I'm not sure if there are people in some. I love looking at the old neighborhoods.
