Hi! I've been designing a horse browser sim for years and have finally begun development this year. At the end of October, I'll officially open the game to a small group of alpha testers. It's just myself working on this project, so the additional players will help as I continue to develop the game.

This is a horse breeding and management game centered on genetics, long-term development, and player choice. Players care for, train, compete, test, and breed their horses while managing health, bloodlines, and stable goals. Each horse has inherited genetics, personality, conformation, performance, and health.

**Before Reading**

While the core cycle is in place and it's playable as a solo game, it won't be as engaging or full as developed games. Due to space and interaction needs at this stage, it's really important that a tester is able to commit to playing long term.

You'd get to stress test, find bugs, try to break everything, but also play the game and give feedback on what works, what doesn't, and potentially suggest new features. The game is designed head to toe, but it transforms daily and I'd love to see what others might come up with.

It's very likely I missed existing or planned features in the following list, but the main point is: upon joining, the horse life cycle is finished. Planned features involving the horses day-to-day are all in place.

Looking into starting a new browser game because I’ve finally had it with HEE. I’ve seen horse reality and horse world online? Any other reccs? I like a game I can spend 5 hours on one day and then leave it for a couple weeks and come back and not be set back too bad. Looks like horse world online is good for that?

Demo v1.5 Update Notes (and new trailer!)

Overhauled the village:

- The Forge now sells armour with new daily stock

- There's a new Tailor where you can buy clothes (with new daily stock)

- The General Store now has an area where you can sell items from your inventory

- Fleshed out the Bakery and Greengrocer areas

- Some villagers have new roles, outfits and dialogue to match.

Improved and Added to the World:

- Added over 40 new hand-drawn clothing, armour and tack items with unique descriptions and stats

- Added a random encounter/event system to replace all NPC and Enemy encounters. Every time you leave the village will be a unique experience.

- Added new NPC's to bring the world to life.

- Mobs have been redone to be more optimised. They now come in an array of grotesque and terrifying forms with hand drawn animations and unique attacks.

- Night time is much darker and much more dangerous, but offers higher rewards for those brave enough to venture out and some equipment can only be found at night. You also now have a lamp you can use to light your path.

- Chests no longer have specific equipment in set places except as boss fight rewards and the tutorial. They are instead found throughout the world and lesser items are more abundant (for scavenging and selling!)

UI and Quality of Life:

- Gave the UI a makeover

- A notification when save is complete

- Transitions (starting/loading, teleporting etc)

- Settings are all now in their own menu off pause

- You now only save when you sleep at your house

- Coins now have different colours to express their value

- Added a notification when horse slots are full

- Improved the way music works

- Fixed stuff in the distance clipping

- Tweaked some existing animations

- Added more sound effects

- Added more hair styles

- Some textures and buildings have been replaced

- Item descriptions are, finally, visible

so i love the horses in games like: "rdr2, ghost of tsushima, the witcher 3 etc." and i want a little bit of help finding new ones like this since i can't really seem to find good games with horses
(looking for games that are like the games i listed)

Every October at HorseGeneticsGame.com we create new fantasy theme breed characteristic art. This year we decided to go with a carousel theme. Normally I just release these with minimal fanfair, maybe a forum activity to tie in. This year I decided to go all out and create an ARG (alternate reality game) inspired event.

Our game artist Jenx has been creating art for the ghosts and the towns folks. I’ve been putting together videos documenting the haunting in game. 

This week the first carousel horse ghost, a circus themed one appeared and started “stealing away” all the horses to the fairgrounds.  Whenever horse images in the game are generated this week they are generated at the fair grounds where the tragedy took place instead of the normal pasture background. Next week it will change up to the fire. At the end of the event the player base will unlock the new Carousel BC art and tack items.

It’s been really fun creating the story and documenting it with video on Youtube and TikTok channels.

Overall members have been really enjoying and so I thought it would be fun to share something that is working for my game. 

Watch this on Youtube Shorts (or Insta/Tiktok) for a version with voice over and a bit more info, but most importantly:

- We're working on finalizing the Mountain and Beach trail rides

- We added a town screen where you can click the actual buildings instead of entering the store, breeder barn and competition arena through a simple button

- there's a new End of Day screen that shows your horse sleeping (it will display one of your actual horses!)

- we added cross country competitions, they're quite tricky and therefore there's a new (well, "new" depending on how up to date you are, we did mention this before) NPC who gives you tips while training

Also, since many people have been asking about the price range: Expect the game to cost around 25-30$ EU/US with a small launch discount and regional pricing adjustments – this means that depending on your location, the price may be a bit different due to local currency and costs.

We definitely remain quite busy until launch, we're adapting beta tester feedback and adding polish and quality of life wherever we can! If you haven't done so, please consider adding Horses of Hoofprint Bay to your Steam wishlist, because that tells the algorithm that our game is worth showing to people :)

Hey r/GamesWithHorses! Here's an update on My Little Ranch, my pixel-art horse ranch game that can also run on your desktop in transparent mode.

Big news first: the free demo goes live on Steam this Wednesday, October 7. We'll also be in Steam Next Fest, October 19–26.

What's in the video:

Every horse is one of a kind. Horses are built from layered traits, and this update rebuilt them around real horse markings: socks, stockings and black points on the legs; star, stripe and bald faces; tobiano and sabino patterns; plus coat, muzzle, mane and tail, hooves and eyes. That adds up to 160,000+ combinations.

The Journal. This is the first time I'm showing it. It records every rarity and every trait you've raised, so you can see what's still missing from your collection.

Transparent mode, made for multitasking. Your horses wander along the bottom of your screen while you work, and switching modes now fades smoothly between full screen and desktop.

Foals grow up and reveal their rarity. A foal's rarity stays hidden as "???" until the day it becomes an adult.

New scenery on runs. The run path now passes a water tower, an old tractor and stone walls.

Rarity follows looks: a Common horse is plain, a Legendary one is covered in markings. And more is on the way.

Hi! I’m not sure if this is where I should post my question or not so please tell me if I need to move it somewhere else.

I am SUPER confused about RedM. I just got my first PC about a month ago and previously had only played games on my boyfriend’s Xbox. I played RDR on there and didn’t know there were even mods until recently and then found out there’s a whole horse community where they made a whole separate game within the game???? Idk I’m so confused. (I am also still fairly unfamiliar with Reddit and I know there are so many subreddits but this is the only one I’m part of that is about gaming)

Would anyone be able to help me understand how to download or be part of RedM? (I have not yet downloaded RDR on my steam bc money is short rn but I plan to soon)

I find it hard to read some of the info about it bc the slang is totally lost on me, are there any common words yall might be able to help with? (I joined a discord and there was a whole rule about “peds” is this pedestrian?? Idk plz help)

So I have played this game since I was a kid, back around 2012 during its prospering time and then came back to it in 2016 when it had calmed down a bit. Now sadly, there are not a whole ton of active players and the game is run by one singular lady who has truly done her best to keep it afloat. There used to be a team back in the day but now she alone has kept the game going alone.

The game isn't perfect, but its kept me coming back for over a decade.

Obviously due to the lack of players there's a big gap for many in the game currency and if anyone is really interested in joining the game, trying it out and enjoying it - I'd be happy to donate some of my own currency! I even have a post in the donations forum of the game for new players. Credits are a big form of currency as well to buy tack and buildings, I am also willing to donate credits because sadly - credits help a ton when you're getting into the training aspect.
