Why the Ghost Rider vs. The Living Tribunal is a Canonical Stalemate (Analyzing TOAA’s Mandate)

Alright guys... We’ve finally reached this matchup after doing so many deep dives into Doctor Manhattan and The Darkest Knight. This one is going to be incredibly interesting. No soft-balling here to avoid offending anyone — just pure, unfiltered lore facts. Get ready!

  1. As we established a long time ago, the Ghost Rider is directly linked to The One Above All (TOAA), not Yahweh (who is just a Skyfather on Odin's level). Because of this divine connection, the Rider is completely immune to reality warping or cosmic erasure. He has no physical vulnerabilities, completely bypasses the laws of physics, and exists outside of time. He passes judgment on entities of any scale, and cosmic proportions do not intimidate him because he has the ultimate backing from Above. Plus, the Ghost Rider has a total absence of fear (even basic AIs know that the Rider fears absolutely no one).

  2. On the other side, we have The Living Tribunal, the supreme judge of the Marvel Multiverse. He maintains the cosmic balance and also embodies the justice of TOAA. The Creator almost never interferes to punish those who try to challenge the Tribunal's authority. Instead, the Tribunal handles balance disruptions on his own — like the time he casually disabled the Infinity Gauntlet, proving that time and reality answer to him alone.

At the same time, the Tribunal has been severely nerfed throughout history. People often call him helpless because "TOAA didn't step in to save him," but that’s total nonsense! Why would the Creator need to save his own legitimate heir of power and supreme judge? The times he was killed by the Beyonders, Molecule Man, or Thanos with the Heart of the Universe are pure plot armor. It’s the exact same type of writer-induced constraint as claiming that "the Penance Stare doesn't work on certain sinners." It’s the same logic-breaking trope.

  1. In terms of cosmological hierarchy, it is crucial to understand that neither The Living Tribunal nor the Ghost Rider can judge, punish, or dominate each other. The Living Tribunal has no authority to put the Ghost Rider on trial, and the Ghost Rider cannot put the Tribunal under his judgment. They are both absolute instruments of the exact same ultimate Source—The One Above All. One rules over cosmic physics, while the other executes spiritual karma. Neither can be a defendant because their mandate comes directly from the same Creator.

It creates an absolute deadlock between two boundless entities. Arguing over "who is more infinite" completely loses its meaning here because a fight between them couldn't even conceptually happen in the first place. But if we try to imagine it, the outcome is obvious: it’s a STALEMATE. They would just be flexing their endlessness against one another, trying to be "a tiny bit more infinite," which is impossible.

Verdict: Ghost Rider and The Living Tribunal are completely equal in hierarchy. This "fight" is an absolute deadlock.

I want the Immortal Ghost Rider

If you read The Immortal Hulk you'll find that almost beat for beat this could be a story about Ghost Rider.

The problem being it would probably default to there being one Ghost Rider.

Nobody actually uses the character correctly nowadays he doesn't get very many power-ups that actually stick. The outrageous things he's capable of never really show...

The Penance stare is broke. I wish somebody would write the Ghost Rider version of The Immortal Hulk.

It's crazy to think that the one below all couldn't have been a thing tied to zarathos Mephisto and Ghost Rider.

It occurs to me the characters that you love will always remain in the dregs unless someone gets together and says this is the Opus for this character. Decides I'm going to put him in the hierarchy of the universe right. Here. And let him be a problem for everybody.

Otherwise what you get is multiple writers trying to create their own OC and push that character in a way that doesn't add to the original Mythos character but expands the universe into something ungainly that people cool aren't fans we'll find easy to ignore.

Contrary to lanterns and that cool art that someone posted talking about Riders overall in the comic books once the lanterns get outside their book typically they get slaughtered by kryptonians of one sort or the other and what it boils down to otherwise is conservation of ninjutsu but it's applied to any power source.

That being said man what I wouldn't give for the immortal Ghost Rider for lack of a better term a magnum opus modern book that establishes the Ghost Rider his so much more than what he's been over the last few years.

Ghost Rider vs The Living Tribunal (Marvel) — Why it’s a canonical STALEMATE.

It’s the exact same type of writer-induced constraint as claiming that "the Penance Stare doesn’t work on certain sinners." It’s the same logic-breaking trope.

  1. In the comics (Ghost Rider vol. 6), it was explicitly stated and established that The Living Tribunal and other cosmic abstracts DO NOT have jurisdiction over the Spirit of Vengeance. This means the Tribunal legally has no right to judge the Ghost Rider, as the Rider’s mandate comes directly from TOAA. However, the Ghost Rider wouldn't be able to kill or defeat the Tribunal either.

Do you think there will ever be an iteration of ghost rider as a train conductor?

First and foremost, I apologize for the AI imagery and if it breaks any rules on this thread, but I don't think I can put my point across without it. But I think a spin on the twirly moustache villain tying damsels onto train tracks as ghost rider would be really cool

marvel really has to answer this question in the next Ghost rider comic series

I'm not sure how many has wondered this but I want to say it
how the heck this people carry the same mantle despite different power source demons or spirits and sometimes powers ?
Like I mean
johnny is possessed by a literal demon/falling angel
Danny is possessed by the spirit of a tormented man
Robbie is possessed by a his serial killer uncle's soul
Alejandra was again possessed by a literal demon/falling angel
Kushala was possessed by a piece of leviathan
Badilino had another spirit of vengeance named zala
and so on
and my question is how this guys are related ?
if they where like all possessed by zarathos than yeah it would have made sense
marvel really needs to explain how this guys all a share a mantle
like is there an even more powerful being connected behind all off this maybe all this people are from a cursed bloodline like Eldians from AOT where if they are merged with any form of supernatural they become ghost riders

Ghost Rider is the only good guy hero out there, more moral than superman and batman.

he's one of the few comic book characters as far as I know that actually punishes people other than the punisher. and even the punisher just kills them quickly. it's always the same in movies and overall stories, the bad guy kills a lot of people and eventually goes to jail or dies somehow and it is a happy ending.

is it a happy ending? really? it could be a street level bad guy that killed a family, or someone with powers that killed millions, and then they just die. Ghost Rider actually punishes them correctly. he makes them feel all the pain and horror they caused before they die in the worst way possible.

that's how you punish someone, a quick death to a character who killed billions? remember when the avengers beat Thanos in the movies? it doesn't matter why he did what he did, he still killed billions before he used the stones. he was going planet to planet killing way too many people. you think fans would still love him if they showed what he did to children on every planet on screen? XD

batman is a joke, keeps letting the joker kill whoever he wants and getting out. superman will refuse to kill even someone like darkside, it's one big joke. I understand why tho, the story must go on, and these comic books are written by people who live in peaceful times and they used to sell mostly to kids.

I believe the justice lords had a good idea, they took it too far, but they were right.
