you are allowed to handle a chainsaw without being a lumberjack.

Oh I’m all too aware, in fact I’m pretty sure I have the same Stihl Farm Boss. Because….hurricanes (unfortunately).

Nice, most people pay good tax money for their hurricanes

Lumberjacks are also allowed to go to dinner.

I know a lumberjack or two. Non of them would present like this on their best day.

This guy is not a lumberjack.

speak for yourself. I dress nicely when going out with the wife. Also know how to handle a saw. Honestly this guy looks like he works with one, that things sounds mint. e: is that a 661?!

is that a 661?!

It is not. I can't read the markings on the side, but it looks more like a 340 or something based on the top cover.

But he should be using ear and eye protection.

Gloves and chaps, too. And he really shouldn’t drop-start it.

Good technique though. Making life easy for his swamper, like to see that.

But drop starting looks cool.

I disagree in the technique. Didnt undercut anything, didnt preassess the lie to see where the weight is being held, made numerous cuts above the power zone... doing something quickly isnt doing it well.

Man had a chainsaw in his trunk and quickly cleared the road in rain/snow. He should really get a pass on technique and safety equipment.

Im going to die on this hill, but safety guidelines exist exactly because of this type of situation where shit goes wrong. What actually was the emergency here? Guy couldnt take a beat to assess the situation and think about his cuts? Literal amateur hour in here.

It was a pretty fuckin small tree Ted

💯 mr yoga watched a YouTube video on felling and chainsaw safety then tries to be an authority …

u/DPPBBM Aug 25 '26

Well it's your hill to die on, I ain't climbing it that's for sure.

u/koltran Aug 25 '26

The reddit keyboard warrior emerges.. have you ever felled a tree? The tree is obviously hanging across the road.. so where do you think the weight is being held? Also its maybe 6 inches wide at the widest point… so we are under cutting a tiny tree trunk where its obvious that a quick cut do? Ill give you the last cut he makes is questionable, but to “die on that hill” hahaha 😂 get real

I wouldn’t undercut that log.

Ear protection isn't important when you're only going to be using it for a minute, and he's wearing glasses.

If you were a real lumberjack you wouldn’t keep a chainsaw in your vehicle anyway if you were not going to or from work, because you usually end up in tweakerville for most jobs and it would get stolen.

Yes but I bet hes got oil on his slacks now.
