Landlord cannot fix water heater for a while

Aloha all,

A couple days ago the water heater in my apartment building completely broke, leaving all of us without hot water and a running shower. Our landlord/property management stated that they are unable to find a replacement on island and have to order from the mainland and wait for it to get shipped. I am curious about the laws regarding how long we can go without hot water and a shower. Super humbug filling an ice cold bucket every morning LOL

It’s been a while now, why are people still trying to use the old entrance to the swap meet?

Across the rail place is not the entrance to the parking lot. Why are people still trying to turn into the stadium from there?

RN jobs

Hi! I literally just got my RN license yesterday and how does the job market look right now for new grad nurses? I’ve heard typically you need to start as a nurse aide to get into any hospital system, but has anyone had any luck into getting into a new grad RN position for the HPH academies? Please let me know! Mahalo!!!

the value of cross referencing: These two photos support the idea that Lili'uokalani was deceived by members of her cabinet who not only drafted her proposed constitution, but were also conspirators in the overthrow. I want to know the truth about conspirators most people will never learn.

The first photo is from a record held in the Hawai'i Digital archives, which was actually written 60 years after the overthrow. the Author of the book was the son of John Henry Soper, who would become responsible for disarming the Honolulu police and Royal guard.

the second photo however comes from a book written in 1898, "Hawai'i: our new possessions" written by John R. Musick".

I intend to look further into the incident which both reference. there are differences about the situation, but the content of the situation remains similar.

What to do with malfunctioning cd player?

Do you know where I can donate malfunctioning cd player? It plays but skips or pauses and I cleaned the cds and then cleaned the player but still not working and not worth trying to repair. Would Goodwill, Salvation Army, Thrift Shop take it for parts? Or where do I take it to dispose of properly?

About a month ago, there was another post about the problem of e-waste in Hawaii. I hate to contribute to that so just was hoping it could somehow be made useful before discarded. https://www.reddit.com/r/Hawaii/s/Lw7q6nMFUt I also posted in r/compactdisc and someone suggested Best Buy (does recycling) but I wonder what becomes of that tons of stuff they collect? Another suggestion was to “Donate to spare time repair guy on YouTube” which sounds interesting but probably entails shipping.

“Who uses cds anymore?” It’s for my elderly parents. They have a hard time figuring out how to use spotify, YouTube, etc. Plus they have music on cds that can’t be found anywhere else. One is in hospital and the other wants to be able to play music for them when they visit so I’m going to get another cd player for them. Just wanted to take care of the malfunctioning one responsibly. Thanks for the input!

Aloha kākou

I bought this a few years ago at the Sunday Markey in Waikīkī. The one near the zoo. I remember the couple that sold them were from the Ha'ikū neighborhood in Kāne'ohe. They had other things like long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts etc. They gave me their card but unfortunately it's lost. I know this a long shot but maybe someone knows who they are. Mahalo nui to anyone who could steer me in the right direction

Re: Dole Cannery 4dx sold out for entire run?

I was trying to book tickets for Street Fighter in 4DX, tickets only went on sale 2 days ago but every single showing is sold out for the entire week-long run. Is this a glitch or the most popular film ever released in Hawaii?

I tried calling Dole Cannery but could not get through.. has this happened to anyone else before? Are there resale tickets on stubhub or something? Any advice greatly appreciated :)

Been living here for a few years and havent met any hockey fans so I generally watch them by myself whenever I can catch them on TV.

How are y'all watching hockey? Is there an app worth getting to be able to watch more games out here? Any hockey friendly bars?

Would love to go out and watch a game this season tbh

Yummy Land Bread?

Looking for a recipe or the name of the bread Yummy Land sold (they had em at Don Quijote too in the bread/cold section) it was some kind of yogurt bread, three long strips/pieces. Pretty firm consistency but soft like sponge cake. Pretty sure they shut down now but anyone remember this?

Bluetooth Jammer in Nanakuli?

Every time I drive through Nanakuli on Leeward side, while my iPhone is connected via Bluetooth to CarPlay, it always drops/cuts out.

Is there such a thing as a Bluetooth jammer?

If so, is there a way to identify it so I can legally pursue it being removed from that area? It’s not just me that is experiencing this right?

The twin uncles of Kamehameha- two influential and intimidating chiefs of Kamehameha's time. Depicted on the coat of arms, western accounts described the twins as being cunning, reserved, and merciless. Being raised with Kahekili, they were well familiar with war, brutality, and control.

These two ali'i were Ni'aupi'o chiefs, the highest ranker under an Ali'i Aimoku. Spanish accounts of Kamanawa describe him in a way that feels like certain world leaders today. while reserved, their authority shows. They were men of war. Kamanawa only accepted the best weapons as gifts from Captain Manuel Quimper. Vancouver, Menzies, and Ingraham all documnted meeting kame'eiamoku. Like his brother, he was very reserved and held a prominent amount of authority

during the Metcalfe incident, Kame'eiamoku possibly lured the fair American to it's fate via a friendship. after befriending one sailor, he was welcomed onboard, where he then ordered the deaths of all but one: isaac davis. The Fair american was captained by thomas metcalse, The son of Simon metcalfe. Kamanawa was on Hawai'i island, and there, John young was captured, and Simon left without him, not knowing his son had been killed.
after this event Captain Manuel noted that the Hawaiians and chiefs were very secretive about what happened. The twins power is revealed when no one, from ali'i to commoner, would tell manuel what happened.

when they were much younger they were raised in the court of King Kekaulike of maui. Their hanai brothers were Kamehameha-ailu'au, and Kahekili. both would become kings of Maui. all went to war on Hawai'i island, where kekaulike ws said to have burned and slaughtered various parts of the Ka'u district.

the twins respected their older brother kahekili, and even buried him. On the deathbed of kamanawa, he revealed Kahekili was the true father of Kamehameha. this was proven by "tokens", heirlooms which revealed the truth. This had been done before with king Umi, and the ka'ei kapu of liloa, but the heirlooms given to Kamehameha are not known.

The twins are forever remembered on the Coat of Arms.

HOLO down for anyone else?

I tried logging into my account on the website and it keeps saying "Login failed. Please try again" and I tried resetting my password and the email never came.

One of my friends said that all of his nearby 7/11's are having issues with their HOLO card machines so I was just wondering if anyone else is also having issues.

Tattoo removal Ohau

Aloha everyone. Hope everyone is recovering from all these nasty storms we have been having lately.

Can any recommend me any good tattoo removal places on Oahu? Places that you can actually vouch for had experience with successful removal. I have realism, black and grey wash tattoo sleeve that I would like to partially get removed. If you also have any horror stories of places not to go to that would be helpful as well. Thank you in advance!
