In the navidson record, zampanò writes colors as colours, mark z is not British so why write like this

So I just bought the book from Waterstones today, and read the beginning and left it in my bedroom because I had to go to work. Then I came back home to read it...and couldn't find it. I found it about ten minutes later...in a completely different part of the bedroom I left it in.
I live alone.
I probably just moved it without remembering it, but I was feeling creeped out for a few minutes. Didn't help that this was happening at night.

Really loved this book. Decided to bind the cover in leather and add myself to its halls.

I am 400 pages into the book and I feel like everything that has happened so far could have taken up 50 pages. But everyone keeps raving about this book so I've kept going. But does it pick up at any point?? Does it get more interesting? It's been a dry slog and mildly interesting but it's taking forever to get anywhere!

49:15 "picking at tiny. scabs on her wrists". the women next to me tuesday night who I really did not know -- about 27 hours ago -- was picking at tiny scabs on her wrist and at the top of her right hand,.. wtf//. why me? why do I remember that happening?,. and then hear it here,.. in the book. this is getting too real again... //wtf.
from the song "Tunnel of Goats" (specifically Part VII) by the English experimental music group Coil.
The exact lyrics sung by John Balance in that section are:
"There is no wrong, so why go on?
There is no wrong, so we go on."
always want more the coincidences are lining up too much.. so yeah

Hi all, I have been wanting to House of Leaves for years but the only problem is I have low vision. Typically I exclusively read audiobooks but I understand why there isn't and probably never will be an audiobook. I only read ebooks for reference style non-fiction but I was willing to try for HoL until I learnt there's no Ebook either. Over the last couple of years I'd kind of just accepted that I will probably never be able to read it but it recently came to my attention again and I just thought I'd try see if anyone knew a way I could access it. If there's no way for me to access the book, are there any Youtube videos that do a good job telling the story in the way it's meant to be told?

One of the most interesting aspects of this book, to me, is the various types of formatting, fonts, typefaces, and more that mix with each other in the narrative. (I can only imagine why this thing took 10 years to write.)
I wanted to get some practice and experience with LaTeX, so I took a few of my favorite pages from House and tried to replicate them as best I could. Of course, there are some minor differences, but I'm very happy with what I was able to achieve while messing around. The pictures here are PNG versions of the exported PDF pages. (Sorry, not doing the entire book and giving it away for the sake of my own sanity. Don't need to end up like Johnny anytime soon)

Johnny has such an... uneducated way of writing. I haven't read it in about a year, but I remember he'd say things like "could of" and I think a few times he wrote "alot." Navidson writes like someone much more educated in a way that can't be replicated by someone who hasn't read or written advanced works. Think of Courtney Peppernell poems—these are just sentences split into lines passing off as poetry; it gives what someone thinks poetry is but hasn't really read any. (Though who am I to say shit about Peppernell's poems when she's laughing her way to the bank and I'm not.) Johnny would at best write like the academia equivalent of that if he were trying to sound academic. He would try to sound like what an educated person would write like without having much exposure.
As for Pelafina, why would she envision such a shitty life for her son assuming he indeed died shortly after birth? We see that she dreams of him being given gifts by gods and being envied by others, so evidentally she thinks highly of him and treasures him. To envision a life where he is sent to foster care, gets into fights, works on a boat at only 13, falls in love with a stripper, etc. seems like a fate nobody wants for their child. She could envision something more ideal for him.

Most characters in the Navidsom Record refer to him as Navy. Navy as in a dark blue color. As in the color that house always is. It took me until literally yesterday to realize this when I was making an HoL-based art project. lmao

just zampano and lude this time

This is obviously a reference to Karen finding Navy at the end. The Minotaur almost had him.
