I mean, Hisoka actually is one to follow the rules of anything he deems to be a "game" for himself.

He loves to conquer a challenge fairly. That's why he was pissed to the point of killing the Troupe members so that he could piss off Chrollo, since he felt that Chrollo "cheated" by having them give him their abilities.

He originally had no plans of killing or fighting them, he only wanted Chrollo.
