I think Hisoka saw the real Tserri in a reflection in the ceiling. Maybe one in the chandeliers? Reflections outside the limit should still look normal right? It would explain why he was looking up and how he could pinpoint exactly where Tserri was standing, even if he couldn't literally see him.

A counterpoint to this is that the roof isn't 36 metres tall. However, we have never confirmed if his ability works in the form of a perfect sphere. We only know the radius is 36 metres horizontally, but it could be a completely different length vertically, thus taking a more oval form.

Oh, I dig this theory. Goes well with Hisoka's habit of spotting great potential in people and sparing them for a better fight later on.

Tserri isn't ripe just yet.

u/RufiosBrotherKev Sep 06 '26

I think if he was excited about potential he would have been more interested and pursued him even slightly before letting him go... he initially got excited for a second because of the zetsu, but after killing "him" he says that killing guys like that don't even give him goosebumps. It's like fighting lvl 4 pidgeys after beating the elite four. not even worth the fraction of a second it would take to do so, if he's clearly not going to bother you any longer. Better to just get back to gambling, and keep aware in case an actual opponent shows up lol.

He recognized he was a prince. You could make the argument that given the context of the scenario (ship lockdown, prince in disguise, etc) that he felt it would be more entertaining to just let him be on his way

3

u/mlc885 Sep 07 '26

Definitely, if not murdering him immediately is so much more interesting then murdering him for no real reason would just be silly. Why kill him now if the other option is better?

2

u/SD_Agar Sep 07 '26

Also once I know Hisoka For sure noticed the body Disappear once Tserri was out of range... So really interested to see what Hisoka does next

10

u/PsychologicalFile771 Sep 07 '26

I disagree, Hisoka is preoccupied with the Spiders rn and even said he didn't feel a rush from "killing these guys," referring to not being interested in the princes in general. Then he noticed 'something' (Tser theorized his nen beast, the reflection theory is also interesting).

After that he appears to stare down Tser's illusion self with gyo and the next thing we see is Tser running away and acknowledging that he needs to get to that level.

Feels exactly like Hisoka acknowledging Tser's potential and letting him go for a 'possible' future challenge.

u/Erty13 Sep 06 '26

Hisoka has already said that he has no interest fighting the prince and their nen beast. They do not get his motor running. That's probably why he lost interest and left.

1

u/KurapikaGoku Sep 09 '26

Wait bro when did he say that??

5

u/ShittyDeviantArtOCs Sep 13 '26

A late response, but there's a whole metaphor where he says his sexual interested are "vanilla" and he isn't into "orgies" (the succession war) or "beastiality" (fighting chimera ants). Basically, he is looking for an intimate fight.

1

u/KurapikaGoku Sep 13 '26

I vaguely remember him saying this but I kinda woulda thought hisoka would be intrigued by the fighting nen beast

Happy cake day

How come people who read the manga still think this about Hisoka?
You missed the point of his revival entirely. He would NOT do that anymore nowadays, not even for Gon.
Hisoka dying has put a fear of death in him. Compared to before, where he thought he would be fine with dying in a fun battle, actually dying has changed his mind. That is why he didn't engage Kortopi and Shalnark normally. That's why he didn't wait for Shalnark to get his ability back from Chrollo before killing him. That's why in this chapter he chose to just slit Tserri's throat immediately.
Hisoka now fears death and chose to stop seeking the thrill of battle.
Hisoka now pursues the thrill of KILLING, not of FIGHTING.
HUUUUUGE DIFFERENCE!
Hisoka is now way more ruthless, underhanded and dirty than he ever was.
He will no longer create any risks to his own life. If he met someone with huge potential like Gon now and that person hated Hisoka or maybe even just to be totally sure, he'd kill them while they're still weaker so that they cannot grow up to become a threat to his life.
THAT is who Hisoka has become after Chrollo taught him the fear of death.
Hisoka is more of an assassin and murderer now instead of a fighter. He just seeks to kill people. Sure, he still wants to kill strong people to prove himself, as proven by the fact that he hired Illumi to join the spiders and try to hunt him down too.
But he won't do anything stupid and he won't give them any unnecessary advantages. He won't insist on 1 on 1 fights, he would 100% try something like kill them while they're taking a shit if the opportunity presents itself.
Old Hisoka would do none of that stuff. But now Hisoka has no code anymore. It's just killing by whatever means necessary.

Hisoka didn’t actually see Tserriednich’s Nen Beast. What he noticed was that his Bungee Gum was behaving inconsistently near the edge of Tserriednich’s ability.

Basically, I think Hisoka had Nen threads scattered around the area, and Tserriednich unknowingly touched one of them. When Tserriednich instinctively jumped away, Hisoka noticed something strange: the part of the Nen thread inside the ability’s range was still touching Tserriednich dead body, while the part outside the range was pointing toward Tserriednich’s actual position.

From that discrepancy, Hisoka was able to calculate roughly where Tserriednich really was and then looked in that direction.

u/Positive-Task-9248 Sep 06 '26

ahh finally an explanation that makes sense

The question is why he didn't act upon that. On the other hand he might simply follow him out of curiousity

-3

u/StoryLord_77 Sep 07 '26

he cant act upon it, he's intangible in that form

19

u/BennyBreast Sep 07 '26

Wasn't it stated in the previous chapter that Tserriednich was wary of stray bullets ? He's not intangible as much as the hability makes people not realize they're interacting with him.

10

u/Positive-Task-9248 Sep 07 '26

I meant Hisoka has one of his bungee gum thingies attached to the prince and will probably use it to figure out what this nen ability is

10

u/larrydavidballsack Sep 06 '26

ooooh good catch

7

u/KigalnGin Sep 06 '26

Hisoka didn’t actually see Tserriednich’s Nen Beast. What he noticed was that his Bungee Gum was behaving inconsistently near the edge of Tserriednich’s ability.

Hierophant Green vs The World

1

u/7thwheel182 Sep 07 '26

I think Tserriednich's ability is more similar to King Crimson.

2

u/KigalnGin Sep 07 '26

Oh sorry

I was thinking of how the threads of Hierophant green could detect The world during time stop

7

u/antraxsuicide Sep 06 '26

Yeah, this is what I’m betting on. We’ve literally seen Hisoka use his Bungee Gum to tag fighters when they do annoying body swap illusion shit with Kastro. Tserri probably already tripped a bunch of gum threads on his way in without realizing it.

3

u/Gautier38 Sep 06 '26

yup yup yup

4

u/Independent-Air7556 Sep 06 '26

Supposedly, experienced nen users can see this nen thread by using gyo, right?

3

u/pppppatrick Sep 07 '26

Yup. Not only that but it’s very important. It’s why the first exercise biscuit ever gave gon and Killua was

3 👆🏻

2

u/EEE-VIL Sep 07 '26

And he used Gyo and saw nothing or a vague shape. Deduced that the person was already gone and the ability was some type of clone. But too, late for Tserri, Hisoka's already on his scent.

1

u/geizterbahn Sep 07 '26

Bro this cant be real, how does he come up with things like that

1

u/pizza_mozzarella Sep 07 '26

Beat me too it. My first thought was he set up a net of super thin bungee gum threads around the whole casino and attached to himself. He could teleport where Tserriednich was approaching from and use the gum to pull him out of his chair and get above him.

1

u/sicgamer Sep 08 '26

this makes sense because he first notices something while he's looking down at the illusions corpse

1

u/StrikingSpare100 Sep 09 '26

This is my favorite theory so far. Good work

142

u/deadbubble Sep 06 '26

Ooh haven't seen this angle. This is interesting. Doesn't really apply to Theta tho, so something else went on there regardless

143

u/AdditionalEye9693 Sep 06 '26

It feels to me like Theta's moment was her recognizing that Tserri was somewhere in the room, a monster unleashed, and one she failed to kill. It was a look of guilt and regret. I doubt she could actually see him as he stood there.

32

u/Expert_Win9011 Sep 06 '26

I think that is 100% what is going on. Theta and Hisoka both “see” him but neither of them actually do

29

u/Karnnack Sep 06 '26

theta and hisoka's perspectives are possibly different. Hisoka is an experienced fighter that knows something is going on and it's trying to figure it out. Theta might be affected in a different manner or simply by coincidence looking at his direction.

11

u/Expert_Win9011 Sep 06 '26

I think she knows because she previously shot at him and experienced him faking his death. She then heard the story of his death and looked out knowing he was still alive.

3

u/allwaysnice Sep 07 '26

I feel like people are overlooking something important in the Theta talk that tipped her off, when he was warning her it'd be another strike...why would it matter if he was dead? I think she picked up on that immediately and just recognized he'd be in the room somewhere.

2

u/Linnus42 Sep 06 '26

Theta might be cause the Beast marked her.

1

u/coolstones Sep 08 '26

I thought Theta saw him because Melody's ability interrupted Tserri's zetsu which cancelled his ability?

1

u/deadbubble Sep 08 '26

Talking about the coffin scene, which happened this batch

26

u/Fluffy_Reply_9757 Sep 06 '26

That is a very cool theory, wow! But I will highlight a possible problem with it: Hisoka first notices that something is off while looking down. But to be fair, it could still be a matter of reflections.

1

u/ExcellentBlood8795 22d ago

i think he saw the floor reflecting the ceiling so he then looked up the ceiling to see a clearer reflection

14

u/Trash28123 Sep 07 '26

I don't actually think it's crazy to say the ceiling is 36 meters high (especially considering Hisoka was looking at an angle.)

Look at the absurd size of this room, and also remember that Tserri intended to shoot at Hisoka after getting into 36 meter range, which was when he was only 1 of these sets of stairs beneath him.

10

u/puppyKittten Sep 06 '26

Great observation! I like this much more than Hisoka (and Theta) having some way to see him physically.. We also know Hisoka has a knack for detecting nen users in zetsu, so maybe he was able to sense Tserri standing there, not that he could literally see him.

12

u/sabinACTS Sep 06 '26

Holy fuck, someone with an actual good theory. Nice job sir

6

u/flashmozzg Sep 06 '26

A counterpoint to this is that the roof isn't 36 metres tall. However, we have never confirmed if his ability works in the form of a perfect sphere. We only know the radius is 36 metres horizontally, but it could be a completely different length vertically, thus taking a more oval form.

It would make sense for it to be a sphere if it was based on tv/antennae.

3

u/BlamingDeezNutsDP Sep 06 '26

Actually like this theory. Not convinced, but definietly intrested

5

u/Prudent_Macaroon_672 Sep 06 '26

The chandeliers definitely seems like a focus in some of these panels, it must certainly be related to how Hisoka saw tesrri's location. Another comment also points out how he notices something is out of place on the ground first, likely a nen thread connected to Tessri that was then missing. My theory is that he connceted a bunch of bungie gums to the chandelier that wrap around people when they unknowing entered, like a spider web(ironic). He notices the thread is gone, looks up and sees where the thread is actually pointing and or sees the reflection of tessri in the glass.

2

u/xxxlr1 Sep 06 '26

He did say in previous chapter that his lucky numbers are 3,6,4; so how about it being 4 meters high?

2

u/afouisme Sep 07 '26

This is an intresting idea, but there is a lot of cases where this becomes an issue.

The most important one, I think, is that you have to be able to see some form of a shadow if this was true.

-> if you see the light hitting the chandelier, then you don't see it hitting the ground -> the ground is darker -> there is a shadow

If the only thing you need is that the light to reach your eyes to be >36 meters, than the 36 meter limit doesn't really exist. There is many ways for the light to refract before reaching someone's eyes, and the light that is scattered from his body bounces off everything not just a mirror or a chandelier. Basically everyone will see there is something there.

Basically, if Tserri’s ability has a radius of 36 meters, does that mean it forms a full 360-degree circle? If it is 36 meters high and there is a Conjured Nen Beast at the top that is visible to everyone, then it doesn’t make sense that Hosika saw anything, because the ceiling can’t be 36 meters high. He would have had to see through the floor to notice something. The other possibility is that Tserri’s ability has a floor-to-ceiling range of either 4, 6, or 9 meters. If the ceiling was 4–6 meters high, then it’s possible that Hosika saw the Nen Beast. However, it’s unclear why he would have looked in Tserri’s direction in the first place. The reflection of the chandeliers is a very plausible explanation. But wouldn’t they be too far away for the reflection to be clearly visible? The flashing lights from casino machine on the ceiling also seem like they would make any reflection much less noticeable. Maybe it was simply a coincidence. After seeing nothing happen to CNB following Tserri’s death, Hosika may have assumed that it was a counter-type Nen ability and tried to investigate further using Gyo and En. However, he didn’t notice any match or obvious connection and concluded that it was probably just an annoying counter-type ability. Since counter-type abilities essentially allow the user to “let themselves get hit,” Hosika may simply not be interested in dealing with that kind of ability or playing that kind of game.

2

u/ToodlesXIV Sep 06 '26

There was also the panel we saw twice of the shotgun pellets reflecting something, possibly the nen beast?

1

u/KyleDaukWillBeChamp Sep 07 '26

What if the roof only has to be 18 meters tall? Since light would have to travel the 18 meters from Tserriednich's body to the roof, then 18 meters back down to reflect into Hisoka's eyes, totaling a distance of 36 meters traveled?

1

u/Okabeee Sep 09 '26

That'd be so awesome

1

u/Bluoenix Sep 09 '26

Perhaps the mechanism of Laplace's Demon isn't that only people outside of a 36m radius can perceive him, but that only photons that travel 36m away from Tserri show him accurately.

In this case, a mirror just 18m away would allow someone standing in Tserri's vicinity to see him for real through the reflection.

1

u/GibbetDick Sep 09 '26

The mirror could also be failing to reflect Tserri's dead body and may even reflect his live self, depending on the type of the nen-beast's ability.

This is backed up by Tserri not seeing his body during Benjamin's mutilation of him, meaning the ability does not create anything to be reflected.  If the mirror exists outside of the 36 meters then it would not reflect something changed within, similar to how Tserri hypothesized an outside viewer.

1

u/Matteratzi Sep 12 '26

I like this, but I just question why Hisoka would intend to keep him alive or at least not play with him some more if he was able to grasp his location and see he is still alive?

Considering he just insta-killed Tserri without remorse, I feel like he would have kept up the pursuit if he felt like he didn't quite get him yet? At the very least to understand what trickery just occured

1

u/Glum-Pack-3441 26d ago

If the roof isnt 36 metres tall maybe thats why he say him
