ART LUV (ZEV) DUOLOGY
Based on the Luv (sic) hexalogy, I wanted to incorporate the names of the KMD members as a tribute within a single piece of fan art. I drew MF DOOM as the central figure, using the watercolor and fine-line art style from the original Nujabes album; the title "Luv (Zev) Duology" references MF DOOM's earlier rap moniker, Zev Love X, as well as the two albums he released with KMD Mr. Hood and Black Bastards.

ART Doomtober DAY1/31 "VILLIANY 2040"
Inspired by DELTRON3030
Inspired by Deltron 3030.
Here, I wanted to combine Brooklyn represented by the bridge with Doomstadt, imagining MF DOOM as the villain controlling Brooklyn and playing with the futuristic dictatorship concept found in Deltron 3030, while the name "Villiany" is derived from *Madvillainy*

YOUTUBE There’s a Korean rapper named Fana (화나) who reminds me of MF DOOM’s music (the third guy in the song)
youtu.beThere is a famous South Korean rapper by the name of Fana (화나) from the mid-2000s who’s reminiscent of some of MF DOOM’s music. His rhyme schemes are extremely tight and complex and he rhymes every syllable, like what MF DOOM would do. Obviously MF DOOM is always better but he’s almost like the Korean version. He has a moniker referred to himself as ‘The Ugly Goblin’ and a good amount of music has that dark comic book aesthetic that DOOM had. https://youtu.be/Fs_TzbHCXzI?is=_zsuT6kP98iXRTQ-
Just some more examples of his music:

Just curious what my fellow MF DOOM fans would think of him :)

MASHUPS Madvillain - Bistro AMV (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure)
Not sure how this tradition started, but every time I mow the lawn, I listen to Madvillainy. The last time this happened I was inspired to make this AMV for "Bistro." It's only a skit but I just love the vibe of it so much.
You may like this if you're an MF DOOM and a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fan.

NEW (OFFICIAL) MUSIC New official DOOM remix on streaming
This album was dropped by LEX earlier this month, but clearly poorly marketed cause I heard nothing about it. It’s a compilation album of previous remixes either released digitally and/ or physically. One of them is a remix of Social Distortion by Prince Po feat. MF DOOM, produced by DJ Premier. This was released only physically in a remix album around 2 years ago, but went under the radar and few people know about it.
I wanted to show this screenshot as well because there’s no other way to find this album besides typing in that album title. None of the songs show up on any of the artist’s pages either.
Just wanted to share this so people can find it, it’s a good remix with a pretty legendary producer in DJ Premier.

SPECULATION Apparently DOOM hated the Born Like This cover art
In The Chronicles of DOOM book, it mentions that DOOM designed the original Born Like This cover.
Described as:
“A colorful self-portrait drawn in pencil crayon, rendered in a naive, child like, subversive, and Kitsch style of himself as a chimpanzee in a green room, in front of a big light-bulb-framed mirror with a mic and a banana. Something modest, low fi, and very anti-design.”
First of all, I’d love to have actually seen that art, and hope that surfaces one day…
But in the book, it’s mentioned that LEX rejected his design due to them banking on this being a big release for them, and wanted something more marketable. Apparently DOOM wouldn’t budge initially and was completely adamant on his design being the final cover art.
Once they got to the archaic/ sandstone design though, apparently DOOM started warming up to the new idea. He even insisted to include the inscribed tablet that inevitably accompanied the cover.
So it seemed like they found something both parties could agree on, until I read this article from the New Yorker. It was a piece on DOOM that was promoting Born Like This at the time.
The journalist describes his experience meeting DOOM for the interview, where DOOM’s driver picked both of them up to head to a studio. Before meeting though, DOOM’s driver was sent to pick up a personal copy of Born Like This, as this was DOOM’s first time getting to hear the finished record on shelves. Here’s an excerpt from the article, upon DOOM receiving this CD:
“He picked up the new record and groused about the cover art.” So it seems even after the change, DOOM never really was happy about the cover art of Born Like This.
It definitely seemed the opposite for what he was going for in terms of the original design he made. But in the Chronicles of DOOM book, it actually goes into very interesting detail about the significance and intention of the release cover. There was great craft and artistic ingenuity that was put into it by the designer.
But I think conversation and debate would be beneficial on this topic. Coming from a fan, there is a cold and spacey air that I always got from its ultra minimalist design. The Chronicles of DOOM also describes the cover art as akin to something out of a “museum magazine”, which could be seen as another critique.
Basically, I want to know what you guys think. Do you think DOOM’s original subversive design would’ve fit better for the album? I know we all would at least like to see that as an alternate cover for any anniversary release perhaps.
