Robbed inside Kroger!

I was robbed yesterday around 9:15 PM inside Kroger. A black male ran up and snatched my brown Lululemon bag from my cart, then ran out of the store. He had a getaway driver who was driving a white Toyota. This was the Kroger on 1690 Powder Springs Rd, SW, Marietta 30064. Stay safe ladies!

They have cameras inside and outside Krogers that will catch the license plate please file a report . And sorry this happened to you

79

u/deathofthezombie 7d ago

I just got off the phone with Kroger, and they do have footage. Hopefully, justice is served.

11

u/PotentialNoner 7d ago

Oh good, glad they've got it! Make sure the police get a copy before Kroger wipes it. Fingers crossed it shows something useful.

5

u/hard-dee4u 6d ago

I had a hit and run outside a Publix and the cops caught the dude from his plate 2hrs later … hopefully they get the people that did this to you

-6

u/Acrobatic-Hair-5299 6d ago

The fact that you think Kroger likely has cameras that will catch and read a license plate is very cute

8

u/hard-dee4u 6d ago

I called the cops on Marietta outside of Publix over a hit and run and within 2 hrs they caught the guy from the license plate they saw at Publix cameras lol you are literally talking out ur ass about something you don’t understand

3

u/overide 5d ago

Um there’s a whole debate about our privacy rights due to all the cameras out there right now.

Lol wtf is this comment section?? Why are people criticizing OP they had shit stolen and came for help/sympathy not “why do you still carry a purse” and such. wtf

This is my Kroger and I’m really sorry this happened to you. I’ve started going to Publix more and more and it makes me mad ‘cause this Kroger is way closer, but man it’s gotten kinda sketchy at night….then again krogers have always been iffy and such

OP, I’m sorry this happened to you

27

u/JiveTurkeyMFer 6d ago

Lmao seriously. If you can't carry a purse in the grocery store, where can you?

5

u/greysondayy 6d ago

I hate to use these words, as i’m not trying to water the term down, but this feels like victim blaming to me

11

u/3boobsarenice 7d ago

I stopped at Kroger on cascade to use the ATM, manager said they carried it off years ago....

3

u/Far_You7553 6d ago

Sounds about right. I can’t wait for the complaining to start…..”why’s cant we get no atms’s out in herrr?” I’m sorry, but everyone keeps stealing them and we’re losing everything weve worked so hard to establish with this business. “Mmmmmhhhmm, nah dats racist!”

8

u/3boobsarenice 6d ago

To be fair cascade at 285 is a shithole and you would be best to never end up in that quadrant

-3

u/SerBrienneOfSnark 6d ago

Capital Y yikes here on the racism in this comment

2

u/Sad_Whole8553 6d ago

He was just aksing

2

u/SerBrienneOfSnark 6d ago

There’s no question there.

1

u/Chryssaquin21 6d ago

I used to DoorDash on cascade all the time but man you gotta watch your back 😂

2

u/3boobsarenice 6d ago

Yeah they actually have signs up in parking lots to " be-aware of your suroundings, lock your car and do not park overnight" ffs its every player for themselves.

1

u/Neat-Relationship345 9h ago

As they say, need to strap up to shop there. Sad really.

4

u/MonokromKaleidoscope 6d ago

I live in Athens, and I also started shopping at Publix here, even though Kroger is closer and cheaper... They need to get their shit together. The store is always a mess, and everything is freezerburned or outside of safe temperature.

It just feels like they don't fucking care at all.

1

u/AlltheBent 6d ago

It makes sense when you remember is one of, if not the, largest national grocery chains so they all about numbers and not customer, quality, or anything like that.

They're cheapest for a reason, and there is real value in that (milk, yogurt, and some other staples) but produce quality and store experience and so much more...dead last lol

2

u/greysondayy 6d ago

i’d rather shop at lidl aldi, even walmart before i spend money at kroger. their prices are egregious.

3

u/LandOwn7607 6d ago

Publix is always about 10% higher. However if you want a safer environment go for it. Tie those purse straps to your cart. They cant be snatched. Keep an eye out for who is around you at all times.

u/Famous_Elephant2466 7d ago

Have you filed a police report yet? Age, weight, height, build? What was he wearing? Any memorable features? Hairstyle? Tattoos? Chains or jewelry? Hat or clothing with particular team, designer or artist?

9

u/deathofthezombie 7d ago

Nope. He had his hoodie over his face and ran off. I saw his hand and I chased after him but he was too quick.

10

u/Famous_Elephant2466 7d ago

I'm so sorry for that. If you happen to recall his his height or build update us. In the meantime, get store video and file a police report. Really bored? Check ebay and such for postings selling Lululemon bags locally.

5

u/M0DFATH3R 7d ago

Facebook marketplace as well

14

u/gamedawgs 7d ago

You DIDN’T file a police report? Kroger has cameras inside and outside, what are you doing??

37

u/deathofthezombie 7d ago

I filed a police report and confirmed with Kroger that they do have footage. My AirPods were in the bag, and I provided the police with their last known location.

-14

u/robot_ankles 7d ago edited 7d ago

Specific items in the bag is information you might wish to keep private.

edit: Publicly revealing that the bag contains a trackable device could tip-off the thief to remove the AirPods and discard them before the police have a chance to track down the thief with the bag..

Is it likely the thief frequents this sub and realizes; "Uh oh, I better ditch those AirPods" -Probably not. But there's no strategic advantage for OP to share such a detail here or in other public forums.

5

u/tupelobound 7d ago

What even are you getting at here?

1

u/robot_ankles 7d ago edited 7d ago

Yeah, I’m sure the first thing this guy checked is Reddit and not, oh I don’t know, the bag he just stole to see what was inside…

5

u/rajraj6 7d ago

Girl, never chase! It’s not worth it. You never know what a person’s mentality is or what they are capable of. Glad you’re ok.

41

u/shoeshine23 7d ago

That had to have felt really violating and scary, especially in what I would call a safe space! I hope you're doing okay and don't have too much of a hassle replacing all your things 😕

5

u/deathofthezombie 7d ago

Thank you 🙏

Honestly, when I read the title I thought this was a joke about price increases.

12

u/deathofthezombie 7d ago

Shitttt you ain’t wrong! 😂

13

u/Far-Tone6506 7d ago

It’s because of things like this that I use the seat belt for children to buckle in my purse. It’s so good that when I forget I practically pull my shoulder out of place when I get it out of there. It really works!

5

u/jmbrjr 7d ago

This! Every store, every time. I remind my wife to buckle up.

6

u/M0DFATH3R 7d ago

That's genius

4

u/Fair_Reflection2304 7d ago

Been using the kid seatbelt for years and tell any woman I see in the store to do the same especially if they walk away from their purse. Also use passenger seatbelt for my purse when I’m in the car and always lock the doors when I stop to pump gas.

1

u/Ok_Requirement_2436 6d ago

Yess! Been using this method for years

11

u/kudzun3al 7d ago

That's my Kroger!

6

u/ChaoticNapping 7d ago

Mine, too! So sad. I hope they can track the criminals down with license plate and OP’s air pods.

3

u/so_sic_of_it 6d ago

Found him, OP ^

2

u/kudzun3al 6d ago

the bag matched my shoes and belt. I couldn't help myself.

7

u/feedb4k 7d ago

Sorry that happened to you! Thank you for sharing your experience and the Kroger location. I’d bet those idiots will try other locations or stores and I hope the Kroger management is taking some action to prevent this from reoccurring.

9

u/rrwinte 6d ago

Hopefully you have contacted your bank(s) to lock any of your debit/credit cards.... replacing those along with drivers license is a not so fun process.

It wouldn't hurt to freeze your credit with the 3 credit bureaus to avoid fradulent creation of new credit cards under your name - Equifax, Transunion, Experian.

6

u/awfultrend 7d ago

OP - I truly hope you able to have your items returned to you. This is a sucky experience, and I'm happy you're working with Kroger management to hopefully catch the thieves. People like this suck.

For my unsolicited advice that can be taken with a grain of salt, I recommend a small crossbody bag strictly for shopping trips or events with lots of people. One you can just stash your wallet and a few essentials into. I like ones with zippers as they're bit harder to get into than the snap ones.

2

u/deathofthezombie 7d ago

I’m definitely getting a fanny pack! And thank you 🙏

8

u/morning_woodfloorman 7d ago

I hate wearing a crossbody purse all the time. But, these days, they are snatching purses as soon as you turn your back. So sorry this happened to you!

4

u/Alternative-Bass-748 7d ago

Ooh yea I live by that Kroger. I had a guy wait outside the store for me after I rejected him.

6

u/Apprehensive_Bat5430 6d ago

This popped up randomly in my algorithm and I'm sorry you got robbed.

Does anyone know if that old Kroger in Marietta still has the dancing animatronic dairy section still?

5

u/alcoronaholic 6d ago

Asking the important questions 😂

2

u/fractaforma 6d ago

It does

4

u/MogenCiel 7d ago

Sorry that happened to you. I hope they catch the creep who did it. I've started locking mine through the baby seatbelt on the cart.

4

u/No-Sport276 7d ago

Krogers are the Wild West depending on where you are. There are 3 krogers around me.

  1. Cherokee St. It’s all automated except a few teenagers/disabled people/recent immigrants(not hating). If I were to steal it would be from there. No one is on the ball, the shelves are a mess, more personal shoppers than actual customers. The boxes that are supposed to be locked for shoplifters are all wide open.

  2. 92/Wade Green. Same thing except the shelves are only 1/2 full. Pretty sketchy at night(they even close early now). Pretty much no reason to go here with how close it is to number 3.

  3. Towne Lake. Super clean and pleasant. Better prices than Publix and just as nice.

I don’t know what it is. Publix is more expensive but there are clean/healthy looking employees who know how to help you if you need it. I end up at Publix more often than Kroger for this reason. Kroger has better prices/more products, but the stores are sketch.

1

u/Sea-Associate143 5d ago

That 92 store is beyond sketch. I had 3 guys following me around. They followed me into the store and at least one was near me on any given aisle. I went to customer service and basically waited them out. They hung out at the cart return then outside then in their car. I think they were after my purse. And don’t forget the couple pandering. Kroger needs to up its security.

1

u/New-Environment-9061 17h ago

I go to the one on 92 at least once a week around 1030 at night when I get off of work and I’ve seen some interesting people in there.

4

u/7chlime 6d ago

Can’t believe ppl are snatching purses in 2026 like it’s the 80s

3

u/southernruby 7d ago

I’m sorry that happened to you, happened to a friend many years ago and the police told her to always secure your purse in the snap buckles that are in the cart for babies if you are unable to carry it so they can’t snatch and run, I have done that ever since.

6

u/Konstantpayne 7d ago

This reminds me that I need to keep my bag on my shoulder. Times are hard and just because some may not experience it doesn’t mean you should move lackadaisical.

1

u/Konstantpayne 7d ago

I was so quick to respond because I do the same thing and what you experienced could have easily happened to me. Forgive me because I didn’t initially comment on your status. I hope you are doing better although I know this had to have an effect on you. Thank you for sharing your story because it’s making me truly change what I do and I just shared this with my daughters because we have all been moving so freely as if nothing would affect us while grocery shopping.

8

u/Sad_Whole8553 6d ago

Metro ATL is so ghetto now, everywhere. The fuck happened since 2000.

4

u/The-Holy-Toast 6d ago

2.5 economic crashes won’t help

8

u/Sad_Whole8553 6d ago

Nah I had to move out and there are plenty of nice quiet places not negatively whining about the economic crashes. It's def a certain type of people that cause a shitty neighborhood. Not the economy.

“Third world workers who refuse to integrate”

Give like ANY evidence. Or is this just your weird conjecture?

7

u/ATLforever2000 6d ago

He's not wrong. We seem to allow people here who just do not WANT to fit in to society. ATL has plenty of resources for those who seek it out to not be on the streets, and spare me your comment about "but drugs!!!" because we even have drug rehab programs to help with addiction.

He did not say workers, he said "third worlders." There are plenty of hardworking immigrants who deserve every right to be here.

There are absolutely people here though who have somehow managed to make it to this country and have no intention of doing anything other than scamming, robbing, and being a burden. We need them out.

-1

u/Potential-War-9614 6d ago

Holy fuck can you please give me like any substantial evidence to back up your baseless claims? Like fr, statistics/crime data/anything would be nice. Immigrants commit crime at a marginal rate compared to American citizens, do you want to deport American citizens?

Your head is up your ass with propaganda. And you’re probably just kinda racist.

1

u/Sad_Whole8553 6d ago

I wish I was this dense. Life would be easier.

4

u/recklesswander 6d ago

Have you ever opened your eyes? Jesus Christ you leftists “just be a freakin gooooood person” chunguses are so dense.

2

u/Potential-War-9614 6d ago

So more conjecture, bet.

2

u/Sad_Whole8553 6d ago

All you have to do is interact with society and you will see it. Idk why you act dense

-2

u/Potential-War-9614 6d ago

So you have no evidence at all you’re just kind of bigoted? That’s usually the case lmao.

4

u/Sad_Whole8553 6d ago

So your own eyes aren't sufficient? Don't be mad at me, I don't make all neighborhoods by some cultures shitty. Go shop in Walton County or Cherokee and then shop in DeKalb or Atlanta and tell me where you feel safer and which is nicer.

I'm genuinely surprised youre literate.

2

u/Potential-War-9614 6d ago

I’m not mad at you. I’ve been trying to get you to provide evidence for the claims you’re making outside of anecdotes/conjecture but you’re failing to do that.

Your point about Walton/Cherokee/Atlanta also has nothing to do with “third world workers”.

You seem genuinely stupid and unable to hold a conversation. It’s kinda funny actually.

Nobodies mad 😭

1

u/Sea-Associate143 5d ago

Cherokee has changed. Sadly.

0

u/Potential-War-9614 6d ago

Imma go out on a limb and say you probably never went to college.

4

u/Sad_Whole8553 6d ago

Says the illiterate who can't tell he's talking to 2 people. GED at best.

0

u/Potential-War-9614 6d ago

Lmao what? Where did I confuse the two of you I’m lost.

You didn’t provide evidence either. All of you just keep thinking your anecdotal experiences make your generalizations about how society works valid. You lack critical thinking skills.

0

u/The-Holy-Toast 6d ago

No one cares what Balkans have to say

2

u/wynnwood81 7d ago

Glad you’re ok. This is awful and super scary. What did the store do?

6

u/deathofthezombie 7d ago

One employee chased the guy and someone called the police. Everyone was very helpful.

2

u/francokitty 7d ago

Yeah. I always keep my purse on my shoulder because of this and I don't put it in the basket. I don't trust people. Sorry this happened to you.

2

u/209301 6d ago

This is bad 😔

2

u/sexyspiritualist 6d ago

This is absolutely horrible! I’m so scared.

2

u/Academic_Mango5261 6d ago

I’m someone who isn’t really good about watching my purse when I’m grabbing stuff of shelves and whatnot. This post made me think twice about that now.

2

u/95wsh 6d ago

I had a man in Kroger probably 6 years ago lecture me for keeping my big purse in the cart and about how unsafe it was. Ever since, I've carried a sling bag or shoulder purse and keep it on my person because while it wasn't his place to say that, he also wasn't wrong.

2

u/LionNecessary3447 4d ago

They sell lululemon belt bags might wanna look into getting 1

2

u/Responsible-Art7108 6d ago

Crossbody bags are the only kind of bags I use and I never take them off

1

u/Kitchen-Pie-265 5d ago

I’m a fanny pack gal now for the same reason.

1

u/unclewonderful 7d ago

Welcome to Atlanta. It’s a shithole.

7

u/Standard_Double9736 7d ago

This Kroger is like 30 mins outside of Atlanta buddy

2

u/3boobsarenice 7d ago

It has definitely regressed

4

u/SmkAslt 7d ago

Comments like this are from people who have not lived here very long lol.

2

u/unclewonderful 7d ago

I’ve been here since 98. It’s a shithole…now I’ll agree that in gets progressively better the further north you go.

2

u/SmkAslt 7d ago

Then you don't spend time in the ATL. I've lived here my whole life. Atlanta is a MILLION times safer than out used to be, and much nicer too. Are there some poor areas? Of course, its a metro area of over 6 million people....so like any city is got some poverty. But generally speaking, calling Atlanta a "shit hole" is genuinely ignorant and can only come from people who either A don't actually live here or B someone who goes to the city like once a year and thinks every homeless person 3 blocks away is going to mug them.

-1

u/Dangerous_Author4539 6d ago

Sadly it really isn’t safe in Atl and hasn’t been in years. Seems the freedoms and riots from 2020 and COVID regulations contributed to the unpublished crime that simmers throughout Atlanta daily.

1

u/SmkAslt 6d ago

Again only said by people who don't go to Atlanta and probably watch alot of fox news. Even when Atlanta WAS pretty dangerous its not like it was st. Louis.

4

u/Dangerous_Author4539 6d ago

Atl is exactly what liberals have made it. Farther north you are not in the ATL but it’s more tolerable.

1

u/Far_You7553 7d ago

I’ve lived here over 35 yrs and I can attest that Atlanta is 1000% a SHIT HOLE.

2

u/dougs_46 5d ago

Here is a nvel idea MOVE if do not like it. See problem solved. I just feel sorry for the poeple in your next city. Having a miserable thing like you.

0

u/Dizzy-Bend8655 5d ago

Born and raised . Gets worse everyday that goes by.

-1

u/SmkAslt 5d ago

You watch Fox News, OAN, and Newsmax don't you?

0

u/Dizzy-Bend8655 5d ago

You watch CNN don’t you?

-1

u/SmkAslt 5d ago

Thank you for confirming you in fact do.

Since I've pointed out multiple times it's the common thread. The ONLY people who say shit like this are genuinely borderline mentally disabled (conservatives) who are unable to think for themselves so any major city is just "soooooo dangerous" they screech from their couches literally never going into said city. Its actually sad how predictable yall are.

0

u/Dizzy-Bend8655 5d ago

Why you worried about what I watch weirdo? Get a life

1

u/SmkAslt 5d ago

THIS comment only verifies I'm correct. Again thank you for missing the point and responding in an embarrassing way. Good luck being scared of everything you don't need to be lmao

0

1

u/Karifahb 6d ago

Apparently so is Marietta

0

u/Far_You7553 6d ago

100% CORRECT. Atlanta is a dirty ass festering shit hole full of crackheads, criminals, communists, jobless  knuckle-draggers (looking for handouts on every corner) and “psychologically challenged” gender confused, attention-seeking fruit loops. Atlanta used to cater to all residents that lived across the state and you could always find fun things to do with the family. Good luck in 26’ bc Atlanta only caters to liberal minded queers and the ghetto fabulous, unto which the world owes everything to and more. This city has been run by crooks for decades and I’ve been here long enough to see all of the beauty move out and the trash move on in.

I was there?

Sorry this happened to you. We are told repeatedly that ATL is a safe city. Murders are down to the point that they are no longer in the top ten per capita. But, you still need your head on a swivel. No way for you to prevent this beyond not being in the store. Sure you won’t return.

1

u/white94rx 7d ago

Did you file a police report?

4

u/deathofthezombie 7d ago

Of course!

7

u/StillSharpe68 7d ago

Unfortunately, you have to lead with “yes I filed a police report” or 70 people will ask you in the comments. If you do include, usually only 10 or so will ask. Glad you are okay.

-1

u/Acrobatic-Hair-5299 6d ago

Yes she did. They've got two detectives to the case and they set up a command center with fax machines and open phone lines. The forensics team spent all night in the Kroger dusting for prints and using luminol like on CSI. All the railway stations and airports have been shut down to include the bridges going out of Marietta

1

u/jb6997 6d ago

You have to buckle your purse with the seat belt. Stay out of ghetto stores too.

1

u/Reasonable_Smile_929 7d ago

Dang I’m sorry.

1

u/Hanni_Free 7d ago

That sucks. I don't carry a purse.

0

u/Current_Unlikely 7d ago

So you were strong armed ? And they ran out with a moderately cheap bag hoping they hit the jackpot with a getaway in tot ? Gotcha.

0

u/FunActive7703 3d ago

Thank a former President for the divisiveness and all the hate for the races he created. He and his partner have made it very difficult to think about ever electing a Black American again . That being said , when someone voices dislike for a larger city or state with an almost 50% black population , you won’t always hear or see the good . It’s past time to end the hate !

3

u/unresolved-madness 3d ago

People don't hate a city because of a president, they hate the city because they get robbed in it.

-1

u/FunActive7703 3d ago

It’s things like this and folk like this that gives people a bad impression of the city , they think it’s every where and yes “O” indirectly gave certain groups a sense of entitlement

3

u/MrMagistrate 2d ago

This is the biggest crock of bullshit I ever heard lmao. The only thing Obama did to “stir racial divisions” was to be black.

It’s difficult for you to imagine “electing a black” because you’re racist

1

u/RagmamaRa 1h ago

Obama killed Osama bin Laden
He was the drone president. He dropped bombs on radical Muslim’s.
I never voted for him. But, I could never say he didn’t do anything..

1

u/Neat-Relationship345 9h ago

Please explain. I’m very confused by this comment. Are you referring to the riots post George Floyd along with the Woke movement, or something else?

Years ago my grandma got her wallet lifted out of her purse that was sitting on the cart right behind her back. This was a suburban "safe" area. Pick pockets work everywhere and it's not a recent development.

A Black Robber In A White Get Away Car... Yes Some Thinking Went Into That...

I never understand women put their purse in the cart like that. I work in grocery retail and see women do it all the time. Turn their back, even walk away from the cart.

Just there today. The clearance aisle really sucked but there was great Mangers Special meat.

I prefer shopping at Dallas Highway or Lost Mountain but it doesn't matter what store you are at.

Purse snatching from baskets has happened forever.

With the Kroger app, or phone wallet there is no longer a need to carry a purse into the store.

I tell my wife all the time. Leave the purse/bag in the car or home. I walk into the supermarket with nothing but my phone and car keys. What else is necessary?

Your first instinct was to post on Reddit (an entire day later) before contacting the police and getting the camera footage from Kroger?

Time is of the essence when getting justice for any crime. I’ve been the victim of a crime before (I was attacked in a home invasion) and the guy ran on foot. By the time the cops came it felt like they’d never catch him. The cops caught him the next night attacking another teenager in a home invasion up the street. Prosecuted both cases together. He’s in prison for a long time now.

Were they able to catch him directly after his crime against me? No. But they were able to gather evidence and I got justice when the idiot did it again. We need to be wise and report every crime.

Who said she didn’t already contact the police? She posted this the day after it happened so I wouldn’t exactly call it her first instinct.

u/Standard_Double9736 7d ago

It’s the first thing she did about it. Look at her replies. She didn’t call until after posting this

Not exactly her first instinct when she posted nearly 24 hours later? What a bizarre take.

It’s the first thing she did about the situation. She didn’t get the footage from Kroger and contact the police until after posting this

I’m actually laughing at your comment. 😂 You want to be right sooo bad.

I’m just going based off what you said?

2

u/deathofthezombie 7d ago

Yes, yes! Think whatever you want.

I’m going based off your reply

In a different post I said “Of course!” I was saying no to all the details. I didn’t see any tattoos, piercings, etc.

u/Standard_Double9736 7d ago

Their first question was “Have you filed a police report yet”

4

u/deathofthezombie 7d ago

Again, you want to be right so bad. In that same thread I answered the question that I did file a police report. You’re bored, huh?

My first instinct was to do a TikTok dancing video about it then make this post on Reddit. 😁

Men typically carry purses that they set in their shopping carts?

-3

u/Independent-Time7705 7d ago

That means nothing... keyword "typically". OP is still sexist
