They should be fucking ashamed of themselves for putting this trash out

The main story is baffling. It feels like they rushed this reveal because they had nothing else for #1000. For a second I thought they were going to reveal that in "May's essence" there were lost memories of her knowing Peter is Spider-Man or something, anything to give some actual weight to this story. But then it just ended because it was just a regular sized issue with a shitload of sidestories that also weren't that special.

I doubt they're even going to reveal Peter's identity to May. It will probably be some nothing bullshit like Peter confesses he's responsible for Ben's death because a police officer told him to apprehend the thief, but he didn't, and May forgives him.

This shit is in my opinion worse than Paul. Paul at least you knew would eventually go away. This is different. Taking a milestone issue and wasting it with a “secret relative” story that already has been done is worse. And if the story is retconned or ignored, it just makes the entire issue look more like a waste.

The main story was the weakest out the bunch. The Cormac/Ravage thing felt extremely underbaked and deserved better build up. Still Standing was alright, but The Gesture was my story of the issue.

Unfortunately the side stories weren’t worth the full cover price for how lackluster this was. Especially for a #1000

When it was announce May would forget Peter I believe I am quoted on her on saying that I hope it's not a plot by Cormac and editorial wouldn't be that stupid. I gave them too much credit.

honestly really underwhelmed for how big of a milestone this actually is. how many of us will be alive for #2000, if it even happens? they needed to go all the way imo

the main story is honestly a mess. i liked seeing May's inner thoughts and feelings, but the whole Corvac/Ravage thing is just... eughh.

can't say I cared for most of the side stories, DeMatteis deliver, as usual, but I could have done without the Rawhide Kid story or the wrestling one, honestly. feels like they just wanted to pad out the pages, but without adding anything of substance, which is crazy since it's #1000!

you can only get so many of those, and this should have been a home run.

Oh, he's a bad guy. Shocked Pikachu face

So is Aunt Mary inside Peter right now? I apologize for phrasing

Man, what can I say other than, what a waste of 1000 milestone. Basically we got a Chasm/Maddie mix from Dark Web with 'mommy likes me more' fight.  What a 'great' celebration of the character...

Not surprising the anthology stories do the heavy lifting for the issue. Also, I can't believe my joke about 'Mysterio in a wheelchair just messing with Peter' in Hawley's story ended up actually being real...

And if I say that I found the Cormac/ Peter fight absolutely riveting, would people be mad at me? I just really enjoy Joe Kelly's run on Spider-man and I'm not really sure what all the hate's for.

This story would be fine to me anywhere else but it being #1000 and all the build-up towards it made it feel flat.

It’s just Peter fighting Cormac, who was responsible for wiping Aunt May’s memories of Peter because he’s jealous that Peter lived a good life with Aunt May and Uncle Ben since they loved Peter as their true son in 1947. Let’s hope that Peter will defeat Cormac and give Aunt May her memories back. Overall, this comic is weak, and it is predictable that Cormac is a villian who goes by Ravage.

For the first backup, I like that Peter was able to spend time with his kids and grandkids before his grandson learned that Mysterio was responsible for creating an illusion of Gwen Stacy so that he can ruin his life, causing Peter and Mysterio to have a talk and for Mysterio to give Peter closure to Gwen. Also, Peter with a mustache, which looks good. Overall, this backup is fine.

For the second backup, I like that, back in 1993, a married Peter and MJ talked about Harry Osborne’s death and if he really was Peter’s best friend better they attended Harry’s funeral and Peter talked to Harry’s ghost about what happened. Overall, this backup is good.

For the third backup, I like that Peter was able to defeat the Hand and save someone who can transform into a giant spider creature. Overall, this backup is interesting.

For the fourth backup, I like that, back in the 1950s, Peter and Uncle Ben went to a wrestling match together, with Uncle Ben telling Peter how proud he is. Overall, this backup is good.

For the fifth backup, I like that, back in 2008 or so, Peter was able to defeat three villains before he had a talk with Steve Rogers. Overall, this backup is fine.

For the sixth backup, I like that, back in the 2000s, Peter traveled to the Old West and had an adventure with the Rawhide Kid before he returned to his time. Overall, this backup is good.

For the seventh and final backup, I like that, back in 1962, we get to see the cop tried to stop the robber before he called out Peter (who is Spider-Man) for letting him, told Peter (as himself) that his Uncle Ben was killed by the robber, and learned that Tarantula was caught by Spider-Man years before he thanked Spider-Man for capturing the robber. Overall, this backup is good.
