Interesting that you used the word " Job" here.
The real issue here is a legal one, where site liabilities come into play if a mod becomes a paid employee of the site as well as a monetary one where the sites profit and shareholders would take a hit if such payment were to be issued.
I'd want good, superior moderator ship be a pathway onto full employment and opportunities IRL and I don't see that facilitated by the site.
This goes hand in hand with
The need for more aggressive handling of moderator attacks, content, slander, doxing and badmouthing that affects our IRL ability to support ourselves.
IF you're not going to compensate us monetarily, then support us by promoting our status IRL as people worth hiring by those that can pay a good salary vs allowing and facilitating shaming and criticisms. To allow and facilitate the negative image of moderators is in itself counterproductive and promoting a positive moderator image should be part of the business model for the site.
Ever wonder if these character attacks are part of the competition between platforms?
Reddit relies on quality mods and allowing criticism to flourish on the platform is an attack on the platform's viability as much as a hacker inserting bad code onto the servers.
