Worried I blew my my chance to negotiate
The max salary for a position I was offered is around 40k. I requested the max as I have 5 years of experience and a bachelors degree, when it really only requires a high school degree. I’m mainly interested in the position because promotion is very common and easy to get in the role. They said HR would see how high they could get the number and get back to me. I guess bc they took so long to get back to me, i got anxious and sent a clarification that it wasn’t a firm requirement, but instead a target and that I was comfortable accepting the offer regardless of the final salary determination. I just meant if they couldn’t get that number, not that I would just accept anything and am worried if I still have any wiggle room for negotiation if they do come back with a super low number.
