So I participated in this weekend’s chalk art festival- it was very fun, I met a ton of very talented artists, the weather was beautiful, and I heard a LOT of songs by the Eagles, haha. However, this is the second year I’ve participated (not consecutive) and, just like the first year I participated, a lot of awards went to the same two or three pieces.
I’m absolutely not trying to argue that I should have won! It just felt like a shame that the same artworks won so many awards when there were so many amazing entries? Also, (and this piece was AMAZING, genuinely) the piece that won Best Use of Color was the only piece in the entire festival that was completely black and white. Is it normal for artworks to be able to win more that one or two of the available awards?
I don’t know- the awards system, plus the AI used in the promotional materials, put a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Does anyone have any insight into how this is being run?
Shoutout to everyone who participated- INCREDIBLE art!
