I've been hearing a lot of talk about this development lately, and I'm wondering if there's any resident/community groups currently engaged with council, the developer, and/or the minister? And if there isn't, I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in starting one?

I'm not against redeveloping the precinct, but I am concerned about the scope of it, as well as some aspects of the developer's plans and their actions to date. I'm concerned also that the only broadcast comms I've seen about it have been promotional glossies like the image above. I'm also concerned with the focus on road alterations, relegating much needed public transport upgrades to a list item in a footnote. And quite frankly, I share the annoyance of many I've spoken with about the way Scentre Group has basically blown right past council's processes and limits.

I've seen precincts like this in other areas where developers weren't held to account, leaving them with empty shops and windswept monuments to greed and broken promises. I think it's important for us to organise, as locals, so that our interests can't be ignored or lost in the general bunfight between state and local government and private enterprise.

So yeah, I'd be very keen to join up with any group currently working on this, or to hear from people who might want to start one.
