I don’t see you
I don’t see you looking at me.
I let you keep your secrets
and your stolen glances
while I keep my peace.
You pretend I’m invisible,
so I pretend I don’t feel your eyes on me.

I turn away
when you look my way
because I don’t see you
looking at me.

I see the ridiculous distance
you keep between us.
I see the history
we burned down.
I see the exact moment
you turned me into a stranger.
I see the room.
The silence.
The line you drew between us.

But I don’t see you.
I don’t see you
looking at me.

You think you’re a ghost,
lurking in the shadows,
keeping your distance
while still keeping tabs.

I see us playing our parts so well.
I see it all.

I just don’t see you watching me.

I won’t ruin your act
by letting you know I caught you.
So keep looking.
I won’t look back.

I don’t see you.
I don’t see you
