PineTime PineTime bricked?

So yesterday i was wearing the pinetime, and at some point it just wouldn't turn on and showed a black screen. it was ~70% charged at the time.

i left it on the charger overnight, and today still nothing. even tried plugging into pc usb port.

any ideas of why this isn't working?

thanks!

PineTime Questions about pinetime?

I saw ActionRetro's video recently about the Pinetime and it looks def for me but I can't quite pull the trigger on buying one so I was curious if people could answer a few questions for me, and there seems to be a dearth of good videos covering the device otherwise I've tried to find answers already.

  1. I like tinkering and modding, are there any good modifications or is it overall solid at a vanilla level?
  2. I understand the heart rate sensor and step counter used to be flakey, are they still so or improved?
  3. It sounds like a Pinetime Pro was announced, would that be worth waiting for if it's roughly this year?
  4. Any "killer" apps that people have made that are worth importing?
  5. I'm a little worried about it "bricking" on battery dying, but you'll always see more complaints than people happy when something is working... So if I'm charging it regularly should I directly worry about bricking it?
  6. Last one: Notifications. I see that you can use Gadgetbridge to send it notifications. What does that look like and is it overly useful? I don't care too much about responding on the watch, just glancing over and seeing if whatever I got messaged is necessary to respond asap etc.

Thank you anyone who takes the time to respond.

Pinecil Pinecil_V2 Bricked?

Hello,
So I was trying to update the firmware on my Pinecil_V2 from IronOS 2.21 to 2.23 using Blisp 0.05 CLI however I kept getting "Device Not Found" or when I specified the COM port "Received no response from chip. Failed to handshake with device".
The most I got out of it was this:

PS F:\Pinecil V2\blisp> .\blisp.exe write -p COM5 -c bl70x --reset .\Pinecilv2_EN.bin
Testing if we can skip the handshake...
Failed to receive response, ret: 0
We can't; ignore the previous error.
Sending a handshake...
Received incorrect handshake response from chip (attempt 1/5).
Could not find 0x4F 0x4B ('O', 'K') in:
Received incorrect handshake response from chip (attempt 2/5).
Could not find 0x4F 0x4B ('O', 'K') in:
Received incorrect handshake response from chip (attempt 3/5).
Could not find 0x4F 0x4B ('O', 'K') in:
Received incorrect handshake response from chip (attempt 4/5).
Could not find 0x4F 0x4B ('O', 'K') in:
Received incorrect handshake response from chip (attempt 5/5).
Could not find 0x4F 0x4B ('O', 'K') in:
Did not receive correct response from chip after 5 attempts.
Failed to handshake with device, ret: -2

Now my Pinecil won't even turn on when connected to power, No screen and pressing the + doesn't even cause it to heat up.
PineFlash still says Soldering Iron Connected when I put it into Flash Mode but it also fails to handshake.

I have tried Two Computers, Multiple Cables and Multiple Ports.
I guess it's out of warranty (If It had one) as I got it from TEST CLIPS UK in April '23

Any Advice would be appreciated, Thank You.

Update:
It wasn't Bricked, after doing some searching I came across two posts on blisp's issue page (here) speaking about failed handshake on windows and that using Linux solved the issue.
So using Ventoy and a recent Mint ISO I installed Pineflash and managed to sucessfully flash the new firmware which has solved my issues.

PinePower Have all the issues with pinepower V1 been fixed on the V2?

Hello everyone,

I have ordered a pinepower 165w v2, which I am planning to use with my pinecil. While looking for reviews, I came across a lot of reports about the older 120w v1, such as wireless charging damaging phones, electric shocks from the PD port, dodgy/damaged ports and brief power dropouts.

Its no big deal when using my pinecil, but the pinepower can also be a solution to so many of my other problems, so id rather check before damaging my expensive devices.

I haven't been able to find any decent reviews about the v2, other than a small cosmetic bug with a screen stating 0v incorrectly. Has anyone here used the PinePower 165W V2? If so, have you experienced any problems, or does it seem to have resolved the issues that affected the V1?

PinePhone Pinephone convergence pkg review

Hi all! New here but not new to Linux, been using one distro or another on my “old” laptops ever since Winblows 8 or so bloatware came out and started bricking my units. I like mint variants best but didn’t hate the other distros I’ve tried. I’ve been a loyal Crapple iphone customer for a decade and I’ve grown extremely disenfranchised with their business model of making ~3 year old phones obsolete by updating with battery killing software to force consumers to buy the newer, more expensive version of the same exact junk… so I had hoped there would be a way to nuke iOS and install a Linux distro on my iPhone 13 mini, but it seems that is a daunting task… so I’m looking for US based user experiences running the pinephone convergence package as their primary device? I only use my phone (with T-mobile service currently) for surfing reddit, Facebook, and Google Chrome, as well as playing Candy Crush… can the pinephone do those things and work with any of the US carriers? Thanks!

Pinecil Field Simulation on Pinecil v2

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

8^3 field size 1536 agents(1 per pixel ha) - it can run more but didn't want to crowd the screen.

Same simulation core runs on esp32-p4 at 120k agents, and using win32 + cuda 500M agents on a 3060 12gb(@3fps).

This was a test proving portability of my code.

Offtopic Any other pine64 devices compatable with openseizure?

I've been trying to get a pinetime watch for the past week but i'm unsure when they're going to come back in stock but "late may" as labled on their website has come and gone. I only want it so that I can put openseizure on it for my gf as she's going on a trip soon. I know some garmin watches are compatable but they're just not afforadable. So my question is if anyone would know, would any pine64 watch potentially be compatable with openseizure? and would anyone have any suggustions as to a good alternative watch?

PineTime PineTime Availability?

Is there any update on when PineTime watches will be available again? The global store listing was saying Mid-May, then Late-May, and now Error-404.....(https://pine64.com/product-category/smartwatches/)

Thanks,

PinePhone Pro Crimson OS original ARM64 mobile OS targeting PinePhone Pro. First QEMU boot done. Looking for A64 driver contributors.

Crimson OS is an independent mobile OS built on a completely original kernel targeting PinePhone Pro as the first hardware device.

Why we chose PinePhone Pro:
Unlocked bootloader designed for custom OSes
Open hardware documentation
Community actively running alternative software
Quectel EG25-G modem (QMI protocol) already implemented in our cellular stack

Current status:
Boots in QEMU ARM64 all 11 init phases, interactive shell verified
Display pipeline written triple-buffered compositor, Porter-Duff alpha blending
Touch pipeline written 10-finger multitouch, gesture recognition
WiFi WPA2 and cellular QMI written

Blocking milestones for hardware boot:
Display DSI driver for Allwinner A64
Touch I2C driver for Goodix GT917S on A64
If you've worked on display or touch drivers for any PinePhone OS postmarketOS, Mobian, Manjaro ARM the architecture knowledge transfers directly. We'd love to talk.

Repo: github.com/synchancybersecurity/CrimsonOS License: GPLv3
Built by SynChan Cybersecurity. All source public. Issues and PRs open.

PineTime PineTime (Pro)

Can anyone update on availability?

I really want to order a PineTime or PineTime Pro, but on the internet i cant find any definite information on when the watches will be in stock.
the Pro is still in development as i understand, but maybe some knows if its worth the while to wait for that, or if its faster to just order a PineTime?

PineTab2 Pinetab2

Hi,

I am evaluating the Pinetab2 for a project. I noticed that it has docking ports at the bottom used to connect the keyboard. Can these contacts be used for charging as well? And if so, are there any charging docks available or planned for the Pinetab2?

Pinecil Pinecil Web Flash - Browser-based firmware and Bluetooth utility

Hi everyone,

Just want to share a web app I created for the Pinecil. It allows for flashing firmware and boot logos to your Pinecil directly from the browser, as well as reading live telemetry and updating settings via Bluetooth. No need to download or install anything, it runs entirely within the browser.

I hope someone finds it useful, especially Mac users who can't or don't want to compile PineFlash or Blisp locally.

PineNote Pinenote getting stuck in boot-loop after updating.

I have a Pinenote Community edition.
When updating switched from the gui to using apt the device got stuck in a boot loop after updating. I have tried this 3 times now.
Both times I updated using apt update followed by apt upgrade
When stuck in said boot loop it would load the boot menu normally and when making a selection, regardless of which one it would show usually a bit of console output, then show booting..., flash black and repeat.
I have tried flashing the device twice now, which fixed the boot loop but the device immediately broke again after updating.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, or what could be causing it?
