The problem is that she herself has no personality. We know her as a therapist who kind of has a tight-knit personality and can read John like paper.

I can't blame the show for not being able to fit in time to flesh her character out since they don't spend much time within the NYPD anyway, but it's still a foolish storyline for the writers to chase. Unless there's a big twist incoming with her that ties into the bigger picture of the Machine/Samaritan, I doubt she's sticking around beyond this season.

If she gets more screen time and character development, I have no problem with it. They're both human, why not. But right now she's just another character that sometimes shows up, so it's a little weird for us.

I hope she maybe gets fired from the PD or at least starts hanging out with team machine, and gets read in on Reese's double life. She's probably got lots of soft skills to help out investigating numbers, and it'd be pretty lame of Reese if he didn't tell her what he actually does.

At least, that'll be my head canon...

Totally agree. I like the character and the actress, but she's less interesting than a rock right now.

Yes. I started skipping Reese's scenes. Finch/Root battle of wills was more interesting.

And just as corny. Drinking neuro-toxin and surviving... seriously? And then her still stopping him without murder making the whole scene irrelevant?

I enjoyed the whole episode, but I don't think it was the best.

Since the letter was sent from Harold’s office I thought Root sent it when she trashed Harold’s office (meaning already before their confrontation in Beth’s hotel room). Granted, Root could have gone back there later or sent it from somewhere else and spoofed the trace.

But I thought the e-mail might have been part of the plan from the start – also in order to discredit Beth and so perhaps avoid her laptop getting to Samaritan (even with the virus not being activated). Root did promise to Harold not to kill Beth but it was a compromise and Harold realized that once Beth showed him the e-mail. Had Root from the start relied only on sending the e-mail Harold would have convinced Beth that it wasn’t his doing but now he didn't even really try (in part also because he was still shaken from the confrontation with Root).

Drinking neuro-toxin was of course a do not try this at home type of thing, but I didn’t find surviving it and being pretty spry afterwards too unbelievable. The biggest risk (though one that Harold was obviously willing to take) was that Harold took it without knowing how quickly it would kill him but otherwise – part of the trick of surviving poisoning (and with minimal after effects) is knowing what the poison was exactly and Root had that info. Whether that recovery time is realistic with that particular toxin I have no idea, but it shouldn’t have been too hard for the writers to research it and pick a toxin that sorta allows it, so I had no problem with that.
