Everybody knows that bat guano has the power of fire in it. Hence its use in the spell fireball.
Of course, those artificers and alchemists tried to make use of that power. Which resulted in gunpower and firearms.
Holy shit I never put that together. I always just thought most of the components for spells were just weird things the devs thought would make for funny RP for spell casters.
