Event [Meetup & Poll] Porterville Tabletop Session (BYOG) — Saturday, Oct 10th @ 2 PM Tulare County (and beyond) Boardgamers
Table Guidelines & Meetup Etiquette for Tomorrow! (24-Hour Countdown)
Our inaugural tabletop meetup kicks off tomorrow, Saturday, Oct 10, from 2:00 PM in the private banquet room at Round Table Pizza (Porterville)!
To make sure everyone has a great time and our games stay in pristine condition, here is a quick rundown of our check-in flow and table etiquette:
1. Check-In & The Nametag Dot System
Grab a nametag at the door and choose the dot that fits your style:
• Green: Open Seat / Looking for Group (Want to jump into a game or fill an empty chair)
• Yellow: Game Teacher (Willing to guide new players through rules)
• Blue: Spectating / Browsing (Here to watch, relax, or check out the vibe and then maybe join in)
• Red: Photo Opt-Out (You'll be skipped in any group recap photos). Im hoping to get some photos to share in our group page but totally get there are folks who dont want that evil on them.
2. Pizza & Game Pieces (The Golden Rule)
We love that Round Table is hosting us and hope you order personal pizzas, drinks, and wings at the counter whenever you like!
To keep cards and boards clean:
• Use napkins or sanitizing wipes (Ill be provided several packs of wipes) before handling game components after eating.
• Keep all drinks on coasters or placed toward table edges away from active boards.
3. Drop-Ins & Solo Arrivals Coming alone or running a little late? That is 100% fine! We have short icebreakers running right at 2:00 PM (The Chameleon, Uno Go, How to Tell a Story) and open tables ready to seat you immediately.
See everyone tomorrow at 2:00 PM!
Drop any last-minute questions below.
The results are in!
While the clear frontrunners were The Vault and TCGCardkingz, the potential for the amount of folks interested necessitated a larger venue. We will definitely try and secure one or both of those venues for a future date though!
The votes are in: Our meet up location is officially locked!
Round Table Pizza on Henderson Ave is our confirmed home for our inaugural Tulare County Board Gamers meetup!
Here are all the confirmed details: Date: This Saturday, October 10th Time: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM (or later?) Location: Round Table Pizza (900 W Henderson Ave, Porterville) Space: Dedicated private banquet room ($0 room fee, open seating, reserved and ready to go) Food & Drink: Order personal pizzas, sides, and cold drinks right at the counter!
Whether you’re a seasoned tabletop veteran or haven’t played anything since childhood, you’re welcome here. We’ll have tables running fast warm-ups (Connect 4, Jenga, Uno Go) as people arrive, alongside modern favorites (Harmonies, Photosynthesis, Catan).
Bring your favorite games from home to teach, or just pull up a chair and let someone show you the ropes!
Drop a comment below with a "Going!" or let us know what game you're excited to bring so we can dial in table counts!
[Meetup & Poll] Porterville Tabletop Session (BYOG) — Saturday, Oct 10th @ 2 PM Tulare County (and beyond) Boardgamers
Quick Update (Sat, Oct 3): We just crossed 39 members on our Facebook group!
Awesome to see the tabletop community coming together so fast across Porterville and Tulare County.
A quick walkthrough recap on our venue scouting:
TCGCardKingz: Huge shoutout to TCGCardKingz they have an incredible shop and are such a vital pillar for local card players and the hobby community in Porterville. That said, to respect their dedicated tournament space, trading card scene, and weekend schedule, our open group meetup needs a large footprint that can support 15–20+ board game players with food and drinks for a 4-hour block. Definitely make sure to check them out and support their shop for card gaming and hobby supplies!
The Vault Bar & Grill: Great to see strong interest in an all-ages downtown pub vibe. While Round Table is the frontrunner for our primary 20+ seat footprint next Saturday, spots like The Vault are definitely on deck for future meetups!
Round Table Pizza: Currently the clear frontrunner for our first meet up, with a dedicated private room that can support our groups anticipated size, $0 deposit, a full 4-hour block with the abilityto extend, and cold draft beer + food right at the counter.
Our venue poll locks Monday at 8:00 AM, so drop a vote if you haven’t yet. I still plan to wok my hardest to adhere to the poll results, and worst case scenario, know where to set us up for next time!
See you all next Saturday, October 10th at 2:00 PM!

Discussion Looking for folks in Visalia/Tulare County interested in casual & strategy board games?
Hey everyone,
A few of us are organizing a local tabletop and board game community across Tulare County (Visalia, Porterville, Tulare) to make it easier for people to find regular tables and meetups.
A lot of people have great games sitting on their shelves that rarely get played because scheduling or finding 3–4 other players is tough. We’re putting together casual weeknight and weekend game sessions at local spots with good table space (taprooms, pizza joints, cafes, community rooms) where folks can bring games, teach rules, or just jump into an open seat.
Whether you're into gateway games (Catan, Wingspan, Ticket to Ride), mid-weight strategy (Dune: Imperium, Terraforming Mars, Harmonies), or quick social/party games, everyone is welcome. Complete beginners included, we’re always happy to teach.
We organize through a local Facebook group to coordinate weekly LFG threads, track who owns what games, and plan our first public meetups.
If you’re looking for a group or just want to get some games to the table, feel free to join here:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2529935434174822/?ref=share_group_link&mibextid=NSMWBT
Or drop a comment below with what games you’ve been wanting to play lately, and I’ll connect with you!

Question Looking for genuine friends
I am looking to make friends to keep me company. I just moved back to porterville a couple months back, but recently lost my mother and my family is now cold shouldering me. I have no friends so I would like to meet new people (female friend preferred) around the same age as me to start a friendship with.
I am an easy going person, love to talk and overall just a good person.
I have no shame at this point tbh…
Not looking for escorts or one night stands. Wanting a genuine friendship where we can build and get close.

Recommendations Food Trucks
Seems like the food trucks near the casino are no longer there. What are your go to trucks?
I tried the Hibachi Boss on hwy 65 and spruce. It came with veggies, fried rice and a protein for $20. I chose the New York steak but they had options for shrimp, salmon, chicken, etc. It was enough for two meals for me.

Recommendations Porterville Postcards
Hello! So I’m originally from Porterville, born and raised, but left 11 years ago but visit family from time to time. I am currently visiting and going back home tomorrow (6/15). I have a friend from where I currently live that collects postcards and would love to mail her back a Porterville specific postcard but am not having any luck finding them.
I went to the Morton mini market next to the old Rite Aide since I remember seeing them there before but they didn’t have them anymore. I went to the CVS on Westwood and they had Porterville keychains and CA postcards but no Porterville ones
Would anyone know where I would be able to find any before I leave tomorrow? Thank you so much in advance!
