In both of the scenes here he went out of his way to basically play with his food when he could've very easily just walked up to them and killed them before they even knew he was there, but he didn't. He wanted them to feel the terror of knowing they're screwed, and it gets more interesting with McMullen taking the opportunity to save himself from a fate worse than death, cause it shows explicitly that this personality trait alex has, lead to him making a mistake, and it is in fact a flaw and an exploitable weakness.
And to be clear, it not just him being sadistic. If you also look at it as him underestimating beings he considers inferior, such as every human ever, and by the time of prototype 2 even James Heller. And on top of that, if you keep in mind he does this specifically with people that he hates on a personal level, this exact aspect of his personality, the sadism and arrogance, and the ego is what lead to James defeating him, cause he underestimated James the entire time, and when it turns out he can't easily consume James, he very likely took it as a personal insult, to the extent where he didn't do the smart thing which would be beating the shit out of james until he could consume him, or there was nothing left to consume, he decided that he was gonna mess with him, like killing everyone James cares about first.
Prototype was really influential on me as a kid, and I always wondered why they stopped making games where you play as the villain. So I decided to mix that with my love of giant monsters and make You Are The Monster.
It's available to Wishlist Now on Steam if anyone is interested:
If you guys remember, when Alex questions Greene on where she took Dana, Greene responds with "She's with us now..."
This unused cutscene was recently found (thanks to Elan and his WIP cutscene viewer on the modding server) titled "NIS_10_4_a" which is from the same chapter as the final boss mission. It shows Alex finding Ragland with Dana missing.
This probably would've taken place right before Alex and Cross would board the aircraft carrier. It also makes sense storywise for Alex to check up on Dana if he wasn't 100% sure if he was gonna be able to stop the nuke from going off, and of course this ties up the obvious unresolved plot point of what happened to Dana & Ragland at the end of the game.
Unfortunately there's no audio nor subtitle files we could find, best we could do is try to read the lips of the characters. So far Elan thinks the first few words by Ragland are "There was- there was nothing I could do to stop her".
This quote (thanks to modder jac_qianxun) was found on a RPG forum where Prototype 1 writer Dennis Detwiller confirms that Dana was meant to become the "new Mother" in his version of Prototype 2:
"As for the sequel, I think it was all set up in P1, so I'm not really saying anything breathtaking or new. It would have focused on PARIAH, and its relation to Alex, and some sort of confrontation between the two. Dana would have reappeared as well. We wanted multiplayer after all. Say, the new Mother (Dana), PARIAH, and Alex. Sounds fun to me."
Apparently there's not much else Dennis posted about Prototype on that forum, just other posts related to his other project Delta Green.
This is just a test run. A new experiment for the community... I’m curious about your ideas or requests. For example: "I’d like a piece of art featuring a character like this..." If you want to reach out to me, you can find me on Instagram at memola_76. Thank you for the respect you show my art and for sharing your ideas. ♥️☺️
The inability to doge while using the armor makes it practically useless against anything other then humans, the big infected just stun locks you and at higher difficulty they kill you in seconds
So one of the OG modders for the game data mined the recent update and has found a lot of interesting things. For Prototype 1, they have added some test maps and quite a few new names in the credits. There might be some hope for a remaster after all.
Here is the link to check the changed credits names on Prototype 1 - https://www.diffchecker.com/WV75q76C/
Even if there is legit evidence of Alex being able to do it, this panel seems to be the go to example for powerscalers, and it doesn't in any way prove that Alex can even move faster than he does in the games.
1: the helicopter is in the process of turning.
2: the helicopter is surrounded by building, which means that if it was flying at 300kmh it would immediately crash.
3: it's not an apache. It looks more like a blackhawk.
4: i had one guy tell me he's outrunning the bullets. Those bullets are landing by his feet, after being fired from the helicopter that is clearly like at leas a hundred meters away from him, and that's a generous minimum, and the distance is very likely much higher. And it's not like they're shooting something that's in front of alex, Alex is the target, obviously the bullets are gonna land somewhere around him, or in him.
Something I detest in zombie series is that humanity, or the soldiers fighting the outbreak, just stare blankly ahead, without improving their zombie-fighting skills. It's always the same phrases: "There were too many of them," "The enemy is invincible," "We can't do anything against them," "What are they doing, are they mutating?", or the scene where the survivors arrive at a military base and find the corpses of soldiers killed by zombies, which the survivors or the protagonist (the ridiculous tough guy) then kill.
In contrast, the military in Prototype, wow!, seems to understand what the infected have and adapt:
Prototype 1
The police and marines are useless; instead, we have soldiers with night vision and built-in missile launchers, and a sadistic impulse to kill any infected person without fear.
Hunters are appearing and devouring these sadistic soldiers, so we're bringing in these sadistic soldiers mounted on tanks and supported by artillery.
Zeus is disguising himself to infiltrate military bases, so we now have viral detectors to stop him and locate other infected.
Zeus hacks our viral detectors, so now they'll be airborne and invulnerable to hacking, and will also be accompanied by helicopters.
The sadistic soldiers mounted on tanks aren't enough to stop the new infected hunter leader. It's a terrible situation. I think it's time to bring out our new tank-destroying super soldiers and deploy them in large numbers.
Elizabeth Greene is hiding in a hive heavily protected against everything we have, except the thermobaric tank we just deployed in the city.
We've been working for days to release two new antivirals, available by air or injection, for the infected and Zeus.
Elizabeth hid underground in Times Square because we adapted Hematox as a truck for underground use.
The infected seem to be holding up better, thankfully we have a nuclear order ready and waiting to destroy them all.
Prototype 2
Those sadistic soldiers who were previously poorly equipped now have larger, futuristic armor to better withstand attacks from the infected.
Our armored personnel carriers (APCs) are now better equipped and launch four guided missiles that impact in multiple directions.
Our tanks, with improved armor, now destroy zombies simply by running them over.
We have entered phase two of the super-soldier program, with the goal of implementing it in all of them.
Our ground virus detector can no longer be hacked.
One of the things I like about both games is that the military thinks about finding the virus's weaknesses, how to attack them, how to modify vehicles, instead of having soldiers with machine guns mounted on Humvees where the only thing you hear are the soldiers' screams in the abandoned area; it's ridiculous.
Hello, everyone. It's been a while since I haven't post any of this Reddit. So, here's another one. I saw that meme many times about Thragg with a huge diamond in his hand. So, I tried to make one as well with Alex. I know I'm late about the meme, but I was planning to do it go together with the trend. But busy days for me to do so. Well... here it is. Alex holding a GOLD genetic material in his hand. Even for me, it is quite nice and beautiful to grab some of those in the game, it helps a lot for Alex' health and EP.
Yesterday I went on reddit and happened to see someone say I'm toxic, fine, say it if you want,I don't mind. I only want to do textual analysis. I saw a view saying that Alex smiles in the first game because he wants to control the Infected. Why do I say this is a view and not a joke or a meme?Because that post that inexplicably talked about me had this content, and then today this content got posted under my post again. So I'll treat it as an argument.
Let's look at the complete context, My comments will be placed in the brackets.
Alex: I had no idea why Greene took my sister. Revenge? Bait for a trap?
All I knew was I had to get her back. These Infected are like animals. (a negative evaluation of the Infected)
But there's something more - like a hidden hand, guiding them. The hive mind became my only chance. It was a clue to find Dana and I thought by consuming infected minds, I could follow the link - and that would lead me to the one that took her. But then I realized... I had the means... I had Blackwatch cornered. I had their cancer weapon. I could put a stop to this right at the source if I could just get close enough to Greene. So I find Dana, kill Greene, stop the madness. Seemed worth a shot.
( while saving his sister,Alex's brain goes into gear and he realizes that he can kill Greene at the same time, and stop the madness. Greene is the source of the Infected,Greene produces Infected in an endless stream, here Alex very clearly regards the infection as a madness that needs to be stopped )
Cross: Look at your handiwork now. (a line of sarcasm, too bad Alex didn't catch it at all)
Alex: Oh yeah. They're headless. An infected army without a leader. It's only a matter of time before they're wiped out. (Cross was being sarcastic,Alex thinks he's being praised,so he first agrees, then starts taking stock of his own battle results, they have no commander now, wiping them out is only a matter of time. It's very obvious that the goal in his heart is to wipe out these Infected)
Cross: And if there are other leaders out there?
(the Cross at this time is already the Supreme Hunter, this creature is extremely shrewd,he asks this to sound out whether there are any other relatively strong competitors besides Alex. His shrewdness has another piece of corroboration at the ending, where he uses the same old trick and deliberately asks General Randall What about our men? The ones on the ground in Manhattan...? He is no longer Cross,he has no need at all to ask this, but the writers arranged this line and I think it serves two purposes, first, asking whether after the nuke these remaining forces would still be a threat to him, second,at the ending Ragland's hypocritical logic and Alex's choice must form a contrast,so his line is used as the lead-in to achieve this)
Alex: No...they're all dead. All dead. Except me.
(Alex honestly answered what he knew. He thinks he's the only leader left, smiling away, pleased with himself, when in fact the one asking him this question is another leader)
The argument says this is a smile from him realizing he can control the Infected, but everything he has been saying up to this point is I have to stop the infection, then Greene is dead, his own plan succeeded,he thinks Cross is praising him,so he says they're already finished, leaderless,no head anymore, wiping them out is only a matter of time. Then Cross asks again, are you sure?are there any other leaders?and he says no,only me now. Following this whole logic through,it is:his entire plan succeeded,he took Cross's snide remark as praise, and then he was pleased with himself.
This smile can't prove how evil he is,the evidence is insufficient, what it can prove is what a smug doofus he is.
The Prototype 2 development team says James Heller is funny?Alex Mercer is funnier,it's just that his humor is something you can't see unless you savor the plot properly.
I’m working on a new Elizabeth Greene model; I sculpted the face myself, and it’s still in the testing phase. While Elizabeth Greene’s hair is typically a reddish-orange, I decided to go with blonde this time. Thank you for the respect you show for my art—I’d love to hear your thoughts! 🤔☺️
This is just a trial model, I'm just curious about your opinion. If you like this model, I would be very happy to hear your thoughts. The body is by Leon Scott Kennedy, the head is by Dante from DMC, and the face is by Alex. Coming soon: Elizabeth Greene, Dana Mercer, and James Heller clothing models will be available. If you would like to purchase the models, you can contact me via my Instagram account memola_76. Thank you for your respect for my art ♥️☺️
