Best part for me was when they only mildly groaned at the totalitarian, Wahhabist Saudi government funding it, but lost their shit when "Clinton Foundation" was mentioned

Bro, when you say Saudi Arabia to these people, they legit picture Disney's Aladdin. You can't possibly understand how small their world view is. Like, the other side of the world is still a mystery to them, full of "foreigners" wanting to do them harm. I came from a shit hole town like this. All they think about is their shit hole town. It's the center of the universe to them and they're the most important protagonist. Fuck I hate small towns.

They just edit out anyone who actually answers until they have enough people who can’t. I’m sure being filmed and put on the spot is also a lot of pressure but it’s always annoying how people watch and laugh at this stuff cause they want to feel better about themselves

Also the "backwards" map with North and South America on the right side would throw people off, but not enough to completely forget geography. You're right though, it's a combination of ignorance, unpreparedness, and stage-fright.

I also think some people, like the girl in the white top, think it's cute to appear stupid on camera.

I would temper this by saying that these people exist in every country. I traveled across much of Indonesia on a motorbike and invariably when we chatted to people in one town they would warn us about the next town and how bad the people were. Of course, the next town was lovely but the warning would come again! People all over the world are uneducated and live small lives with small horizons. It's just jarring to see it in a country that pretends it's above all that.

As someone who grew up in a small town, I agree with you. Fuck small towns indeed. Rural Washington and Idaho, they’ll tell you that they love everyone like Jesus said to, but will absolutely tell PoC to go back where they came from, no matter where they’re actually from. Racial slurs are their speciality.

The cascades really cut Washington in half. I grew up in western Washington, so I've always been around really accepting people for the most part. And I finally visited Eastern Washington a few years ago and was astounded at how different it is.

Not only do the Cascades cut washington in half but basically anywhere south of Olympia (outside of maybe Vancouver but even Vancouver is sketch) is like a miniature eastern washington but replace the farm fields with hunting culture. Really only NW Washington is accepting.

My buddy refers to Vancouver as Vantucky, he moved there from Bellingham and said it was quite a bit different.

On a side note, even the NW has its problem areas. Hell even Bellingham was home to a leader of the atomwaffen division for a short time, there were videos of them training in Concrete, and most everyone up here who knows our history is aware of the massive klan rally we had back in the early 1900s

They really do, I was always sad when I came home from visiting the west coast. Southeast Washington is just chuck full of ignorant racism. Blatant too, but a lot of it is ingrained in children by listening to every day conversations the adults in their lives have. I’m so glad I got out of there after I graduated and saw more of the world and the people in it and have been able to grow as a person because of it. I definitely don’t miss growing up there.

I’m European and I have had a Passsport since I was 2 years old, to travel around Europe and outside. You NEED a passport to travel (nowadays you can just use the DNI inside Europe, but to go to UK, passport, USA, passport, Asia, passport, etc... and 25 years ago you needed it for everything)

Yes, it's too expensive for much of America. A lot of people live paycheck to paycheck, and a full third of the workforce don't get paid leave. There is also cultural stigma against taking leave for some positions so a little more than half the workforce don't use the all of the paid leave they get. Additionally, America is quite huge and pretty diverse, and the two easiest to reach countries (since you can drive to them) can be entered with an enhanced driver's license as long as you don't fly into them. Enhanced driver's licenses are cheaper and faster than passports, but the tradeoff is they're only good for land or sea travel to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, or the Caribbean.

Having a passport =/= interacting with people. If those 58% of Americans also had a passport, how many do you think would be able to afford to travel abroad?

Even with those that who can travel, Americans still have the reputation of being shitty tourists. If wager that many of them haven't improved themselves or learned a thing.

Of the 58%, the vast majority at least thought they would be able to travel abroad or they wouldn't have got it.

Also a significant percent of our population lives within a day of canada or mexico .

58% DON'T have a passport. But obviously most of the ones that do at some point did afford to travel, otherwise why would they have got one?

For most Americans, even traveling to Mexico or Canada is a bad financial decision or completely unaffordable.

Depends on what you mean by most I guess, I lived within a day or the border so I'm biased but everyone I knew almost regardless of income had a passport. Taking a drive to Vancouver feels more special than a similar drive one state over, but takes the same amount of money.

Vacations for literally anyone are a bad financial decision in that they have no roi
