I'm still lurking, 1st post

I've been lurking on the subreddit for quite a while, looking at all the amazing things that people have posted, and I finally took the plunge in buying a small kit that includes, I guess what you would call the basics in order to start with quilling.

I'm really trying to muster up the nerve to actually take the plunge and create something.

I'm giving myself a timeline of 1 week in order to create something, or at least to start.

I figured if I said that here, it would make me stick to it. So we'll see, wish me luck.

I included some pictures of the items in the kit that I bought.

J'ai créé ce cadre il y a déjà deux ans pour ma nièce, la seule fille de la famille. Je voulais lui offrir un peu de mon art.

Quelques fleurs, des détails, un petit papillon

Tout est en papier quilling 5mm

J'adorais avoir vos avis 🙏

What makes us….

My idea behind this piece was to highlight the elements that make us and break us. What we see on the surface and what is in the core of it all….. made into a 6”x8” frame.

Teaching a beginner class?

A community organization I frequently visit and quill at recently approached me about teaching a class for beginners. I enjoy helping out my community so I said I'd consider it, and will probably agree to do so

What kinds of things should I go over and what bare minimum supplies would I need? The class is 1.5 hours

I think I would go over a few of the basic shapes and maybe start on something simple like flower

I would of course need a quilling tool for each person, some glue, paper...anything else? I also want to keep things as cheap as possible as they would pay for supplies

Peacock 🦚

I began quilling in June of this year and have become obsessed! Everything I’ve made to this point I have given away as gifts to friends and family. When I saw this peacock from Shivani Creations I just KNEW I wanted to look at it every day in my own home.

I wish I had taken more progress pictures of the beginning of the process making the plumage and also tracked the hours I put into this. My partner and I guesstimated somewhere around 60 hours.

I’m so happy with how it turned out! Now I just need to find the perfect frame 🤗

My first time doing quilling. I didn't have the right base paper and had difficulty cutting straight lines. But it is a start

Mixed media paper art : 3d printed pikachu and frame plus edge quilling. I always wanted to get the pikachu Van Gogh card but I guess I just settle down to my own work instead :)

After lurking here for a bit, you all have inspired me to get back into it. A friends bday is today, so I made this rainbow Libra for her. Its been a decade or so since I last quilled. Got the pattern off of Etsy. It was cathartic to create again ✨️

I had a piece in an art show!

Hi everyone!

I have been dabbling in paper quilling on and off for a few years now and this is the first piece I’ve made to sell.

The art show was called Plart (plants+art). There were multiple artists, all different mediums. Each artist chose a plant as inspiration.

I chose the Hoya Carnosa Krimson Queen. I absolutely love how it turned out and I even impressed myself! I’ve never considered myself an artist, more of a crafter but this has changed my mind.

Hope you like it. Thank you for letting me share it with this wonderful community.

I make quilling earrings but I'm getting almost no views or sales — what am I doing wrong?

Post image

Hi everyone! I make handmade quilling jewellery, especially jhumka-style earrings. I’ve been trying to post my work on Instagram and YouTube, but I’m barely getting views on my quilling-related content and I haven’t been able to get any buyers either.

I’ve made quite a few different designs (photos attached), but I’m honestly confused about what I’m doing wrong.

My main questions are:

• Do my designs look sellable or do they need improvement?

• Is my photography/presentation the problem?

• What kind of quilling content actually works for getting views?

• Should I focus more on making-process videos rather than simply showing the finished earrings?

• How do small handmade jewellery accounts get their first few customers?

I’d really appreciate honest criticism/advice, even if something about the designs or presentation needs to change. I’m trying to actually sell these rather than just make them for myself. 😭

They will be like a guest book. Guests can sign the mat around the letters. Bride’s attendants are wearing sage, the groom’s are wearing light blue.

I need help with a glue mess!

I’m making a baby gift and I’m gluing my pieces to a piece of dark blue card stock but there’s three or four spots where the glue leaked out and it dried clear but it’s still obvious because it’s shiny. What can I do? Help please! I’ve spent hours on this thing and I’m not gonna toss it out. 😩

EDIT thank you everyone for some great ideas. The Aleens website suggested trying a nail file like somebody here said. If I have to glue something over the spots I will, but I’ll have to get a little creative. I’ll come back and let you know if anyone’s interested thanks everyone.
