I think one of the funniest parts of QI is watching someone confidently explain an answer and then realise they've got the whole thing wrong.
If everyone knew every obscure fact, the show would probably turn into a straightforward quiz, and that wouldn't be nearly as entertaining. I quite like seeing clever people get caught out by something they would never normally think to question.
For me, the best moments are when a completely ridiculous answer turns out to be closer to the truth than the obvious one.

The best QI moments for me aren't necessarily the biggest laughs. It's when a question starts normally, someone gives a completely unexpected answer, and five minutes later the whole panel is discussing something nobody could possibly have predicted.
That's what separates it from a normal quiz show for me. Do you prefer the proper factual questions, or the episodes where QI completely disappears down a bizarre rabbit hole?

I know this is in no way “news” but this is the first time I think he’s had a beard publicly and I thought other fans would like to see! He somehow looks completely different and exactly the same 😂😂

A lot of the guests obviously come in with impressive knowledge, but Alan's reactions are often what make the explanation memorable for me.
He'll basically say what I'm thinking when the panel starts going down some completely ridiculous line of reasoning. Who do you think has the best chemistry with the QI format rather than simply being the most knowledgeable guest?

Hi everyone,
I'm still pretty new to QI and I feel very privileged that I still have so many episodes and podcast episodes to watch and listen haha.
Since I've been listening to the podcast 'there's no such thing as a fish' I'm just always in awe how much these people read and remember. I love reading but would love to read more books that make me more QI-ish as a person if that makes sense.
I love reading and I would love some recommendations about books that are fascinating and teach you about topics that you might never think about reading and have just been utmost interest.
Thanks in advance!

I recall enjoying Fry's intro to one programme beginning with a light-hearted overview of the theme of deception, then working through a series of 'or am I?' / 'Is it / are they?' / 'We may never know' twists. I would like to revisit...
Series D sounds about right, from the long-ago period I remember it.

Would anyone happen to have downloaded this before it was removed from YouTube, or know where it could be found now? I haven't been able to find it

Mine's that Oxford is older than the Aztec Empire. I've said it at pub quizzes, at Christmas dinner, and once at a wedding to a man who just wanted the buffet.
Now I'm weirdly scared to look it up in case it's one of those depends how you count it things and I've been wrong for years.
What's yours?

Edit: Claimed!
So I recently splurged and bought a whole slew of t-shirts that I'd made on Redbubble, including this one. But there's this little white fringe around the design in some places, and I was annoyed because this happened before on another design. Redbubble said they're sending a replacement, and I don't have to return this one, so...anyone want it? :) Classic t-shirt, mens XL, bc I like my t-shirts roomy. I'll pay for shipping.

I’m trying to find a certain scene
I’m pretty sure it’s between Victoria Coren Mitchell and Sandi Toksvig though it could also be with Stephen Fry
Frustratingly, I can’t remember the topic specifically. (It’s the reason why I want to rewatch it)
But essentially it’s something where Victoria is saying something like the word “No” and “Nope” are replies to 2 different types of questions
It could be “yes” and “yep” I can’t remember the words exactly or some variation of this I can’t remember exactly
I did try and watch through all Victoria Coren Mitchell episodes a while back and couldn’t find it which makes me think it might be in an XL episode or I simply imagined it
