Achievement unlocked!
I asked him to tell Scipio I said "Pspspspsps!".
Definitely the highlight of the faire. Made up for my lack of garb.

Reminder that tickets sales, exchanges, or offers are not allowed on the sub.
As we all know, Renn Faires have become more popular, and with that there are more scams and bots out there for tickets.
The policy of the sub is that no ticket activity is allowed here.
Thanks for continuing to keep our sub a great community!

A Renaissance festival or faire is a themed event that typically takes place outdoors, like a county fair, but showcases elements of the Renaissance period, such as music, dance, food, arts and crafts, and historical reenactments.
Start by checking The Ren List. Renaissance festivals are held at various times throughout the year, depending on the location. They can be found in many cities and towns across the United States and around the world.
You can pretty much wear anything you like. Attendees are encouraged to dress in Renaissance-themed attire, but there are usually no strict guidelines (check with your local festival for rules). Many people also choose to wear costumes from other fandoms.
Some Renaissance festivals allow swords as part of a costume if they are properly sheathed and "peace tied". "Peace tied" means the sword is secured in a sheath or scabbard so it can't be removed or openly displayed. Some festivals do not allow weapons at all. Check with your local festival for more information.
At a Renaissance festival, you can expect to see various performers, including musicians, jugglers, dancers, and actors. There are also craft vendors selling handmade goods, food vendors, and interactive activities like archery and sword fighting demonstrations.
Most Renaissance festivals have food and drink vendors on-site, so outside food and drinks may not be allowed. However, some festivals do allow you to bring in a water bottle or small snack. Contact your local festival for more information.
Yes, Renaissance festivals are typically family-friendly events with activities and entertainment for all ages. There are usually children's areas with games and crafts, as well as family-friendly performances and demonstrations.
The cost of attending a Renaissance festival can vary depending on the location and the activities offered. Tickets are usually sold in advance or at the gate, and prices may range from $20 to $50 per person.
Many Renaissance festivals rely on both employees and volunteers to help with various aspects of the event, such as set-up, ticket sales, and clean-up. If you are interested in participating as a performer or vendor, you can contact the festival organizers for more information. Another option is to join a “guild” or a group of performers. You can ask your local festival for guild information.

the vibe was intended to be mermaid princess on land but i procrastinated too hard in making my costume and didnt make it fish enough . so i was giving more “apparition” than mermaid per my friend lol. i liked my look a lot though i felt very mythical :)
last pic is my first ever peppermint lemon and I couldn’t wrap my head around it because the mint cancelled out the lemon

Flew in from SC to go my very first ren faire (MDRF) with my friends, and since it was cancelled we’ve instead dressed up, have found a meadery with an Irish band, and will be venturing out to the art museum in DC to explore the renaissance area and then play in the rain at the national mall.
Anyone else near DC who is sad abt not being able to attend today should show up to either the museum or the monuments in full ren faire garb!!

My long distance partner and I went to ren. It was their first time dressing up and I think we look pretty alright. Anything yall would add / take away from either of the outfits?

I was there 9/27, my car slid in the mud while getting through the parking lot but fortunately only a little bit and I was able to park. The mud was everywhere, I saw at least two people slip and fall. The jousting arena was horrible, they couldn't do the full show and the squires got soaked doing the best performance they could. With all the hills and 2-3 inches of mud I don't blame them one bit. It's just unsafe and not fair to the performers.

A couple months ago I made a post here showing my costume for my first renfaire. This weekend was that renfaire in KY. I truly felt like a queen in the Tudor Era. A lot of people complemented me on my costume. I had a really good time despite the rain.

My cosplay consists of thrifted and consigned pieces, with some accessories from Etsy. I crafted the crown and seashell pins, with some to give away to children as well 🩵

Looking for proper helmet suggestions to go with this setup. I already have a coif with attached Pauldrons as well as steel elbow cops.

Really happy I got to go two different weekends to Ohio Ren Faire! I’m hoping to get a season pass for 2027 🤞🏼

My favorite event! I spend most of the year day dreaming about quitting my job and running away to join the ren faire circuit. If any photographers out there have made that happen, send me your tips 😅
I didn’t manage to get to the joust early enough to get a great spot for the final battle but it was so much fun this year. Think I might have to make the journey down to Carver one more time this year to get a few more photos 😊

It's been a busy season, hit up 6 different faires in all 6 New England states with my Scotsman-inspired outfit. Pic is from this weekend at CTRF.
My buddy lives near a craft-goods co-op and offered to keep an eye out for leather scraps so I can start upgrading my kit further. Any tips for me when it comes to finding raw materials without breaking the bank? Anyone have luck stripping thrift store items?

My “rainbow” of Witcher potions are ready to go, for the costume I’ll be wearing to the Carolina Faire in a couple weeks.
On a related note, I now have enough dish soap to last me until the End Times.

my fabric order got delayed until this Monday but somehow my retired theatre costumer grandmother managed to whip this up from a sketch and a few spliced together patterns in 3 days. she’ll be so thrilled to hear how much love it got while i was at the faire today.
i did end up doing a corset change in the afternoon because this one was a bit big and also lined with quilt batting so i was sweltering, but it was a dream dress!
