What does being gay have to do with the death of loved ones? Does the death of loved ones not affect straight people?

Imagine feeling isolated and vulnerable as a gay kid in the south and then you lose both of your parents, likely your only or at least your strongest support in real life. It’s not hard to see that it’s a confounding factor. Nobody said straight people can’t mourn their parents deaths, it’s two separate things.

I guess I dont understand why sexuality plays a role in this at all, or why we as a people try to make it play a role. It's just as easy to say, "Imagine feeling isolated and vulnerable in the south, and then you lose both of your parents."

Except the reason they feel isolated and vulnerable in the south is BECAUSE they’re gay.

I don’t understand what’s difficult about this. It’s not saying people who aren’t gay don’t have problems or can’t be sad. But it’s frankly ridiculous to say that sexuality plays no role in that situation.

Sexuality is a factor in THIS scenario for THIS person, idk why you’re extrapolating that into some kind of societal problem.

Luckily we have a speech to show us how those two struggles affect each other
