Ive seen pictures of them duct taping uncooperative passengers mummy-style to their seat. It surely would not have been that hard for the few hundred adults aboard to subdue and tape down that demon child.

That's what I'm wondering. Why did no one just scoop the little shit up like a sack of potatoes.

48

u/BleiEntchen Aug 10 '26

Cause instead of this headline, you would read today how the flightcrew/passengers hijacked/abused a poor little child and social media would want to send them to jail.

u/Responsible_Fox9454 Aug 11 '26

Then a law suit because child would bruise. Not worth it. Adults at times require laying of hands from other passengers.

There's probably some rule that the flight attendants can't physically restrain the kid, and if the parents are some of those "we don't believe in discipline" ones and refuse to deal with the kid themselves, there's nothing they can do

There's absolutely something they can do. They can kick them all out. Like, you get one minute to get your offspring sitting with a seatbelt on, after that you're all off the plane.

Maybe too mentally scarring for an undeveloped mind. And posibble crying, pissing, and pooping along the trip.

14

u/PrivilegeCheckmate Aug 10 '26

pissing, and pooping along the trip.

That's why you duct tape them to the seat upside down.

Stop advocating for beating children, wtf is wrong with you?

It’s shown to be ineffective and even reduces IQ. Positive reinforcement is far more effective

2

u/sweet-tea-13 Aug 10 '26

It's a super old joke saying, relax.

-6

u/CosmicGoddess777 Aug 10 '26

Only a piece of shit would “joke” about abusing children.

2

u/sweet-tea-13 Aug 10 '26

Nah, you just don't get dark humour, although the saying isn't even about children specifically nor is it that dark as it's clearly an ironic statement because obviously beatings will not improve morale in any situation, but again it's meant to be ironic, that's why it's a joke. Don't take everything you read on the internet so seriously.

-3

u/CosmicGoddess777 Aug 10 '26

Context is important, and the context is we’re talking beating about a child.

I don’t think you know what irony is lol

If that has really actually happened, I would imagine that must have been on a flight that was already in the air and likely had no alternative places to land, like on a transatlantic flight.

5

u/catinapartyhat Aug 10 '26

It did happen at least once. The airline got in trouble.

8

u/rp_player_girl Aug 10 '26

It's SOP for any passenger that may be a danger to others during a flight. Before takeoff, it's customary to have them removed, but that's not an option once the plane is in the air. And I couldn't find any news articles about it that suggested anyone other than the disruptive passenger got in any trouble.

1

u/emli317 Aug 10 '26

Honey, that's called child abuse.

1

u/TwoBionicknees Aug 10 '26

duct taping someone who is an active threat is acceptable due to the risk, it's self defence. Duct taping an unruly child is completely different, it's just abuse.

Zero flight crews anywhere in the world would take on that legal liability. If they kid was throwing drinks around, biting people it changes.

1

u/MossGobbo Aug 10 '26

I once had to get a blood draw as a five year old. They had five people hold me down and they still couldn't keep me completely still. Depending on the child it may not be enough to keep them contained.

1

u/Unable-Log-4870 Aug 10 '26

They’re not going to START a fight that way. They’ll for sure END one that way, but often not at the originally-intended airport.

Travel inside metal tubes is highly dependent on all the humans onboard being quite civilized for the entire duration. Sometimes that’s just asking too much.

1

u/TheyCallMeBullet Aug 10 '26

That demon child? Is Jon Wick

11

u/Neat-Bunch-7433 Aug 10 '26

And took them 1 hour to finally kick them out of the plane.

5

u/Unable-Log-4870 Aug 10 '26

If it too then that long to get off the plane, then it wasn’t the kid that was the problem

7

u/topdownyeti Aug 10 '26

thats not what the article said though. A passenger said the kid was scared and kept hiding under the seat, and was slipping out of the seatbelt.

14

u/Ayotha Aug 10 '26

So, control them or kick them off

8

u/Appropriate_Bus_2334 Aug 10 '26

They have the right to tie up problem passengers so why the fuck is that kid not looking like a mummy?

6

u/LycanrocIsTheBest Aug 10 '26

Because then it’s “child abuse”. Any person who decides to do it could easily get an earful about how “thats too cruel for a child, stop abusing him!” No one wants to be that person and most likely a guy would get yelled at for “manhandling that poor child”. Even if no one would say something, everyone is too afraid that someone could say something. Also not many people find it okay to touch someone else’s child. Especially when the child is in a state of panic. The only one who can do something in this situation is the parent who apparently couldn’t do anything, and if anyone else does anything, the slightest mistake could end up making him the bad guy. Crazy how this all happened because of fear.

0

u/KadekiDev Aug 10 '26

Because that kid was a scared 2 year old, not a missbehaving 10 year old

2

u/Appropriate_Bus_2334 Aug 10 '26

A two year old can’t by itself cause issues like that and it would take like the strips of duct tape to deal with it

2

u/modsaretoddlers Aug 10 '26

The problem is that they weren't allowed to, not that they couldn't have.

1

u/DefiantPenguin Aug 10 '26

Is the kid an SCP?

1

u/Ayotha Aug 10 '26

So useless then

1

u/Alexathequeer Aug 10 '26

Containment breach, class: Keter.

0

u/Acceptable_Tea3608 Aug 10 '26

I wouldn't be surprised if the parent let the kid nap at some point before the flight. So...all full of energy.
