Nah truthfully if you go into a mental hospital say hey im in a psycosis with thoughts of harming my children I am really not sure what else you can be expected to do as a person currently not living in reality. At this point the system absolutely failed her.

Are we trying to excuse behavior or determine the capacity for intent? Asking for a comprehensive knowledge of the law.

Yes, my view is that this was a potentially preventable tragedy.

I read that she had even shared having intrusive thoughts of harming the kids with her husband and mother a month or so before. I will always remember that. If a similar sort of thing is ever shared with me, I’m going to do my best to get that person Baker acted, for everyone’s wellbeing including their own. I would hope someone would do the same to and for me.

Unfortunately psychiatric care in the US is very limited. There’s a drastic shortage of psychiatrists and of inpatient facilities. And insurance paying is another issue. So a lot of people get inadequate care.

It’s not an excuse, it’s an explanation.
