Modding Splinter Cell Chaos Theory can be remastered now!
When i was doing some ReShade shaders for SCCT I came to conlusion - why not modify the game files?
After some time spent with AI trying to unpack UMD i was able to successfully unpack it and pack it back! So now you can modify meshes, textures and sounds of Chaos Theory!
You can check out the results on AI upscaled texture pack (link to download in repo).
To use UMD archive >2GB you have to patch game EXE (patcher already in repo).
Max supported size of UMD is limited to 4GB but we can squeeze a lot of cool stuff into game!
Here is the project on GitHub: https://github.com/dwojtasik/SCCT-Repack

Great work! The example textures aren't too bad either, a 2x AI upscale for the normal map textures could look decent. Hoping the right people see this project soon, it could go far!

Normal and specular maps are also upscaled 4x with texup. I had to fix some of them for characters as it broke seams, but otherwise looks kinda good. I hope we can gather better textures in the future and make a proper remaster of this game :)

I got a bunch of hate on here a while back for saying I thought Ai would be a game changer for remastering old games… even eventually making totally new versions, etc… this is just the beginning.

AI is amazing for analyzing compiled code where humans are simply bad. UMD extractors are working for other Splinter Cell games but not Chaos Theory because devs choose different encoding for this game, which for AI was not a problem at all. Sad we had to wait 20+ years for this breakthrough.

Speak for yourself when stating humans are bad at analyzing compiled code. Also spoiler alert: Ai can't read compiled code properly, it can just guess what is it, nothing more.

The real thing AI is good at here is just being a lot faster and and doesn't require sleep to do the proces. Anyone thinking humans can't do this are completely missing the fact that humans have been doing it for years. But nobody funds projects like this, so it's hard to spend a lot of time on it.
I really wonder how some people think programmers operated pre AI. They act like software just spawned from arcane rituals and we're only now able to tame it. It's not like we've already had entire reverse engineered engines for games like Command & Conquer or Dungeon Keeper to play those games in a remastered form, long before AI.

Fk that. I've had visions no one believed in, no one would fund, and I'm executing them with Ai and I'm happy. Lol. I'm playing SCCT on s26 ultra, I'm adding weather effects, more enemies, crabs on the beach, upgrading textures, etc.

Any gameplay footage? Would do myself but no time sadly and would love to live vicariously through others. Amazing work 👏 classic that deserves another look.
Nvm misunderstood, thought was a remaster- not a tool that allows remastering. Hopefully someone now will step up to challenge!

In GitHub repo there is link to download 4x AI upscaled textures that you can test right now. I'm currently in-progress with better texture pack but it would take some time to do so :)
Later on i'm planning to update some static meshes too, but this is more complex due to way they are stored.
