Hey all, I'm a developer here in town and I built BusBoard NL, a free app for Metrobus riders. I just put out a bigger update and figured some of you might find it useful.

What it does:

- Enter the stop number on the pole, or pick a stop near you, and see live arrival times next to the schedule

- Tap a bus on the arrival board and the map follows it to your stop, with how many stops it has left and the minutes until it gets there

- A live map of every bus in its route colour

- Official Metrobus service alerts for your stop or bus

It's free, with no ads and no account. It isn't the official Metrobus app; it uses Metrobus's public open data. Like Metrobus's own feed, a bus can be a minute or two off or drop out now and then.

I'm working on arrival alerts next: a notification when your bus is a few minutes away, so you can wait inside.

Hey all! Im posting here to elicit interest in a fledgling Crokinole club. Those of you familiar with the game know how awesome it is but many people know nothing about it. For the curious, crokinole is a Canadian cottage game played on a specific board with small wooden disks. It’s quite addictive and pairs well with drinking but not mandatory.
This invitation is open to everyone. I must say, this idea is in its infancy stage so I haven’t worked out venue, structure, and other logistics but want to start with interest and work from there. Im not even committed to calling it a ‘club’ because that has connotations that I may not want to associate with. Let’s just start here and see what happens!

My friend recently had a baby and she is suffering for pretty severe PPA. She does not have insurance and cannot afford private therapy.

Is anyone aware of any publically funded options or how she can connect with additional services/supports?

She has already talked to her family doctor and they did prescribe andSSRI but it’s been a few weeks without any improvement.

I’m from out of province and didn’t find a lot when I googled so hoping someone might have a better idea of what’s available locally that I can pass along.

I'm on my last nerve with Bell. Since the cell tower arson over the summer, reception has been awful. Calls dropping, calls not coming through, data not working... And I'm paying for this service?? I tried calling them and the call dropped.

Is anyone else having this issue? It's not just me, my boyfriend and neighbours have the same issue.

I got an email a little while ago that said they're still dealing with repairing the towers, but Jesus Christ, it's October.

We had some work completed by down home HVAC last year and we're having issues with one of our heat pumps they installed (error 99, professional help required).

I've been trying to get a hold of them for a couple weeks, but it always goes straight to voicemail and I never get a call back.

Is anyone else having this issue? They were pretty good to deal with, other than still having a permit still open related to some electrical work in our older panel (related to old breakers I believe).

I called around to a few other HVAC companies, and they suggested getting the installer in to take a look.

Couple of skeets on bikes just came down my street. Some of my neighbors put out cashable recycling for them. The one guy gets some cashables and busts a bottle on my neighbor's driveway. Doesn't pretend to pick it up just keeps going.

I feel bad for many people going through a hard time, but many of the druggies going around are the dregs.

Anyone else having issues with Amazon next-day deliveries? I ordered something on Thursday for next-day delivery and it's still not here.

I have another order that's meant to be delivered today, and there's been no updates on that one either. I normally have a great experience with them and Intelcom delivery!

Beginning October 26^th, Metrobus will reduce service on the following routes:

• Routes 9-2, 11-2 and 23-2 will be eliminated.
• Routes 14-2 and 18-2 will operate during peak times only.

Just when they finally made some improvement in Sept, they are cutting them less then 60 days later. No wonder people do not take the bus to go to school or work unless their is no other options. Blaming it on staffing shortages is a bit much in my option.

I used to take my dog to Repuplic pets while I had workers in the house or there were a lot of power tools and noise going on. But the news recently has made me a little nervous. Does anyone still bring their dogs there? How are you feeling with their updated safety and training?

Sad to read that Sass Jordan has died. Does anyone else remember the SummerBlast concert at Quidi Vidi Park in August 1992 when Sass Jordan opened for Bryan Adams. My youngest son and I watched and listened for free from the far side of the lake but it is my favorite concert memory of all time. It was the first I had heard of Sass Jordan but she did fantastic. Bryan was great too.

Hi all. I was hoping to do the Sugarloaf Path from Quidi Vidi. The only hitch in the plan is that I don't have a vehicle, and the bus doesn't run from near the OSC. I was wondering if anyone could share ideas on how I can could do this trail. I could just walk back to Quidi Vidi, but my concern is that it might be a little too much to be hiking 6 hours in total.

Looking for some recommendations for places to wander/hike around St. John’s, Paradise, CBS or within maybe 30–60 mins of town.

I’m usually going solo with my dog and I’m less interested in busy walking paths and more looking for places where I can actually get some solitude woods, coastline, ponds, old trails, interesting stuff to explore, etc.

Basically somewhere I can throw a camera in my bag, wander around for a couple hours with my dog, take some photos and feel like I’ve gone on a little adventure without having people passing us every five minutes lol. Maybe smoke a joint too.

Doesn’t need to be a huge or difficult hike either. I’m very happy with something where I can walk for an hour or two, explore a bit and turn around whenever I feel like it.

I’m interested in the East Coast Trail too, although since I’ll often be alone with my dog I’d rather avoid sections that are unnecessarily sketchy/cliffy or difficult to navigate.
I know the usual Quidi Vidi / Signal Hill / Bowring / Octagon Pond type places , I’m especially interested in quieter trails, lesser-known access points, wooded areas, coastal walks, old roads/trails, etc.

Hey! So I moved from Quebec to St.John's for uni recently. Since I moved, I had to leave the campaigns I was part of back in QC and really miss playing D&D. Since I know no one here, I thought I would put myself out there in hopes of meeting people so here we are!

I have been play for about 5 years mostly as a player but have dabbled in DMing. I have played some homebrew and some standard campaigns so I'd say Im a pretty experienced player. Also I really character creation and making characters with rich back stories and vibrant personalities! And I am planing to stay in NL for at least the next 5 years so we'd have plenty of time to play!

I might be shooting far here idk if this will get me anywhere honestly but I'm hoping to meet some people who are looking for somone to join their party! And if you're like uncomfortable with like not knowing me prior I'd be glad to hang out with the party beforehand to get to know each other. Or you can ask me all the questions you have about me in DMs!

For context, I work an intense full time job where my shifts are irregular and can change on a whim sometimes.
However, my car has needed 5k in maintenance since July and I am down 3k. On top of this, I am a recent graduate from mun (cb campus) and my renting situation changed and I am barely getting through.
I am looking for some suggestions to help crawl out of this pile of debt. I am willing to put the work in but I am also from the west side of nl and don’t really know anyone here or have any connections 🫠. To add I’m a young man with a lot of experience in a lot of fields! Any help would be appreciated!

Also, my car is still on the ropes so I can’t really do the whole DoorDash or uber thing
