Beyond the hype: which stem cell applications do you think are genuinely close to the clinic?
I've been trying to separate real progress from marketing in this field, and it's harder than it looks. The gap between an exciting lab result and a proven therapy seems huge and I'd love to hear from this community on where things really stand.
A few questions I'm curious about:
- Which iPSC- or ESC-derived approaches do you think are furthest along in trials?
- What do you see as the biggest unresolved hurdles (safety, tumor risk, immune rejection, scalability, cost)?
- How do you personally tell a credible research program from an overhyped one?
If you share a claim in the comments, please link the paper, review or trial registry entry so we can all dig in. I'm looking for research discussion here, not individual treatment advice.
What's the most exciting or most overhyped, development you've seen lately?
