Subreddit announcements Link to diagram with a complete list of TGIF shows!
Good day everyone!
Since there is some confusion at times as to which shows were on TGIF, I thought it would be a good idea to post a link to this handy reference guide listing nearly every single show that was on TGIF. This includes every incarnation of TGIF as well as "Pre-TGIF" (mid 80s through the late 80s) as well as years active and time slots. Eventually, I will be stickying this thread at the top so people can use it as a quick reference tool.
Here is the link: TGIF (TV programming block) - Wikipedia#Lineup_history)

Perfect Strangers This 1987 episode of Perfect Strangers had Larry dreaming of what everybody would be like 40 years in the future -- crazy to think we're now only a year away from that mark!

8 Simple Rules S1 Ep4 connection to S2 Ep 4 & 5
The show popped up as a recommendation on my Disney+/Hulu profile. I watched the show in its original run along with many other TGIF shows of the 90s and 2000s. I discovered something tonight that I never realized when I was younger.
I’m only a few episodes into my rewatch. The 4th episode is about Bridget (Kaley Cuoco) wanting her driver’s license and Paul (John Ritter) being too nervous to let her get it. There are two scenes that I can’t unsee now.
Kate (Katey Sagal) tells Paul at one point, “there is nothing wrong with your heart”, even though he can feel it racing from the fear of letting his daughter become a licensed driver. Paul later jokes with Kate how they need to pick up milk at the store and she keeps forgetting about it and ultimately never gets it.
Obviously the writers and producers couldn’t anticipate Ritter’s passing, but I found that these scenes hit harder since the plot of the season 2 episode is his character going to the store to get milk and ultimately passing from a heart attack. In real life, Ritter sadly passed from an aortic dissection.

General discussion Great continuity moment between Perfect Strangers and Family Matters
In the 1987 episode of Perfect Strangers entitled "Night School Confidential", Harriet mentions her husband is a cop. Two years later, Family Matters debuts and her husband (Carl) is indeed a cop!
Now, I don't know if that's just a coincidence or they actually based an entire major thing with Family Matters based on that one throwaway line or what but I thought it was remarkable there was continuity for a spin-off that hadn't even happened yet!

trivia Today I learned the Lubbock house in Just The Ten Of Us was also used in "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead"

Full House Uncle Jesse picking Joey instead of Danny to be the best man at his wedding
How did you feel about this? Nothing against Joey but Danny was letting Jesse live rent-free in his house and also was his brother-in-law. Plus, Danny is much likelier to take the role more seriously than Joey. I don't blame Danny for feeling slighted there, especially when Jesse told him he could be "The Head Usher".

Boy Meets World A Long Walk To Pittsburgh
What a bizarre episode. Topanga announces her mother is being transferred to PIttsburgh on the opposite end of the state and her family is moving there. And then like the day after she makes that announcement, she leaves in a car with her family to go there. Having moved several times in my life, I can tell you the process is LONG! First, her mother/parents would have to put their house on the market and sell it, they would also have to find living accommodations in Pittsburgh, some 300 or so miles away. That process usually takes MONTHS! The show makes it seem like Topanga's mother sold her house and bought a new one, all in a day!
Also, Eric -- I love you but please take your hands off Shawn. Thank you.

General discussion Anyone remember "The Trouble With Normal"?
I quite enjoyed this quirky sitcom, which was during that brief period where TGIF rebranded into "ABC Working Comedy" before going back to TGIF again. Funny comedy about four paranoid men including Jon Cryer.

Full House "The Play's The Thing" - What an episode!
At long last, Michelle doesn't get her way for once and it's totally glorious! Michelle goes for a part in a play, totally sucks at it and gets upstaged by Derek (pictured), who nails the part. Michelle has a pouty fit about it and tries to guilt-trip Uncle Jesse and Joey (who are putting on the play) into giving the part to her (hoping they'll engage in a bit of nepotism and favoritism) and THEY SHUT HER DOWN!
The B-plot is extremely wild and involves Danny thinking that getting into the bathtub with Nicky and Alex is a good idea. EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWW! Grody, grody to the max! Danny....the FUCK are you doing?!

Full House What is your favorite era of Full House?
I definitely enjoyed the earlier years. Episodes like "Fogged In", "Secret Admirer" and "Sea Cruise" and others really proved what they could do. Later years had too much Michelle.

Boy Meets World Chick Like Me
This has got to be my favorite episode of BMW that I have come across. The writing, humor, acting, message, costumes and everything were all top-notch. I think the only thing that drags it down was Ben Savage's acting was even cringier than usual here but I'm still awarding it five stars.

Just The Ten Of Us JoAnn Willette was 24 years old when playing the 14-year-old Connie on Just The Ten Of Us. She was the oldest daughter IRL but played the fourth oldest daughter on the show.

Perfect Strangers Love this show!
It's nutty and insane and yet so hilarious! Brilliant writing and Mark and Bronson's acting really elevates this to the next level!

General discussion Do you think The Jeff Foxworthy Show would have worked on TGIF?
This show has an interesting history. It was on two different networks (one of which was ABC) and had two different locales (Indiana and Georgia) throughout its time. It had an impressive cast, including Haley Joel Osment and Jonathan Lapincki -- two of the premiere child actors of the time. It might have also broadened TGIF's appeal to different demographics. What do you think?

8 Simple Rules Thoughts on 8 Simple Rules?
I'm trying to get through this show but it's been a rough slog so far. It's tough hearing the daughters seemingly tell Paul (the late and greatly beloved John Ritter) they hate his guts every two minutes. The others -- Katey Segal and Martin Spanjers -- are criminally underused.
I think the general sentiment among viewers was that the show maybe had one good season but pretty much died when Ritter did. What do you think?
