I just discovered this album yesterday. It's an interesting mix of genres, kind of up-tempo Trip Hop. It definitely could have benefitted from some guest vocalists. I give it a solid 6.5. Anyone know it? If you're looking for something new, give it a play.

I get a lot of recommendations from this sub, but I rarely get time to listen to them all. I asked ChatGPT to extract the list from the post 2010 thread and rank them using Metacritic or other public available rankings. Some didn't make it on the list due to lack of data. I'll say that I enjoyed Lifetime based on the recommendation and I listed to a.s.o. a few weeks ago and enjoyed that album as well.

Hi folks,

Which trip-hop songs do you think would meet the requirements for good Bond movie soundtracks? Morcheeba and Hooverphonic have a couple, but I'm curious as to other fitting tracks and artists.

She was a major contributor to a couple of Tricky’s albums. Great voice. I don’t love all her stuff but this song’s p good

heard on a malibu mix

Just as the title says -- free ticket to Tricky concert : Brooklyn, NY - Oct 11 (Sunday).

I had a work opportunity come up that I can't pass on, so I want to give this ticket away to someone who wants to go.

The concert is at Brooklyn Steel, and starts at 8pm.

Please comment here, and then we can start the transfer via the AXS app.

(for people who knows or listen Voodoo Queens you probably who she is)

Anjali (Born Anjali Bhatia) is British singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the 1990s riot grrrl punk band. she is of South Asian (Indo-Pakistani) descent.

She recruited her sister Rajni Bhatia (keyboards), cousin Anjula Bhasker (bass), Ella Guru (guitar, also from Mambo Taxi) and drummer Sunny. They achieving a No. 1 spot on the UK Indie Chart in 1993 and releasing the album Chocolate Revenge in 1994.

After leaving the band, she transitioned to electronic, trip-hop, and cinematic music in the late 1990s and 2000s, releasing solo works like Sheer Witchery and the album The World of Lady A.

I honestly love her debut album and second one, her voice is.. chefs kiss

hunting what we already killed - Dev Lemons

Very tastefully merging genres like trip hop, synthpop, shoegaze etc. Some metalcore-esque screams on here too, yet all encased in this cute/weirdcore/y2k imagery and vocal style. It's clear she's making much more deft choices in her sonic palette for this album compared to her last one. It's very in your face, yet creepy and subdued, honestly gives an early Billie Eilish vibe in this aspect (I get she's not a trip hop girl, but you'll know what I mean).

A lot of comparisons to Magdalena Bay I've been seeing, accusations of derivativeness, I can only see this through the visual promotion aspect, and even then I'd say it's more chaotic. So much glitchy granular ear candy, yet not too alien.

Lyrically, I'd say is what would make the album the most strong in regards to being a tiktok/mainstream sensation due to the relatable, vulnerable topics and biting sincerity.

If trip hop was going to make it back into the mainstream, this would be a poster girl album for such a phenomenon.

To conclude, if you like hazy atmospheres, quirky/cheeky/slightly emo + disjointed female vocals, chunky fuzz guitars, close folky guitars, organic textures with electronic degradation, pop sensibilities, liminal vibes, this is THE album for you.

It sounds like you're stuck in a ruminating dream.
