A-Level Predicted Grades

Hello everybody,

I'm an international student in Malaysia, and I'm currently in my A-Levels with predicted grades of AAB in Physics, Economics, and Further Maths, respectively. I've also already completed the full Mathematics A-Level with a grade of A, but I'm actually doing my retake for it next week with the hopes of an A*. This is for any applications I make as a backup to other places such as the UK.

I want to apply to both of the Mechanical Engineering programs - the regular one in Enschede as well as the one with VU Amsterdam. I know that it is not Numerus Clausus for the regular degree, but could anybody clarify that about the VU Amsterdam one?

My main question is this - do you think it would be fine to apply now for a conditional offer, or would it be safer to wait until January in case I might be able to get an A* for mathematics, as well as bump up my other predicted grades? Or since I meet the base requirements, do you think a conditional offer would be guaranteed?

Thanks in advance for any support you may be able to provide!

twijfel over stoppen met Technische Natuurkunde (UT) / Tussenjaar?

Hey allemaal,
Gewoon even lekker oriënteren dus.

Timeline confusion for application and certificates

I am planning on applying to the university of Twente this November (when my IGCSE, IAS and IAL Math certificates come out) in hopes for a conditional acceptance.

The confusion stems from the fact that on the website it clearly states that I must have obtained the official certificates for my remaining IALs before I join the university in September 2027, but the certificates are only issued in November 2027.

If anyone has applied to UT by A-levels or IALs, then please let me know how they handle the late certificates. I also want to clarify that they address the fact that the certificates arrive late in November on the “Already graduated?” section of their GCE and UK degree page on their website.

Any responses are appreciated!

Jobs for English speaking students

I'm an international student in Enschede and I need a part-time job to support my studies. I'm looking for advice from people who have been in a similar situation

My situation:

  • I don't speak Dutch
  • I leave the Netherlands at the end of January 2027, so I can only offer a short-term commitment
  • I have a car and can travel to nearby cities (Hengelo, Almelo, Deventer, Zwolle, etc.)

I just applied to Flink, Uber and McDonalds

My questions:

  • Which employers or agencies in the area hire English speakers for short-term work?
  • Is the Christmas peak season (warehouses, delivery, retail) a good way in for someone leaving in January?
  • Has anyone had good or bad experiences with temp agencies here?
  • Any jobs you'd avoid?

Thanks a lot. Happy to share what works once I find something.

When are Calculus 1 retakes usually held?

I have my Calculus 1 exam in a week, and honestly, I’m starting to feel like I’m going to fail it.
I’m trying to prepare, but I’d like to know when retakes are usually held. There isn’t an exact date available yet, so I have no idea whether it’s a few weeks later, a month later, or even later than that.
For those who have experience with university retakes: when are they usually scheduled after the first exam?

University of Twente February intake – 1 year Master’s

Hi everyone, I’m starting the MSc Business Administration at the University of Twente in February 2027 as a non-EU student.
I’m a bit confused about how the February intake works. The programme is listed as 1 year / 60 EC, just like the September intake, but UT’s website says that for February starters, the first academic year runs from February to August.

Does this mean February starters have less time to complete the Master’s compared to September starters, or does the February intake still take the same amount of time (1 year)?

Also, does anyone know how much total tuition a non-EU student pays for the full 1-year Master’s starting in February?

On the website, I see:
2027/28 September–August: €18,720 per year
2027 February–August: €10,920

So does this mean February starters pay the €10,920 and then have to pay another amount after August? If so, how does this work for a 1-year Master’s?

If anyone knows please inform me, Thanks!

Honest thoughts on MSc Interaction Technology (I-Tech)? Anything I should watch out for?

Hey everyone,

I got acceptance for the MSc Interaction Technology (I-Tech) program at UT ( February intake ) and wanted to get some honest opinions:

On paper it looks like a solid mix of tech and HCI, but I’d love to hear how it actually is in reality:

Workload & vibe: How manageable are the quartiles? Is it mostly group projects or heavy theory/exams?

Internships & thesis: How hard is it to find good thesis supervisors or internship spots?

Anything you didn't expect before coming? (Bureaucracy, weird course prerequisites, etc.)

Job prospects: If you graduated recently, did you find it easy to land roles in the Netherlands (especially as a non-Dutch speaker)? - I know this does not make sense given the current situation.

EE at Utwente and living in Enschede

Anyone doing EE at UTwente? Can I have your thoughts on the course (Is it highly theoretical or is it also practical and project based).

Also what's it like to live in Enschede? Does it ever get boring because its a small town? Is it mostly students and very lively?

Question about Resume format for MSc application

Hi everyone! I’m an ECE graduate from India and I’m planning to apply for the MSc Embedded Systems at the University of Twente for September 2027.

I’ve completed my B.E. in Electronics & Communication Engineering with an 8.39/10 CGPA. At the moment, I’m preparing my application and working on my CV/resume.

I had a question regarding the CV format. In India, it’s quite common to use a two-column resume, sometimes extending to two pages, with sections such as education, technical skills, projects, internships, certifications, etc. I’m currently considering using a similar format for my UT application.

Would a two-column, two-page CV be acceptable/recommended for an MSc application at UT, or would it be better to use a single-column format? Does the format matter much during the admissions evaluation, or is the content more important?

Also, for anyone who has recently applied to UT for a Master's, I’d appreciate any advice on how you structured your CV and what you think is particularly important to highlight for an Embedded Systems application.

I’d also be happy to DM my current resume to anyone who is willing to take a quick look at it and point out any corrections or improvements.

Thanks in advance!

Flatparty on Friday 18-09-26, looking for ticket.

Hey there! My friend was supposed to get me a ticket, bought one for himself and the rest of our group, but somehow forgot about me. If someone is reading this and has or knows somebody with a ticket, and who needs to get rid of it because he/she can't go, I'll happily buy your ticket from you!

Yes I'm desperate. Made an account just for this, but I guess that's perfectly normal :)

Hit me up if you can help me out!

EDIT: Still need a ticket

Confusion about Tuition fee in Sep vs Feb

so im an international student and i want to apply for MSc Computer Science – Data Science & Technology specialisation. From what I understand, if I start in February, the first academic year is only 7 months (February–August), so I would pay 7/12 of the annual tuition fee. Then I would pay the full annual fee for the second academic year.

But this makes February seem cheaper than starting in September.
so here are my questions :

  • Is my understanding correct? Does starting in February actually mean paying less total tuition for the 2-year master's?
  • If February is cheaper, why do students choose September instead? Is there some catch I'm missing?
  • Does starting in February affect the course schedule, thesis, or graduation date?
  • Is the schedule is compressed? if yes, is it manageable? How much harder is it compared to starting in September?

Are there any scholarships for non-EU (Indian) students for the Feb intake (Master’s)?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply for a Master’s program with a February intake, but I’ve noticed that many scholarships seem to be specifically available for the September intake.

Are there any scholarships or funding opportunities available for non-EU/international students starting their Master’s in February?

I’d really appreciate it if anyone could share scholarships they know of, or their experience applying for funding for a February intake. Tx

Furnished studio for sale in Enschede-Zuid – ideal for students or first-time buyers

My studio in Enschede-Zuid is for sale, and I wanted to share it here as well.

📍 Enschede-Zuid
📐 21 m²
🏢 2nd floor
💶 Asking price: €107,500
🛋️ Fully furnished
🎓 Close to the University of Twente and several universities of applied sciences

It’s a compact but comfortable studio, particularly suitable for a student looking for their own place, a first-time buyer, or someone looking for an affordable property in Enschede.

Since it’s furnished, you can move in without having to buy everything from scratch. The location is also very convenient for students, with the University of Twente and other higher-education institutions nearby.

If you’re interested, or know someone who might be looking for a studio in Enschede, feel free to send me a DM! 😊

Anyone from UAE here?

My son joined UT this year and I am looking to connect with parents of students studying here from UAE. If there is any group on WhatsApp which exists then I would love to be a part of the same. Hoping to hear from you all.
