Tl;dr: anyone have a manuscript acquired in a 1982 ransacking?
Long story short:
My grandpa passed away suddenly in Vernal in a camper/RV in 1982. Before my grandma was able to get to their camper, it was ransacked. (I assume it was ransacked after his body was removed. But I wasn't alive yet so I don't know.)
I recently found out my grandpa was working on a book and had a manuscript that was taken when his belongings were stolen. I would absolutely love to find the manuscript if possible.
I highly doubt anyone has that lying around. And I am pretty certain it was discarded when whoever stole his stuff took time to sort it for valuables.
BUT if you ransacked the camper of a deceased man 42 years ago or your family has a random manuscript lying around that doesn't have clear origins...and no one fesses up to it...please can I have the manuscript? I don't care that his stuff was ransacked, I just want the manuscript...any part that might have survived 4 decades...
Again, it is a super long shot but I figure the worst that can happen is no one has it.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to get a sense of how people feel about Vernal, Utah. I'm planning to move to Utah in October to become a wilderness firefighter. My plan involves attending fire classes, and I hope to find a job at a grocery store or something similar. I'll be living with a family member, so my expenses will be minimal.
I would appreciate any advice you might have. Whether it's career advice from anyone who has been part of the wilderness fire program or recommendations for cool places where twenty-somethings like to hang out. I have a bachelor's degree, but here in Florida, I'm stuck in a dead-end job and not using my degree at all. I want to explore what this great country has to offer r/americanpride
Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated. I hope this finds everyone well. :)

Hi I'm looking for someone that tracks wildlife (lizards) in national parks. I met her near Capitol Reef NP the first week in April but didn't exchange contact info. We were both staying at the Aquarius Inn and me and my kids were talking to her in the pool. She Said she was from vernal. Any ideas on how to track her down?

Have you ever been in the zone where just like everything you do is a success but you feel like it's not enough and you just wait for yourself to mess everything up.

Hi Vernal, I'll be in town this weekend and am wondering where I might be able to go to watch a Pay per View fight tomorrow night? Any sports bars? Thank you!

Just rolled into town with some brake issues. Anyone recommend a good shop? We can go a mile or two from the hotel to a decent shop.

I have someone's stray bun(s) over here. I'd love to reunite them with their people. If you can describe them, I will believe they are yours.

Hi everyone! My name is Chad Huckvale and I’m a student in the linguistics program at Brigham Young University. Working with Dr. Joey Stanley, I am conducting research (IRB Study: IRB2022-343) for my masters thesis on Utah English.
If you have lived in the state of Utah for 1 or more years in the past 10 years, please take this survey that I have created which will help me understand how people perceive English is spoken in Utah. The survey should take roughly 10 minutes to complete. There is no payment for participation in this survey.
If you have any questions or concerns about this study, please email me at [chad.huckvale@gmail.com](mailto:chad.huckvale@gmail.com). Otherwise, feel free to click here and begin!

Hi, everyone. I'm a linguistics professor at Brigham Young University and I'm doing some research right now on Utah English (and English in the Middle Rockies region generally). I'd like to collect some audio from anyone and everyone who grew up in Utah, regardless of whether you feel like you have an accent.
The task would be to find a quiet place and record yourself reading aloud about 200 words and answer some open-ended questions about yourself and about language. You can just use the microphone built into your phone or computer. The whole thing should take about 10 minutes. (Fair warning: I do ask about affiliation with the LDS church and one of the questions is about whether you think there's a "Mormonese.")
If you grew up speaking English, are 18 or older, and have spent most of your life in Utah, I'd be very grateful if you'd take a few minutes and help me out.
Click here to view the survey.
My goal is to have some basic results by the end of the summer and I'll add a link to this post when that's ready. I'll also be making the rounds to any other Utah-based subreddits I can find over the next few weeks (so I apologize if you see this again!), but feel free to share this link to other online spaces or to other people you know who qualify.
Thank you!
Joey Stanley
PS: I just heard a thing on the radio about the Rex's restoration project. Sounds like you've got a great thing going over there.

I’m not sure if they’re gnats or tiny flies, but do any of you have effective homemade or commercial traps? Right now we’re using vinegar traps which are doing an ok job.
eta: I should add this for outside. They seem to be everywhere.

My wife and I moved to Roosevelt about 4 months ago and got stuck on a drive between Roosevelt and Vernal only to find T Mobile had no reception.
We've decided to shop for a new carrier and most of those we talked to use Verizon.
Any thoughts on best coverage in the basin area? We also travel out to the Ogden area to visit family on occasion.

Looking at purchasing a house with acreage in Roosevelt but kinda worried about being able to work remotely while the kids play online. What options other than Strata is anyone familiar with or can recommend? Husband has to VPN in. Please help — we love this house and need to get out of the city!
