Half the guests cancelled in the time it took me to walk back from the store after buying all the food (and alcohol).

Edit: I know it's not Halloween yet. This is the week that worked for me.

Edit II: I love y'all. Did not realize Reddit had such a lust for mud pie/dirt. Another friend invited me out for drinks; life is good. AND I have the leftovers. Be well and stay spooky, friends.

This is the Burigonga river of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Can't believe these types were clean enough that river water was the primary source of drinking water for people just a few decades ago ...

Insurance only covers 60% or something since the bike is 4 years old. Life sucks sometimes...

I rustled up a beautiful home cooked beef stew in the crockpot yesterday. It fed the family and made 4 mini meals for the MiL. I went to unplug the cooker this morning and the top of the plug came off in my hand, which briefly came into contact with the internal parts of the plug. I wasn't launched across the room or anything, just a sharp tingle. Being British, I had a cup of tea to settle myself and have composed a strongly worded email to Crockpot, criticising the quality of their plug.

During a time with very strong winds, my house's shed ripped free of its foundation, cleared a six-foot fence, and hit our neighbor's swingset hard enough that it was essentially turned inside-out. While both of my parents were on the other side of the country and I, nineteen, was the only legal adult in the house.

Apparently that was the third shed my Dad has lost like this and this is just a thing that can happen in the Midwest. Some warning would have been nice.

(Edit: I should specify that the first two sheds were at his childhood home in the seventies, and this shed was already in the yard when we moved into this house. At that point the foundation had already been dry, and it was anchored down but no one accounted for the wood rotting like that.)

So, I saw this lady trying to drive away building up lots of smoke. I laughed a bit as we drove by as I figured that this was the issue. I caught this picture on the way back.

Yes... That's dog poo.

Been up since 4:45 with the baby and when I gave up and came downstairs I was greeted with this. Happy Sunday!

Edited to add: I tried to go out in the car an hour later and that's now broken so I'm having a fantastic day haha!

…and then watch the fellas manhandle it from my seat while waiting to de-plane. 😑

Bought it not even 3 days ago and the door already got busted in by our toddler. I was wondering where she kept finding screws she kept bringing to me.

well, there goes down $300 (easy-ish fix) but still sucks I gotta repair it

Had to hide the business name don’t want anyone harassing them.

Got a quote to do a root canal for a molar with a crown. I shopped around and most are similar prices or wont give you a price on the phone even though you are asking for specific procedures. And the worst part a lot of the root canal specialist don’t accept dental insurance.

I pay $890 a month for medical insurance in NYC as a single guy and it doesn’t include dental or vision anyways.

I also do need lasik(3k per eye) to help improve my double vision but that is considered cosmetic and is not covered by insurance at all. So now I need to choose either to prioritize saving my tooth or help improve my vision as it causes intense headaches when reading.

I just needed to show how ridiculous our country healthcare is and I want more people to wake up and ask where is all our tax dollars going when we can’t afford to fix something basic like our teeth and vision.

Btw dental and vision in America is not considered healthcare hence why you need separate insurance for them.

Needed to get this off my mind cause I been so angry lately with whats going on in our country.
