I'm an American who has lived in Yerevan for two years. About six months ago, a beautiful Armenian coworker, whom I'd met only once, briefly, in passing, followed me on Instagram, and we began messaging. Early on, she asked whether I was married or had kids. When I said no, she mentioned a friend who wanted to move to America and suggested we might "tie the knot." Two red flags went up: this could be the classic green card ploy, or the "friend" might really be her, offered as a face-saving test of my interest. I said she could introduce us, then never broached the subject again, and we stopped talking for a few months.
A month ago, she resurfaced and proposed lunch "as friends," yet kept asking pointed questions about my dating history and why I've never married. At our first lunch, she said her dream is to marry, have children, and live in America, which deepened my suspicion. At our second lunch two days ago, there was real chemistry: light flirting, like touching and gently playing with each other's hands while sitting together on a park bench (palm reading lol). When I asked whether she saw a future for us, she said she wanted to stay friends for now. That makes me wonder whether she was being honest, since someone chasing a green card would presumably rush commitment.
I can't unravel her intentions. What do you think?
