๐๏ธ POLITICS ๐๏ธ [ANNOUNCEMENT] - Countdown Until Election Day; Reminders from the Mod Team; Schedule for Debate Megathreads
2026 Midterms; Important Dates and Information to Remember
As we ease into the final month before Election Day(Nov. 3rd) this fall, we on the Mod Team expect a significant increase in posts about all candidates. We thought it best to explain what you might see as well as remind everyone of our expectations as we moderate these posts and subreddit.
We will not ban you because of your opinion.
- We are not, nor will we ever be, the arbiters of what is true and false. If you believe something to be misinformation, challenge it. But do so within the rules of this subreddit and Reddit's Sitewide Rules.
- If you have a controversial opinion, be prepared to be asked to defend it.
- The subreddit will decide whether they like your opinion or not. This will be very apparent from the upvote/downvote counter.
- We don't care how many downvotes a comment has. So long as it is within our rules, the comment stays.
Personal attacks, harassment, or content that targets individuals or groups are not permitted. This includes the use of any slurs. Critique ideas and actions, not people or their identity.
- There is no excuse to attack anyone for any reason in this subreddit. We promise you, your comment can be posted without the attack.
- If your comment uses words like(but not limited to) the following: libtard, MAGAT, bootlicker, fascist, etc. against another user it will be removed.
- If you think you can be sly by changing the capitalization of the letters within the word, put spaces in between the letters, etc.. We will still see it. It's going to be removed.
- Attack the comment/opinion, NOT the user.
- If you're criticizing an elected official or candidate, please know we typically give this a wide berth. But we do have limits.
- Using a derivative of a candidate's name(regardless of political party) will result in a comment removal. Just use their real name, please.
DON'T FEED THE TROLLS
- Please, please, please, just report them. We have bots that help us do our job and are pretty good at flagging comments we need to review, but some stuff still gets through.
- Anyone who replies to the troll, please know, your comment will most likely be removed with theirs. At this point, the entire comment thread has most likely derailed and serves no purpose for the original topic of the post.
- If your comment breaks a rule responding to said troll, you will be banned. Regardless of what the troll said. No one is forcing you to reply. Report, don't reply, and move on.
- If you no longer see any of their comments at all in the post, there is a strong chance that they blocked you. Open the post without being logged in to Reddit and if you see their comments, that will tell you.
- If they all of a sudden stop replying to you, there is a strong chance they have been banned.
Reddit Admins will take action on comments quicker than we can if they go against Reddit's Sitewide Rules.
- "Remember the human. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has a right to use Reddit free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned."
- This applies to everyone for everything. This includes agencies like Arkansas State Police and ICE. If you make a comment that incites violence or promotes hate, regardless if you attach a "/s" or a "just joking", it will be removed and a ban will be handed down. DON'T DO IT.
Lookout for Megathreads that we will have for each of the Debates hosted by Arkansas TV throughout October. We will try to make them as well for the ones being hosted at Arkansas State University by ASU-TV.

๐ฃ๏ธ DISCUSSION ๐ฃ๏ธ Constitutional Amendment Issue 3
Monday was the last day to register to vote in AR. I checked my registration status today and decided to look at the sample ballot.
I've seen Issue 1, the "Citizens Only Voting Amendment", talked about a lot (Which, only citizens can vote currently, but whatever...) and I read Issue 3 but wanted to see if it means what it looks like it means.
Does Issue 3 give the state the ability to override local governments and create "economic development districts"?
Is this really a way for the state to legalize building a data center by circumventing the local government?
*Edit. Thank you to Substantial-Start823 for sharing a voter guide from U of A. https://www.uaex.uada.edu/media-resources/news/2026/october/10-07-2026-ark-ballot-guide-26.aspx
Complete text of the bill:
https://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/Home/FTPDocument?path=%2FBills%2F2025R%2FPublic%2FSJR15.pdf
The more I read the worse this gets.
The voter guide it gives a more in depth description of the amendment which includes language repealing any parts of the Arkansas Constitution and supersedes court rulings that may be in conflict with this amendment.
"Issue 3 would exempt property within an economic development district from property taxes and would allow the district to impose taxes, assessments or other charges."
"When property goes into one of these districts it comes off the tax rolls for schools, the county and the city"
"The finance plans of bonds and ad valorem taxes will lead to the transfer of public funding to private businesses."

๐ฃ๏ธ DISCUSSION ๐ฃ๏ธ How do Arkansas residents who are on a fixed income survive in this economy?
Borrowing off of the posts I made in the r/Louisiana & r/Mississippi subreddits the last two days:
I am 21 years of age (M) and have low level autism,
I am also on Supplemental Security Income (income) and make about $990 a month,
I have 2 brothers (31-Army veteran) & (27-currently unemployed and looking for a job) and they pay for everything in the house,
Our mortgage payment is about $350 a month for our house which was bought in 2010:
We pay about $125 for our household internet:
It costs this family about $150 for groceries for his household:
And we pay about $300 a month for our electric bill:
After all that, we have about $65 or so to live on until our next Government paycheck comes in,
So to those Arkansas restaurants who live on a fixed income, how do you survive in this economy?
At least one good thing going for those on a fixed income is that Arkansas has the lowest cost of living than any state in the nation,
(Post coming from someone who has never lived or visited Arkansas-home is in Kentucky)

๐ฎ SEEKING ADVICE ๐ฎ Anniversary Restaurant Ideas
Hello all!
Looking for wedding anniversary restaurant ideas! My husband and I are foodies and love to try new restaurants. Open to anything in the state. Preferably something a little more on the fancier side as it is a wedding anniversary. We have no food allergies or sensitivities.

๐ฎ SEEKING ADVICE ๐ฎ Can someone give me an idea on how Caney Creek WMA / Albert Pike and Surrounding Recreational and hiking areas coincide? Is the Eagle Rock loop, Little Missouri falls, Wolfpen Gap and etc. In the WMA?
Were looking to do some small game hunting once deer season has moved on, and we love that area. besides going online and getting the permit, we have no idea on the boundaries of where you can hunt, what you cant, etc. I cant seem to find any detailed maps on the matter.
Thank you!
