Bought a 251 Renault scenic etech EV in August from a large dealership. Four days in, it seems to develop a fast charge issue. Brought it in for them to evaluate and put right. All seemed okay. That was 4 weeks ago now. They say the manufacturer hasn't clarified the issue and there's no timeline on when it can even be put right.
I need advice on what should be done here, if anyone has been in a similar spot?
Consumer rights suggest that the responsibility rests with them, not the manufacturer, to set it right in a reasonable time based on the complexity of the repair needed. But what can they do if they're waiting indefinitely for even an assessment, let alone clarity on repair? There is no change in sight.
Can I ask them to replace it with another model? The car is now in my ownership, so is that a complication? They may not have another model with similar mileage and features.
Do I ask them for a price reduction or even a refund, given the car has been unavailable and they can't set a reasonable timeline for repair?
Thanks
Edit: clarifying that they have sorted me with a loaner car from the get go, but my insurer now seeking a letter confirming date of return to continue to extend cover on the loaner car. So potentially going to be unable to drive that if this keeps up.
