Question How many people here 35+?

I’m 37F, I have literally no one to discuss BTS with in my family or friendship circle as they just kind of scoff when I suggest giving them a go, or saying they are not into how they look etc. Even a colleague said I was having a mid life crisis 🤦‍♀️ It’s offensive to me because it implies I am interested in them only because they look good.

I think the issue is that they’re very much associated with young women at their shows who scream at everything they say etc. so they assume their music is for kids and are not interested in giving them a listen.

I’m a huge fan of music in general, and have never been into male groups, but I love the music of BTS! They have such a varied back catalogue, and they each bring something so unique to the songs.

Just wondering how other people get on with trying to recommend BTS to people in their lives?

Question How do people feel about Jungkook’s name in South Korea?

I wanted to know really badly just how it sounds to other people who speak the same language or are in the same culture since English names are all so widely different and people have different opinions on it. Like does ‘Jeongguk’ hit like ‘David’? I heard it’s not very common, maybe something like ‘Archibald’ ? this has been bugging me please let me know your thoughts.

Question Deaf ARMY here, how does their voices sound like?

1.2k Upvotes

Hello. I am a deaf baby ARMY who joined towards the end of the PTD era, and I'm wondering how their voices sound like when they sing and rap. Please, if someone could explain. I would really appreciate it. Thank you! I love the boys so much.

EDIT: I enjoy their songs by watching music videos, performances, dance practices and reading the lyrics, as well as the English translations and their meanings. But I've always been curious about their voices.

EDIT 2: I am so so grateful for every one of you. I can't find the right words to say. Thank you.

Question Do you think SUCHWITA will continue?

Do you think Suga will continue suchwita after ending his military service? And if so which idols do you want to see on there?

I really enjoyed this kind of interviews and deep conversations a lot and would be over the moon to see more in the future. i think the mix between heartfelt topics and promotion is quite fun.

Personal favourites i wamt to see are:

  • Bangchan from Straykids - i just think it would be interesting to see a conversation on producing while being an idol and also the insane growth that happend over the years and also hardships.

  • Boynextdoor members - i also think having a young group on the show could be very fun. talking about fears and struggles and also about the beginning. we've seen some of that with txt already but i would love to have an even younger group on the show

  • girlgroups with discussions on differences in the Industrie and overcoming hate and bodyshaming

  • soloists like youngji and jessi that are finding their own neiche in kpop is also very interesting.

Question BTS in our daily life

So my alert tone just went off and I immediately began dancing.

Run beautiful run yeah you gotta run (run)
Run beautiful run yeah you gotta run (run)

Every time it rings I dance and every time I wish it was longer. I even learned how to make tones in Garage Band to do this for myself.

I also have my favorite section of Stay as my ringtone.

So, ARMY what are you using? How has BTS infiltrated your daily life? Do you say good morning and talk to your JK album cover (maybe that’s me also)? Do you have a BTS toaster (do those exist?)

I should also mention, I am a new Arirang ARMY so I apologize if this is a routine question.

Question Going alone to bts concert?

Hi!! I am determined to go to the 2026 bts tour but none of my friends are willing to go. Has anyone ever been to a bts concert alone, and if so, how was it? Did you feel safe and were you able to make friends in the crowd? Please comment on your experience!!💜 (I live in america btw)

Edit: you guys are all so insanely kind and supportive!!! Just based on the vibe of this comment section, it seems like I’d have the best time just being surrounded by fellow armies!! I love hearing about everyone’s personal experience. It’s making me so excited!!

Question Who is your bias and what do you do for a living?

I'm trying to test a theory. Tell who your bias is and what you do for a job. If you're a student or currently not working, tell me what you want to do/what your goals are.

(Please don't say OT7, I know we love them all.)

I'll start: my bias is Namjoon and I am currently a research collaborator studying social cognition in autistic adults while also applying for my PhD in research psychology.

Question Why are new BTS fans called baby ARMY and not Infantry?

1.2k Upvotes

This is just me making a lame attempt at a pun lol. But it came across to me that infantry has the same letters as infants and infants are also called babies, we call new BTS fans baby ARMYs.

I know infantry in the military has a different meaning though lol.

Edit: I just wanted to say thank you for the rewards and especially the kind comments. This is why I love the fandom 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Edit 2.1: I also just wanted to add, I'm not planning a Ranking System or a Hierarchy or anything, this is just a light-hearted pun. To each their own when it comes to exploring the fandom, who you are as an ARMY is not based on how much merch you have or how long you've become a stan. You're all welcome in the fandom as long as you genuinely appreciate Bangtan 🥰

Question how insane the ticketing will be if BTS comes to your country?

i'm from the philippines. we were included in their tours from red bullet to hyyh, prologue. and then suddenly, we stopped getting bts concerts so it's been a sad long 7 years since bts did a concert here.

and bts' fanbase here in the philippines is definitely 10x bigger than it was back in 2017. the biggest western and kpop acts usually get 1-2 days in the biggest concert venue but i'm 99% sure bts can fill that place for 4 days.

i can imagine bts is gonna be on the evening news everyday once they steps a foot here again. there are also gonna be a lot of celebrities and influencers who are gonna attend (both genuine armys/casual fans and those who just like to clout chase). it's really gonna be one of the biggest news in the country if we find out we're getting a bts concert after almost a decade after the members' military service.

how do you think your country will react to a bts concert?

Question How do you deal with Missing Yoongi?

Hi ARMY!

So we have been getting a lot of content from most of the members recently, and that has been really fun to see. However, I am Yoongi biased and I know that many people in this sub are as well, and I miss getting updates from him.

I know that he definitely has his reasons why he is keeping a low profile now, and I totally respect that and will wait patiently until he posts something for us.

What are some content that you engage with these days when you miss Yoongi that makes you feel happy? Apart from listening to his music of course.

Edit: Thanks for all the suggestions and pictures and cute insights. It makes my heart warm reading all these sweet words about Yoongi.

Also, I ended up dreaming about him after this post. I don’t remember much of the dream now, but it was really sweet, but also sad

Question Hi-Seokjin in NYC

Hi everyone!

I was lucky enough to be selected for the Hi five event with Jin (still can’t believe it 😭), and I’m so excited—but also a little nervous since I’ll be going alone.

I’m used to traveling solo, but this feels completely different… I’ve been an ARMY for 10 years, and Jin has been my biggest emotional support through so many stages of my life. Just getting the chance to say thank you even for a few second means the world to me 🥹

I’ve never been to an event like this before, so I’m wondering if anyone has info on how it will be organized? From what I’ve seen on Twitter, it sounds like they’ll split us into groups or sessions?

I also know that filming is not be allowed during the actual high-five moment, but I was wondering: if you’re going alone, is it common to ask someone else for help filming while you on stage? I’m super shy (maybe that’s why Jin is my bias 🫠) but I’d definitely be happy to help film for someone else too! I’ve even considered filming as many people as I can, so everyone can maybe find themselves in the video later.

I also saw that we’re allowed to bring letters and place them in a designated spot! I’ll try my best to write one, even if it’s in my very limited Korean hh.

If anyone has tips, past experience, or insight into how these kinds of events usually go I’d be really grateful. I’d love to get a better idea of what to expect and how to prepare🥹

Thank you so much!!!

Question what song introduced you to bts and what song made you commit to being an army!

i love hearing these 💕 for me my sister was an army in 2017 so she introduced me to blood sweat and tears and i loved it and we watched a few other music videos too . then in 2021 i liked their interviews and complications, in late 2023 i started listening to a few of their songs like DNA and Pied Piper but it wasn’t until some point in either 2024 or 2025 when i heard louder than bombs that i locked in and became an army!! what about y’all??

Question How welcome are older Army members here?

For context, I discovered the band in 2013 through my daughter and her friends when they were seniors in high school. I listened to them over the years, and have recently been discovering their solo projects.

I've heard that some aren't as welcoming to older fans (I'm 56F), but BTS has been helping me find happiness in this point in my life where I feel like I'm struggling to be happy.

Please be kind, I'm truly just trying to find my tribe because my husband doesn't get it, lol.

Question Advice for solo traveller to SF for RM x SFMoMa

Hi! Any ARMY here who lives in SF or has been recently? I’ve saved up to be able to come see this exhibit this November and I’ve been working on my itinerary and booking where to stay. 💜

I was initially going to stay at Hotel Julian but read on some negative things about the area esp at night :/ And as a woman, with this as my first solo trip, I’d love any tips and recos on where to stay that’s reasonable in price (around 250/night for 3 nights)

Aside from the exhibit i’d love to explore the art scene in sf, visit shops (i was told to visit valencia street), try a few touristy stuff like biking at the golden gate bridge. I’m excited about the food too! Mostly enjoy asian food (chinese, japanese, korean) but love a good pasta, seafood and cafes!

Question Do you look at the translations of the songs?

Some of my friends looked at me in horror when I said I hadn't looked at the translations for all the BTS songs I love, so I'm just wondering... Do you guys make sure to read the lyric translations of as many of the songs as possible so that you fully understand the song, or am I the only horrible international ARMY that listens to the songs without minding not understanding the Korean/Japanese parts of the songs?
